In this video, I'm celebrating my first week without marijuana. It's a big step in my journey, and I'm eager to share the experience with you.
➡️ This week was about detoxing and facing withdrawal symptoms. As a professional musician, I took time off to focus on my sobriety, especially with my first sober concert. The anxiety was real, but the support from friends, particularly one joining me in this year-long journey, made a huge difference.
Being sober in a crowd where others aren't was eye-opening. It's a stark contrast that really puts addiction into perspective. During our break, instead of the usual smoking, we had meaningful conversations. One friend even decided to join us in sobriety, committing to a month without smoking.
This journey has shown me the importance of a supportive community in overcoming addiction. The highs of marijuana were temporary, often leading to depression and anxiety. But now, in 2024, it's time for a change.
To everyone on this path, we've completed our first week! There are challenges ahead, but we're in this together. Your support and comments have been incredibly uplifting.
Thank you for tuning in. Let's continue this journey together, you don't have to face recovery alone.

✅ Welcome to the official RU-vid channel of Quitting Together, a place dedicated to those of us on a journey to recovery, especially from marijuana addiction.
This channel is not about demonizing marijuana; in fact, I acknowledge and support the right to choose. Marijuana can have positive impacts, as it did in my life for a long time. But, like many, I reached a point where it started to take more than it gave. If you find yourself in a similar situation, where marijuana has begun to overshadow other aspects of your life, I invite you to join me on this path to recovery.
➡️ Here, you'll find content that tracks my personal journey from day one of sobriety. This channel aims to provide a supportive community for those who are looking to break free from what is often considered a "non-addictive" substance, yet find it challenging to let go of. Each video is a step in the ongoing process of overcoming addiction and rediscovering the joys of a life not dependent on marijuana.
Whether you're newly sober, considering sobriety, or have been on this path for a while, there's something here for you. I share not only my experiences and challenges but also invite guests to discuss various aspects of addiction, recovery, and mental health. From professional insights to personal stories, each video is an opportunity to learn, grow, and find support.

The first 1-3 weeks is the worst. After that I honestly forgot about it. People can smoke around me and I don’t even crave it anymore. I smoked daily for 15 years. Good job man.

Congrats on one week!!!! So… today I’m on day 3 officially! I didn’t sleep the first night but did finally fall asleep around 1:30 in the afternoon yesterday… I woke up around 7:30pm and was actually able to fall asleep again around 2:30am. Woke up today at 9:00am and I’m honestly feeling pretty good. My anxiety levels are the lowest they’ve been in quite some time. With my Whoop band I can already see that my REM and deep sleep cycles are coming back. I don’t think we realize how much restorative sleep we miss out on as addicts. I feel like God is about to break into our situation and redeem the lost years. I’ve been running from His ways since Covid hit bc I gave into my fear. I’m truly as excited as ever to live the sober life. My wife and children deserve it so much. I’ve been stuck in the same place for almost four years and I just can’t believe I ever thought weed was actually helping me!!!!

This comment genuinely brought tears to my eyes man. Your family deserves this as does mine. You’re doing this, not only for yourself, but for them as well. And yeah, with the anxiety thing, it always makes me chuckle when people say, weed helps my anxiety, but that they have really bad anxiety. Weed helps your anxiety in the moment, but long-term it’s causing it so much more. Especially with the crazy strong stuff we have these days.I’m actually bringing my wife on in a few days to interview her all about how this addiction has affected her life for better or worse.

Sounds like you can't handle your weed and your REM sleep I've been smoking everyday for a decade and a half I dream vividly and can remember about 80% of my dreams so don't act like it affected your sleep or your anxiety you only quit because you have kids and a family which is understandable but don't act like you're doing it for any other reason there's nothing wrong with smoking weed it's not addictive it's more of a dependency because most adults have mental problems and the marijuana helps with some of them you don't realize it at first but your body does and that's why the body becomes dependent if you was addicted you would have physical problems like pain headaches but there's no such thing I quit smoking for 3 years due to a job of course I had no problem quitting but I still smoke today I guess just some of you can't handle it

That’s incredible! Yes, I cannot reiterate enough the importance of exercise. Not only does it give you something to do to distract you from your cravings, but your body will start to feel so much better because of it, and not feel the need to desire to be high all the time. I’m quitting on the 20th. I have reduced from 6am to 7pm in two days and deleted my ‘contacts’ number 😬. Do you have any advice ? Is phasing it a good idea, not sure I could handle the withdrawals if I went cold immediately Well done on the week, the daily updates is definitely giving me strength. Thanks
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether 7 месяцев назад
The best advice I can give to you is this. Even if you are slowly tapering off, at some point, you need to pick a quit date. Otherwise we taper off and on forever. It doesn’t have to be super soon, but picking one is a great first step. The next biggest piece of advice I would give is to see if you can take some time off work so that you are able to withdraw while just being at home. Me taking a week off of work This last week was amazing. I was able to get through the roughest parts while not having to worry about also doing well at work. I really appreciate you checking these videos out and I’m so proud of you for wanting to take this step. I know how difficult and scary it can be. It almost feels like you’re losing the Best Friend. But the fact that you’re here And commenting tells me that you’re ready. I’ll be here with you!

@@Quittingtogether really does feel like I’m losing a best friend. I’m definitely ready for this, but wasn’t sure if I was making excuses to by tapering. My thinking is tapering allows me to rebuild my previous meditation, exercise and reading habits. I imagine these will make the journey less painful. Thanks for the support. ( I can’t wait to update the comment section when I complete my first week )
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether 7 месяцев назад
@@i4nc4 here’s what I would say would be a good next step for tapering. Tell yourself you’re not gonna smoke today. You still have some but you’re gonna try your best not to smoke it. If you end up feeling super anxious or feeling like you need to that’s when you smoke, and then you don’t smoke again until you feel like you need to. I found that that is the only way that it works for me tapering it off. Otherwise what you will find is a day or two before you’re about to quit your fight or flight response will kick in and you will be smoking as much as you can. I actually ran out of all my weed one day before I was going to quit and instead of just quitting right then I went and bought another quarter and smoked the entire thing on my final day. it made it so that the withdrawal felt even worse when I stopped but either way it’s what happened. I’m really proud of you for taking this step. I genuinely mean that. It’s not easy.
@lorddawei
@lorddawei 7 месяцев назад
@@i4nc4 I attempted the tapering thing for a while. For me it was fundamentally an experiment to see if I could keep weed in my life, just in less problematic amounts. It failed. In the end we just need to bite the bullet.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience but there's no such thing as being addicted to marijuana you might have had a dependency maybe because you have some mental illnesses you don't realize you have weeds good for a lot of things and it helps a lot of people I've been smoking longer than you I've never had any medical issues I've eaten edibles and had really bad highs of course it's because people don't know how to regulate you eat the whole thing thinking you need to do that to get high but you don't the only problem we'd really causes not being able to get a job your family might not accept you because you're a pothead but there's no addictive properties to it I took a break for 3 years everybody says the first couple weeks is the hardest I didn't notice it all people like you give weed a bad name if you can't handle it bud just stop like you're doing now but don't force your viewpoints on other people
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether 5 месяцев назад
I’m sorry but all of the scientific evidence on this would absolutely disagree with you. I can send you as many links as you would like but you absolutely can be addicted to marijuana. There is currently over 500,000 people that are members of marijuana anonymous. There is countless scientific papers that have come out on this. I’m not here to tell anyone they should not smoke weed, but for those that have become addicted to it, they need to know that they’re not alone. What you’re saying is objectively propaganda at this point. The same way that people saying that weed is unbelievably dangerous is propaganda. The truth lies in the middle.
@Quittingtogether
@Quittingtogether 5 месяцев назад
I’m not forcing my viewpoints on anyone. But my viewpoints are backed by every scientific study that has been done on this topic. I encourage you to look up Andrew Huberman‘s episode that he did on marijuana.

@@Quittingtogether and I'm sure most of them people are doing more than just marijuana you're going to have to come with something better than some biased studies something more concrete which you'll never be able to produce there's a difference between dependency and addiction like I said in one of my other comments you're probably suffering what's addiction from another drug which I'm sure it's embarrassing talking about so you use weed as a soft bed to lay in let's say you're fooling yourself
