Vampires have hypnosis powers, that's why Amy couldn't take her eyes if him. Also, Jerry is hundreds of years old, they actually did date young girls back then.😂 Also, this was the 80's, and ish like this unfortunately was kinda the norm. Also, vampires love virgin blood.

The actress who played "Amy" was 27 when the movie came out but she was supposed to be 16 in the movie according to the original movie script. The movie took place in Iowa where the age of consent is and was 16 like in many other states. So there was no wrongdoing in that regard when it comes to the law. I myself was more disturbed with all the blood sucking vampires.

Jerry Dandridge is supposedly related to fruit bats, and that's why he's always seen eating an apple. I saw this in the theater when I was 11, and I LOVED it. It's still cool, disturbing, and simply fun to rewatch, and yes, the FX team knocked it out of the park!

Sorry you to reupload this again, but loved your response. In the 80s they usually would cast 20yr olds to play high schoolers. She was 25 but yeah she was supposed to be in h.s. and he seemed like in his 30s, so yeah it a bit weird. I always saw it as a horror comedy, never scary, but I loved it. The remake of this was pretty good too.

The actress playing Amy was 26 during filming (end of 1984 to early 1985) and turned 27 a week after the movie released. Charley turned 24 during filming. Both were supposedly playing 16-year olds going by the script but the movie itself doesn't say anything about their actual age.

@@shalayahomebodytv It's a cultural thing. 16 year old girls dating older men used to be nothing out of the ordinary in the US, and that was reflected in the movies. Also it's not illegal in many US states even now.

love this film especially the music I think Jerry Dandrige was my first vamp-crush :) I think Amy is 17 (she's older in RL ) jerry is 1000 years old so theres an age gap XD and she's under his "thrall" (vamp hypnotic power) I met Chris Sarandon (jerry) at a convention ... I was so star struck XD (oh and over here (UK) it was an 18 (R rated)

Yes, the characters of Charley Brewster and Amy Peterson are supposed to be in High School, thus approximately 17 years old. However, the actors playing the characters were both in their twenties during filming.

*Jerry Dandridge confronts Charlie Brewster scene* Me (as Charlie): Sir, the only reason I even looked towards your window in the first place was that I saw a hot naked woman in the window. You might consider closing the curtains prior to your victims disrobing, if you don't want anyone to see anything they shouldn't. And on that note, who are you, again?
@HuntingViolets
@HuntingViolets 9 месяцев назад
I don't think they needed to have the portrait of Amy; Dandridge never cared whether she got staked; she was just a tool for him, so that made that part pretty much pointless (not my favorite trope anyway). He seemed more committed to his "renfield."

Fright Night 85 is a cult classic indeed. It's got weird unexplained lore in whatever Billy is, a jammin synth soundtrack, 20 somethings as teenagers, over the top acting, and incredible FX work (I am also a fan of big mouth Amy). There is a sequel from 88, as well as a 2011 remake and a direct to dvd/streaming sequel to that one 😅
@albertjimeno5315
@albertjimeno5315 7 месяцев назад
But it was a surprise box office hit in the summer of 1985. I’m sorry but I find “cult classic” so overused these days. Used to mean a movie that wasn’t popular initially but later gained a cult following. It had and continues to have too much mainstream popularity to be considered a cult classic.
@LordVolkov
@LordVolkov 7 месяцев назад
@@albertjimeno5315 Fright Night 85 may have had some box office success, but was overshadowed by Childs Play and pretty much forgotten by the time its sequel came out, which did flop. Most people today are more familiar with the '11 remake (and don't realize it's a remake...). That's why Fright Night '85 is a cult classic.
@albertjimeno5315
@albertjimeno5315 7 месяцев назад
@LordVolkov That’s fair. Although Child’s Play was 1988. I just looked it up and Fright Night was the 36th highest grossing movie of 1985, with Friday the 13th Part V at #42 and Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 at #44. Return of Living Dead at #61. So I have to disagree, it was big. But maybe overshadowed by other big movies in other genres and maybe you mean overshadowed in the horror genre by Child’s Play just a few years later. Welp that’s the same director so win-win for him.

I personally disagree about it not being scary due to the third act being extremely scary, it just feels really relentless and unhinged, with grisly visuals, horror filmmaking at its finest. Certainly the first two-thirds were tongue-in-cheek and fun. I respect your opinion but honestly everyone I’ve shown this movie to has been legitimately freaked out by the third act. I also disagree about the blood and slime looking bad, I thought it looked solid, even though it’s minimal, which I prefer somehow.

I do like the "I'm gonna run away and not help/okay, I'll help/oops, now I'm a hero" hero's journey. Sarandon is great in this too.
