This is my first ever FTP Ramp Test on Zwift and it was something that I was NOT looking forward to.
I started road cycling during lockdown and I have never taken riding and training too seriously. Until recently, I have always been riding when I feel good or when the sun is shining, but now is the start of my cycling training program with an aim to put a cycling training plan in place to increase my cycling performance.
If you're new to cycling or Zwift, you might be wondering, "What is an FTP test?" Don't worry; I'll explain it all in this video.
FTP, which stands for Functional Threshold Power, is a crucial metric for cyclists and triathletes. It represents the maximum power you can sustain for an extended period, typically one hour. Knowing your FTP is essential for setting accurate training zones and measuring your progress over time.
I'll discuss why FTP is important for cyclists, how to prepare for the test, and what to expect during each stage of the ramp.
But it's not just about the numbers! I'll share my thoughts, feelings, and strategies as I push my limits and discover my FTP. You'll witness my determination, my highs, and maybe even a few lows as I give it my all.
What is Zwift?
Zwift is an online game for cyclists and runners.
With a smart trainer and a bike, any cyclist can enter the virtual world and compete against other riders from around the world. Zwift has many maps, consisting of mythological worlds and real-life cities.
Each rider can decide to ride around solo, with friends, or even join a race against similar-level cyclists from around the world.
There are even dedicated training programs that any rider can take on.
Whether you're an experienced cyclist looking to improve your performance or someone curious about the world of indoor cycling, this video has something for you.
