Hey Horse Lovers! Esmeralda's COLOR TEST RESULTS ARE IN! Now we will know her TRUE base color and potentially her end result color once she sheds out and develops over the years. She had some very interesting variants within her results, and some of them were a surprise. In this video you will get to see her and Belle graze and play out in the pasture and you will also get some one-on-one Ezzy and Belle facetime. CAN'T WAIT TO SHOW YOU THE RESULTS! For more back story information: in February, I purchased Belle from an auction and well... we discovered she was pregnant about 4 weeks later following a wellness exam and quarantine! We were completely shocked but also very happy. This will be our first foal ever born at Free Spirit Farm. Here is a little background information: Belle is a 7-year-old Dapple Grey, Draft who is just under 16.2hh. On 6/16/23 Belle gave birth to her MYSTERY FOAL at 1:15AM!!! We were so excited and overjoyed upon the foal's arrival! Belle had a beautiful filly and we decided to name her Esmeralda. Ezzy is bold, intelligent, kind, willing, and independent. We absolutely adore her and Belle! In this video you will get to see the foal training I have doen with Esmeralda thus far. I believe in a calm, gentle, natural approach in regards to training horses (and foals). Watch to see how baby Ezzy does during her session today! I am a bit of a color nerd, duns have sharply defined dorsals, when buckskins have dorsals they're usually 'fuzzy'. So fun getting to see her grow.

Yep! I think it's common in the UK for any 'buckskin' colored horse to be called 'dun' when they aren't actually Dun too. Buckskins don't have dorsals unless they have nd1 or nd2. Dunskins do exist though, that's a Buckskin with D (Dun). I LOVE color genetics too lol

I paused at 10:40, that is a beautiful picture of Belle and Ezzy! The Free Spirit Farm band did a great job with the musical accompaniment! P.S. : I hope the recent (July 26th) storms in southern Michigan didn’t cause any severe issues there for you and the animals. Many power outages here in the Detroit area and nearby; ours was out for 48 hours.

I just bought a book about horse coloring and genetics!!! There was a picture of a foal that looked so similar to Ezzy and the caption said it was a “buckskin going grey” and it mentioned that goggles around the eyes are a sign of greying out! Ezzy is such a pretty girl! And so is her momma! 😄🐎 Excited to watch as her color and size change!! 🥰

She’s very friendly!! Her test was heterozygous for grey. So she had one grey gene and grey is dominant so she will 100% go grey. Buckskins also have lighter eye color, so that could be the reason for her eye color, but foals do have funky eyes sometimes. Nd2 means no dun or dun dilution so she most likely will lose that dorsal strip. Enjoy your pretty fully

@@freespiritequestrian I honestly had a feeling she would be a Buckskin. And I would what she would look like when she reaches adulthood. My grandma had a white horse named Tessa. What interesting is that when she was born, she was black and she lightened as she got older until she was fully grown.

I love to see both of them move together they make a beautiful pair. I like when Belle reminds the other horses to stay clear of her baby. She is a no nonsense Mama. I still watch the video of her birth it is exciting so emotional. Seeing that video makes me happy. You all are blessed and living the dream. @@snowflow07 Do a screenshot of the point in the video that you want to save. In your pictures, select that one and use edit to crop the picture to correct size and position. Then somewhere in your phone’s settings you can save it to your phone’s Home screen or Lock Screen. If you have an IPhone there’s probably detailed instructions to guide you through what you need to do by using Apple shortcuts or something like that. Or ask a tech knowledgeable friend or family member to help you out. Good luck!

First I want to say that you did so well in your purchase of Belle. What a beautiful mare! I love her colors, her build and how she moves. And Ezzy is the "icing on the cake." Who knew you would also be getting this bonus foal. I love seeing Ezzy grow and mature. She is one spunky filly. Me and my sister both had horses in when we were young. I had a Tennessee Walking horse and my sister had a Quarter Horse - she couldn't ride mine and I couldn't ride hers LOL. I can no longer ride so thank you for taking me along on your journey. I loved how she was so curious and just walked over to you! I used to have a Buckskin mare. She had all 4 black lower legs, tail, and mane. She was beautiful. Oh yeah she was also 18 years old. Stood 15-3 hands high!

Ezzy has really started to fill out so nicely, lovely confirmation and as you mentioned thick boned. I can hardly wait to see her colour at a year and beyond. I love greys!! Essy is going to be an absolute powerhouse by the time she is 4 or 5 years old. She is going to need a strong rider, not that she will be difficult but because there is just so much horse there. Once her "go button" is pressed, someone is going to have an awesome ride.

I love watching you on RU-vid to see all of your very beautiful horses. I wish I could afford a horse for my son, but being a single widowed Mom, the funds are low and we really don't have a place or time for a horse. I was fortunate enough that my grandparents were the ones who bought 2 appie female sisters when I was about 13-14 years old and we had them bred to a stud and we were in awe when we found out we were blessed with a stud to gelding Red Leopard appie and a stud to gelding dark brown and black mane with a blanket on the rump and 2 white horseshoes on each flanks. Watching you engaging with your pretty horses just takes me back to my youth when we had them and was having fun and also went swimming with them. Here's to my youth and having fun with the horses.
