My First Transmission Rebuild Pt. 1

Well, after seeing some of the shoddy work on this bike, I could not avoid taking this transmission completely apart.
Being my first ever transmission rebuild, I was a little intimidated to begin with. But I took it slow and paid attention to each and every part and piece I pulled out, and I think it went pretty smooth! It’s always fun learning something new on these old machines and enjoying a fresh sense of accomplishment 😊
I hope you all enjoy this one! Thank you all for watching ✌️
And, anyone who want's to send me pictures of their bikes, you can email me at:
redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
PLEASE SEND LARGE CLEAR PHOTOS!
1080p x 1080p is the MINIMUM we can work with, so please do your best at making sure your photos are large and not blurry 🙂 And send more than one if you can as well!
Only motorcycle related emails please - sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos!
If you would like my PO BOX address you can find it in the description to my channel by following this link:

With all my Love Miss Angel, So glad the tiny pieces didn't cause more damage! For those that think "just swap the gears" and the after market is the answer, I hope the way you present this rebuild helps them to appreciate how the "old men" did things. So many folks look at all the parts of a transmission and run, this makes you a very brave and skilled Young Lady. I am guilty of giving your Dad a lot of credit but Miss Angel you are an accomplished mechanic. You truly are a diamond in the rough! I cannot imagine how you would impress the instructors of any school. With the shop made tools we all save money and thumb the manufacturers that don't want us working on their machines without paying for the "specialty " tools. With Love and Respect, You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

It's always easier to take things apart, than put them back together, but I'm sure you can do it Angel, you cease to amaze me, with your skills, you have come a long way, since when I first started watching you with your cold start videos!!...Keep on making your videos...even an old mechanic like me has learned a thing or two from them !! I think maybe you should have the title of Professor Red Rider🙂You are a very detail oriented person, and I love that you are. Your methodical work is admired by me. Attention to all details from the big to small is to be commended. I am a stickler on details to a fault. It's a blessing and a curse for sure. It can get frustrating for me and I have to tell myself to step away and relax for a bit. Your knowledge and work ethic are to be commended. Doing it the right way, always! Good video Angel. Guess I will have to get my welder out and raid the scrap steel pile, I like your stand. I usually leave the mounting plate attached with a piece of wood under each end and clamp it to the bench, it works but your stand is better. Your sprocket is a 23 or 24 tooth (looks like 24) for lower RPM on faster roads? I run a 22 because I like back roads with tight turns, old sports car driver, and stay off the big roads. You can slide the shifter shaft out with the 22 tooth sprocket in place between the teeth. You did a good show and tell as we have become to expect from you and your Dad, keep up the high standards. I have never heard of anyone praising that third gear circlip but it does the job and keeps the mechanic humble. 😞 👏👏
@RedRiderCanadaBC
@RedRiderCanadaBC 9 месяцев назад
A stand for the transmission makes it so much easier to work on! And its a 24 tooth I believe and I'll be replacing it with a new one.

I know what your going through. I broke the shifter pawl spring on my bike early last year. I got super lucky that the broken spring didn't make it through the tranny gears. Replaced the shifter pawl with a Baker unit. The spring is a much better design over the stock one. Obviously didn't want the part to brake, but the job was kinda fun in the end. Take care Angel, you da best.👍

I thought they broke the mold with my wife but apparently there is at least one younger and that would be you. You may be young but you have a hardened old soul to be interested in these things! She thought that was extra quirky and cute, until someone spoiled my fun and asked her "how do you spell that?" :) She was not amused! It mattered not, because she backed over him in the driveway on accident, before he was 3 months old. I guilt-tripped her HARD. "You didn't have to crush my dog just because you hated his name!"
