My First Time Watching *Peter Pan 2003* and I'm so Glad I watched it 

This is my FAVORITE Peter Pan movie ever made. It's not a weird "adaptation", it sticks more or less to the original story, they cast ACTUAL native people for the indigenous tribe, and it's just so magical and endearing and funny and sweet. This is a wonderful movie.

This is the only peter pan i watched when growing up, and it still feels the same way it did as a child. This movie is filled with so much magic and charm. The whole aura is romantic, and dreamy, i love it so much

It's tradition to cast the same actor as Hook and Mr. Darling. Even Jumanji borrowed from this. I was disappointed the newest adaptation strayed away from that.

Fun fact: the actors playing Peter and Wendy actually had a crush on each other during filming Another fact is the alternate ending shows grownup Wendy reuniting with Peter who takes her daughter to Neverland

This movie inspired me to leave my bedroom window open, just so Peter Pan could visit me. I love how they make Peter really complex in this movie. It appears that Peter is totally content with his life before he met Wendy. Then, he catches of glimpse of what he could have if he chose to grow up. But, in the end, he turns away.

This movie really feels like magic. Everything from the sets, to the framing of character’s emotions, and the music. It feels larger than life! I used to watch the behind the scenes on the dvd a lot. For the scene with the aunt, I always took it as Tinkerbell giving the name to her, and it thus births the idea that she should adopt him. The movie consistently repeats the idea that children should always have someone to lean on and guide them, which is often portrayed in a ‘mother’. When Slightly laments he was the one who got lost on the way to the Darlings’ home, he feels he missed out on being adopted, and isolates himself from the others. The aunt character feels pity on him and probably has an instinct to reach out, but it’s the name that gives the push to be more affectionate. Maybe he is her lost child literally, but for me I find a simple connection of “I just feel it in my bones” to be so heartful.

The reason Tinker Bell gets so carried away by jealousy, even briefly forming an alliance with Hook, is explained by Barrie in his original novel (based on his earlier play): Fairies are so small that they do not have room for more than one emotion at a time, and so whatever emotion they do feel, with nothing to offset it, takes them over completely. By the way, the 19th and early 20th century idea of fairies as being very small, as opposed to human sized, is thought to have been inspired by the passages in A Midsummer Night's Dream in which we are told that fairies can make themselves very small at will, although that is not their normal state. We see a similar idea in the 1882 operetta Iolanthe by Gilbert and Sullivan, and in the Disney movie of Sleeping Beauty.

Also, not only is this movie, the closest to the stageplay, but the father was always cast as Captain Hook. It’s a tradition that the stageplay always had. So the movie carry that over. And yes, there is a lot of symbolism behind it.

One thing I like about this version is that in the animated version Walt Disney couldn't figure out how to do the clapping moment in a movie (so nothing like that made it in). This version figured it out. And it's my favorite part of the movie. "I do believe in faries! I do! I do!"

My cousin Laura (and her daughter Lucy) actually got flown out to the set of this movie in Australia because she is J.M.Barrie's goddaughter. She told me that she was thrilled with the cast, but sad that the film wasn't a big box office sucess as she liked what they did with the story.

Whoever keeps recommending these movies from my childhood, I thank you very much. It's nice to see someone enjoy these for the first time. I didn't have a very long childhood since I went through a plethora of awful things and had to grow up fast but this brings me back to a time when things truly were simple from my perspective.

I'm sorry Peter Pan's personality was def my crush type but Captain Hook's look...had me rooting for villains from now on.

When Tinkerbell hits the Aunt with that ball I never thought of it as anything that affected the Aunt. I think that Tink just played around and did that for fun. I think that the Aunt always wanted children or maybe that she lost one once and here was her opportunity to have one. That she’d always wanted a boy with that name and that’s why she guessed it. It was destiny.

I remember being so excited watching this movie in theaters as a kid. It was such a magical experience that I’ll always cherish.

This version is so magical, I was obsssesed with the mermaids 💙

In the book Peter Pan they actually don't fly into outer space to get to Neverland they actually use the second star to the right as a navigation Point kind of like how Sailors would use the Stars to guide their way Peter Pan uses the star to get to Neverland. Also this version follows the book a lot closer than most adaptations however they do take some liberties with certain details and personally this was my favorite version when I was little installers today when I was growing up I remember going to Blockbuster and getting this copy every single week

My favorite thing about this adaptation is that you can really see here that Hook loves Peter just as much as he hates him, as in this fabulous exchange: Captain Hook (guessing who he is): Animal? Peter: Yes. Captain Hook: Man? Peter: NO! Captain Hook: Boy? Peter: Yes! Captain Hook: Ordinary boy? Peter: No! Captain Hook: Wonderful boy? Peter: Yes! Do you give up? I also love that this adaptation does what all of the traditional stage Peter Pan productions do, having the same actor play Mr. Darling and Hook. And Aunt Millicent knows Slightly's name because of the fairy, but also because she realizes she was meant to adopt him -- she feels she is his mother instantly. So she's not his blood mom, but she is his adoptive mom and loves him instantly (I love that so much, and I loved Lynn Redgrave here). The ending moves me every time, so no worries about tearing up -- all the good people do!

The movie Hook is my favourite version of Peter Pan with Robin Williams, but this is very good as well.

The plank was real but it was generally reserved for stow aways and it wasn't just there all the time. On a pirate vessel it served as a boarding method which made it easier for the fighting members of the crew to jump onto the deck of merchant ships which often didn't have a fighting force on board because it's not cheap to pay someone to fight pirates. They mostly relied on the military for help whether it be Spain or Britain and those sailor, soldiers were not as capable as the pirate crews that often had a deck crew and a separate fighting crew that both defended and attacked. When outnumbered a good pirate captain would command both the fighters and the deck crew to dump heavy cargo in the water so they could escape. Grappling hook type devices were use to pull the merchant ships abreast and then tied off temporarily whilst goods were off loaded onto the pirate vessel. Losing everything was a common occurrence for pirates but they were the kind of people who had no other life to live so they were at home and often made jokes during their dying breaths because they were so comfortable with their mortality. If I could go back in time and find a way to translate the way they spoke I think they would be quite interesting individuals to inquire upon such topics as right and wrong, justice vs virtue or what they truly believe in.

This is my favorite movie ! In the dvd and bluray there's a bonus scene where Peter come back few years later. Wendy is a mother and we can also see her daughter !

22:34 I love how they adapted this scene from the stage play, where to revive Tink, Peter Pan breaks the Fourth Wall and asks the audience to clap if they believe in fairies. A lot of adaptations find other ways for obvious reasons, but I love how they adapted here and make it feel just as epic as when you're in the audience.

It is true that Peter Pan is the symbolic youth that every child wishes to stay as and Captain Hook is the symbolic adulthood every child fears to become. There’s an alternate ending to this film that I recommend you to watch. The Crocodile represents time that everybody fears that will catch us and end in death. If you are interested in other Peter Pan movies, I would recommend Pan, an origin of Peter Pan, Syfy mini series Neverland, another origin of Peter Pan and Hook, Peter Pan: Return to Neverland, which is a sequel to the original Disney classic, Finding Neverland, starring Johnny Depp as this shows the origin of how the story of Peter Pan was written, and if you wish to see the original musical you can find the Mary Martin version or the Cathy Rigby version on RU-vid to watch. 💚💛❤️🧑🏼👩🏼🧚🏻🐊⚔️🏴‍☠️

01:20 Well, it was stated in the novel that Nana was thorough at bath-time, so does not suprise me that she has to chase Michael, hoist him onto her back and throw him into the bath tub every day since he hates baths. Nana is a firm nanny and Michael has his bath, period. 😂

What I really liked about this movie of the live motion peter pan when I used to knew it from the Disney version I like the part where Wendy actually kiss Peter And I gotta say when I was a kid I really like the kiss scene as Spider-Man, Mary Jane because it kinda looked it hot and the kiss scene of Wendy and Peter Pan the kiss was sweet

I feel like they could've done more with that Aunt Millicent and Slightly twist. It might have been a bit on the heavy side, but the way I would've done it is when Tink hits Millicent with that memory dust bomb thing, we see some brief flashes of her as a teenager or a very young woman who got pregnant out of wedlock which infuriated her parents. I don't know if she's the dad's sister or the mom's sister, but whichever one is her sibling (I'm guessing George) was a baby or very little at the time and probably doesn't remember it. That maybe added to the tension with the parents if they already have a baby in the house but now a grandbaby too. The father of the kid refused to claim him and Millicent maybe spent the majority of the pregnancy in the house and lost her social life. Then the baby is born and she's just lost (mentally and figuratively). One night she's out with the baby in a park outside the city just off in her own world. Combination of post partum and just stress over what she's supposed to do with this kid. How is she ever gonna live as a single mother? Maybe wishing this accident never happened. While in her daze, she kind of wanders away from the pram and kind of leans on a tree to collect her thoughts and admire the view. Then she comes back to the bench and the pram's gone. Leaving her in utter disarray. Her wish was granted but it turned out to be not what she wanted. I know that seems like a LOT to cram in a few seconds of "flashes" but with visual storytelling, it can be done. Encanto managed to pull it off. It would explain why Millicent was driving the bandwagon of "Wendy needs to grow up and learn how to be a lady" cause she was forced to grow up through those experiences at a young age.

Well yeah she’s jealous. Because she’s in love with Peter. Like they say we do stupid things when we’re in love. What she did was wrong. Because if you love someone you’ll never get them to fall for you if you betray them especially out of jealousy. Cuz all you’ve done is make it to where they’ll never want you now. At least before you had a little chance but now you have no chance. Anyway obviously though Tinker Bell redeems herself by saving him.
