Great that you could stick it out to the end!! Looks like a beautiful course, and nice weather, except for maybe some wind. Best of luck on your future endeavors!!
Yeah, you’re probably right, but you couldn’t miss them with those bucket hats, which helps 😂. Thank you, the knee is much better, going to give it a couple more days before a recovery run just in case though. Cheers for watching!
Thanks Harry, it was definitely an amazing experience. I have a couple of things I’m the pipeline to keep me motivated, watch this space! 👍💪. Thanks for watching!
Well done James, great achievement and super running. Loved the signs your kids made, 'don't DNF' 😅 Really good to see all your training come together. Hope the recovery is going good!
Congratulations!! "Pain is temporary, achievements last forever." That statement describes ultras to a T! Can't wait to see what you do next. Love your channel name, subscribing now!
Thank you Kelly, there were definitely some places where I needed to dig deep that’s for sure. However not sure about the pain being temporary, still have bloody knee pain 😩🤣 Hoping to get out running again soon and taking on some more epic challenges, so stay tuned 👍 Thanks for watching. James
Huge congratulations, very well deserved medal! I hope your legs are feeling OK! I've never done an Ultra, I can only imagine the mental and physical strength it takes to complete such a long run. Incredible achievement!
Thanks Chloe, legs are recovering slowly 😅. Sounds like an ultra may be on your bucket list of races one day. If it is, I’d say just do it, you won’t regret it 👍😊. Thanks again for watching.
you absolutely smashed this first ultra. glad the knee held up and you where able to complete it. nice to see a little cameo with Dan and Ben :) time to rest and relax for a while :)
Cheers Bradley, it’s was an epic day! Absolutely loved it. Yeah, those boys helped me through alright, and now just enjoying a rest for a few days at least. Thanks for watching!
Yes James! You smashed it mate! What a great way to kick off your ultra career! You really did yourself proud mate! One thing I have found is you can always count on Dan Runs to keep you going during those long efforts. 😊👍🏻 Thanks for the mention mate I really appreciate it. It was interesting to see hear your splits too I don't think my watch had me going past marathon distance until after that red coffee flag at Norbury Park.... Useless technology 😂 Great video once again mate! Keep em coming! Hope the legs are recovering well. 😎🤘🏻
Cheers Ben, it was an amazing day and one I won’t ever forget that’s for sure. I know what you mean about the technology, I had Strava and my Apple Watch going simultaneously and they were over a km out from each other 🙄. Don’t worry, there will be more videos soon, you haven’t seen the last of me yet 😂 Cheers for all the support once again mate!!
Great to watch your film. It wasnt an easy run over that ground for sure.I was running the same day but first Ultra for a year after Covid so decided that 24 miles was enough this time. I'll be at the Hurtwoods in December hopefully back to full fitness.
It definitely wasn’t easy, my knees still haven’t recovered really, but hopefully be back out on the trails again soon. I was looking at Hurtwood too, however if it’s on 4th December this year I won’t be available.😩 Good luck for December, Im sure you’ll smash it. James
@@Ijustkeptrunning Cheers James, it will be tougher, third time for me but there's cod, mud and darkness.. crackin day out. Hope the knee niggle sorts itself for you.
Thank you again. It was hard doing, but there was no way I wasn’t going to finish. What’s next? Well I have a few things in mind, however have a slight knee injury at the moment, so taking a couple of weeks out to let that heal. Watch this space 😊
Congratulations for yesterday, it’s a great course isn’t it. I would love to have done it again this year but had other plans. Thanks for watching and hopefully you’re not aching too much today!
@@davebowerman9869 No not yet, it’s definitely on the radar though. My next ultra is going to be Race to the Stones. Maybe I’ll look at the serpent trail next year. Have you got another one in the diary too yet?
Hi Mike, Thanks for watching 🙏🏻. With regards to the course, as this was an out and back from Denbies, the route incorporates about 20k on the north downs 50 ultra challenge (I think) Looking at the map of the of this one it’s a looped course, so will be slightly different. Good luck if you do decide to run it 👍
Thank you for watching Phil. So many thing’s leant, one thing I should have done is worn my trail shoes, I thought as it was so dry I would be ok in my lightweight road shoes. Think that was an error with the uneven surface and the cause of my knee pain in the end 😩. Also on thing I definitely did right was to walk the hills even at mile 1. I’m sure there’s lots more, and looking forward to taking the learnings to the next ultra in the near future. Cheers James
@@trailrunningphil the pain that I had on the side of the knee during the race has completely gone, that was just and inflammation of the IT band. However there was a pain in my right knee which was caused by picking up some weeds in the garden 5 days prior to the race 🤦🏻, this is still there, which is really annoying, from what I can tell, I think Its a case of patella tendinitis 😩. So just resting it for a week or two before I get back out there. Can’t wait to get running again ! I’ve just subscribed to your channel, so will check out your journey too, good luck in your training for the Thames path, and a word of advice, stay away from gardening 😂
@@Ijustkeptrunning I hear you about being desperate to get out to run! I finally picked up covid this week and it’s scuppered my training! Hopefully should be back on it again soon. Hope that peskey knee sorts it’s self out for you soon mate
