My First Time Traveling Alone (Africa to Europe) 

Female solo traveler (in her 60s). Started traveling alone about 7 years ago because I got tired of waiting for someone to go with me. Wouldn't change it for the world (and I have seen the world). Always out of my comfort zone the first day but then I realize I can do this! Went to Milan and Lake Como a year ago this month...absolutely stunning. Can't wait for my next adventure. Congratulations on all you have done this year!

Bec, as a single introvert, I’ve been travelling solo for over 40 years and I love it! Of course there are some things I don’t do alone for safety reasons. I was quite surprised to learn that solo travel was outside your comfort zone. Frankly, anyone who has been through what you have over the past year has climbed much higher mountains than solo travel. You got this, girl! ❤️ 🇨🇦

Fellow introvert here. Any time I travel I am always reminded that i don’t understand how people can just make new friends in the cities they are traveling because forcing myself to be outgoing enough is terrifying and not even something I am comfortable with in my daily life. This is so inspiring. I’m making friends during my next travels. I’m doing it

I’m literally crying as I watch this…for many reasons…just thinking of your journey with Lee, your journey with cancer, your solo journey traveling, your giving spirit, the very necessary time to be alone and stop and allow all your emotions to surface (even though I know you are always in touch with your emotions but connecting with them when alone for an extended period hits different) and also I’m just full of joy for you and Eamon that you have each other and always live in appreciation of that love but after the past two years, I’m sure it’s so much more ever present - the awareness. Sending you both big hugs and thanks for allowing us into this special time of your life. When I saw you get the pedicure and book the Lake Como room…I kept thinking…your family and Eamon must have been so happy to see you treat yourself. Finally, I just wanted to say that it looks like you maybe didn’t get to explore Bergamo…it’s such a cute town so if you haven’t toured it, definitely go up the tram and walk around next time you fly out of there.

I always cry along with Bec, and I appreciate her vulnerability to show her emotions. Her vibes are always amazing.

Well done Bec, you two are amazing! In February of this year, after 2 years of not being able to leave the country to see my daughter and grandchildren in Florida I at the age of 69 left Nova Scotia with my 6 year old Yorkie and drove by myself to Fort Lauderdale area. It took me 4 days to cover 3400 kilometres. I had never done anything like that before, I like you always leaned on my husband or someone else. What a feeling of empowerment!! My immediate family had some concerns, but we had driven the same route multiple times before. I left early in the morning, stopped driving before dark, took multiple breaks for gas, for the dog and myself. I would not hesitate to do it again, not sure if hubby will be able to go this winter or not. However at the age of 70 now I feel like I can do anything! I am healthy and active so I should be good. Heck I just completed a challenge and walked 112 kilometres in 11 days. I guess what I am saying is you can do anything you want even if you are fearful, you just have to want it badly enough!

The smile on Bec’s face when Emon arrived warmed my heart. ❤

I was diagnosed with cancer at 27 in 2020 and thankfully currently in remission. I feel like even though I live a very different life compared to you guys, I love that you share your feelings and journey of your recovery! I am so happy and proud that you are living everyday with such a grateful and happy heart! Bec, you inspire me everyday to look at the brighter side of life! ❤️

The sunset view from that balcony was so beautiful it literally brought tears to my eyes. Because seeing it thru you was amazing but my heart knew that due to my own physical limitations it was another place I would never experience after my accident. And followed by the conversation from you about being grateful to be alive, I bawled. It reminded me that even though I will probably never experience that view that took my breath away personally, I am still alive and that I survived something that could have ended my life. Thank you for reminding me to not see the things I don’t have but to be thankful that I have the most important thing, my life, and I shouldn’t take that for granted. ❤

Loved this episode so much...Bec, you conquered cancer, now you should already know you can conquer anything!!! You made the most of your solo venture, and it definitely inspired other women to know they can do it too. 🤟

As someone who has been through serious illness as well and come out the other side, I really felt it when you wept a little over breakfast because you are just so grateful to be alive. It is a heavy thing to say and it is beautiful. Look after yourself Bec!

This video hit me hard. I lost my husband a couple of years ago and eating out, alone, was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Lots of tears shed but also some good memories as I ate at our favorite places. And you are right, doing hard things makes you stronger and makes you appreciate more the people who are still in your life. You are very inspiring, thank you.

Having survived more than 6 years of being told I was dying and going through some extremely difficult moments I can attest that life after is not always easy even in the greatest moments. It is hard to reconcile with the beauty of life when in the back of your head you are reminded that it could taken from you in a flash. These emotions sometimes overtake you in the weirdest moments and people who have not lived it cannot understand. Continue to be inspired to reach for the impossible.

Crying happy tears. The ending is so sweet, you walking out the door and opening your arms as the camera pulls out into the world. It’s like you’re in a new beginning, new doors opening, walking with your head held high and arms wide open for whatever comes!!! So much love for you and Eamon!!

Seeing you weep with joyful gratitude because you are alive just melted my heart. I lost my best friend a few weeks ago, she was only 46 and we have been besties for 36 years. It has really made me reflect on how fragile and short life truly is and I am so glad you are doing so well and out there living your best life. What an inspiration!

As a solo female backpacker who has hiked a lot of miles by myself out in the backcountry, I wanted to let you know that I really love this video. Being out there by yourself can be fun and it can be downright scary at times. Way to go on facing your fears in the face and getting out of your comfort zone! I just went on my first international trek ever this year...to Nepal and it has inspired me to plan a solo international trek, maybe in 2023? So proud of you Bec! I am currently studying abroad in Europe and I totally know that feeling of being lonely and uncomfortable. Studying abroad away from my home was totally out of my comfort zone because I am not used to being away from my family for more than a month at a time and here I am 3 months later with 19 days left before I head back. Travelling throughout a new country just gives you so much perspective and for me it has just slowed my busy days down which is something that I needed. Bec you truly are an inspiration because part of what has gotten me this far is from watching your guys' videos and seeing the both of you travel together and show the real side of travelling. This channel in general is an inspiration so thank you both for everything and I hope you continue to have safe and fun travels!

I really enjoyed the contrast between having a strict budget vs. having a lot of money at your disposal. It seems like the budget day was more challenging and maybe more stressful, but I feel like it's more relatable because I've never been able to travel and not worry about every penny spent. I'd love to see more budget challenges!

As an expat the words “getting uncomfortable “ really resonated with me. 6 weeks ago I moved to Saudi Arabia by myself. My husband of 29 years is back in the US. Living in a new country is hard, finding grocery stores, getting all the paperwork you need done for your residency, starting a new job, figuring out how to get to stuff, a new phone number and the thousands of other things that need doing feels daunting. But with each thing getting done there is a huge sense of pride. Of managing, of putting yourself out there, of trying new things. And yes the making of new friends is the “ secret sauce” of being human. ❤

Thankful for your regular Sunday uploads. I always feel uplifted after watching you. Your preserverence. Your honesty. Your ability to show the reality of your travels. As a 34 year old working regular 45+ hour weeks in a tough environment who loves loves to travel. Your videos. All the other RU-vid travel vloggers help me feel better & fill the void of when I can't travel. And watching your cancer thrival (thrive&survive) story this past year. You & Eamon are a real inspiration.

It's funny how I hate doing anything alone when I am in my home city, but love exploring other cities alone! As a fellow introvert, room service and me time is still my favorite thing to do. 🥰

I'm in my 50's and to this day I can't go eat a meal at a restaurant on my own. I do everything else, but sitting alone in a restaurant is overwhelming to me. Proud of you!!
