You do what makes you happy! It reflects in your work, which makes your real fans happy. An artist is not held to a schedule, their production is the only timeline that matters. I support you and look forward to any update that your channel drops.

We all need to change things up occasionally to keep our motivation and inspiration. And not only does your life as a creator change, but also the lives and habits of your subscribers can change. When I initially discovered your channel back when you made the Char b1, I was commuting to work nearly every day. I had loads of time to watch content on the train. Now I'm finding that I'm not watching many channels that put out multi-episode content because I fall behind with the series. I now seem to watch more self-contained, if individually longer, videos. So while I'm sure there are a few people who might not like this change, there will also be many more who love it. Happy Modelling! ❤

Martin, I understand your feelings fully, as an architect I know where your coming from and I have been wondering how you have kept up the schedule for as long as you have. I've been modeling since I was 6 years old that's 55 years and you are an inspiration while at the same time very entertaining. It's obvious how high your standards are from your models to the production of videos and most of all your respect for your viewers. Thanks for the hours of joy you have given and I look forward to what ever you decide for the future. And you are right your videos from "The Most Ugly Tiger Ever" are classic. Thank you. Best to you with your photography.

Dude, you have hands down the best scale modelling videos, tutorials and advice on RU-vid. My Dad passed during COVID and he and I used to paint up ww2 tanks when I was a kid; It was solely your videos that got me back into the hobby as a way to remember him. Martin, a couple points if I may! 1. You don't owe *anything* to anyone. I just found your channel recently and the amount AND quality of your content is truly second to none. 2. In a world where it seems to be all about quantity/saturation, seeing quality and attention to detail is a most welcome change of pace. 3. Most people have NO idea the amount of time you spend on filming, editing, voice overs, etc. That alone (much less the content) is mind boggling. 4. As someone who has been building primarily aircraft for about 30 yrs, your armor techniques have inspired me to do some armor kits AND have definitely improved my approach to building aircraft as well. 5. Lastly, you're a seriously funny dude. I enjoy your commentary as much as the content. Seriously! 6. You do what's right for YOU. I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge and expertise here on the interwebs. ;-)

As a traditional watercolour/pencil etc artist I can totally empathize with this. Your model making is most definitely is art, and to do it well you need to put your soul into it, often that does mean taking a step back a bit and finding real life and other joys to feed the soul and that results in getting that love and enthusiasm back for the art. I am sure everyone who watches will stick with you and your amazing work whatever and whenever you post👍 A happy Nightshift is what we all want I am sure!

One thing to keep in mind, even professional production companies like Netflix and television channels can't produce an episode EVERY WEEK, even with their huge resources, without taking breaks. There is just too much that has to be done, especially when one is actually doing something, like making a model and not just talking to the camera.

I'm super glad to hear that you're giving yourself the love that you need regarding the production grind. You're one of the primary inspirations I got into content production myself, and I have at least an idea of what's going into these content drops. The weekly production schedule is absolute insanity! I'll personally be just as enthused whenever your content comes out - even moreso now that I know you'll be putting yourself under less pressure to finish your beautiful art on a restrictive timer. Lots of love, brother. No worries - you don't owe nothin' to nobody

I was always amazed at how a human could complete such detailed models and dioramas in a few weeks, while FILMING them at the same time. It’s good that you’re giving yourself time to have a good life, and it’ll also give you time to focus on what makes your models so great. I may be a little sad about no more Friday uploads but if that means you’re gonna stick around and continue to make great(er) videos that’s 100% fine by me. You don’t owe any of us anything so the fact that you work so hard for these videos is crazy. You could do one video a month and it’d be totally fine. You can’t force art and if you stop enjoying the hobby and lose inspiration that’s far worse than any schedule impact, not to mention the personal impact overworking will have on you.

We will always be there for you! I started doing models last year in april and your videos always reignited the need to finish what I have started. I even incorporated a few techniques that I saw you use and they all felt great! Maybe if you feel like having no ideas for videos I may suggest you try something from Warhammer. I guarantee you it will be a different experience and you will get to use colors and effects that normally don't make much sense on historical models. Personally I would suggest Leman Russ, Rogal Dorn, Baneblade (these are all somewhat "regular" tanks) or some of the Space Marine hover stuff like Impulsor, Gladiator or Repulsor. These are just a few but there are many that would make a great (and diffrent!) hobby experience.

I thoroughly share your pain and totally get your reasons for taking your foot off the loud pedal. I have a monthly column where I build something for a leading UK railway magazine. During lockdown I had so much free time that I had 16 reviews in the pipeline, so effectively had nearly a year and a half's worth of material for my client. Fast forward to 2022 and I was scrabbling to keep up, was up against a monthly deadline and was working silly hours to keep up with this schedule. The result was that both my modelling and writing became rushed and confusing, and I was not bringing any fresh ideas to the table. That meant that I stopped enjoying what I was doing - and after all I started doing this because I enjoyed it! Sometimes you CAN have too much of a good thing, and if you take a step back, you will find new and fresher approaches as you are off the treadmill of life. You have 100% made the right decision. I have found it useful to produce shorter and simpler articles focussing on a couple of tips and tricks. They are easier to create, but still impart great ideas and the audience seems to enjoy them. It is not always about the hours that you put in, but what you put into the hours. You have a new subscriber by the way too!

Now, it’s a matter of balance…like obligations (I’m a husband and stepdad), health needs (still recovering from open-heart surgery), and creative energy. I learned early what you’re learning now: a work schedule made my hobby feel like a chore, an annoyance, not fun or exciting…it was draining, stressful, tiring. Now I only make what I want to…when I feel the energy/excitement, on my timetable. And yes…it’s more meaningful, more personal, more exciting. You’ve made a great decision. Take care…and stay happy in your hobby. Note: my entire family now loves saying “My friends” like you do. It’s awesome.

Love your channel. I don't care when or how offen videos are released.....just as long as you keep putting them out there.

If it works for you thats what matters most. Still watching as they come out. If you do something you love you'll never work a day is a lie, it just wrecks something you like

Love your content and what i continue to learn from you. I am half way through my first tank model and you are 100% the reason for trying a tank. Can't wait for your future videos when you release them.

I remember listening to an interview with Shepard Paine from Yeats ago, he was asked why we hadn't seen any of his work, his response was because it wasn't fun anymore, so you do you and have fun in what you do! We'll all still be here with you, whatever the time line may be!!

I totally understand where your coming from Martin. Once your hobby becomes a job... maybe it's not as fun anymore. I'm about to make changes to the way I make my videos as well and it worries me that some might not like the new format... like you said. In the end we have to make and do what makes us happy for the sake of out health and sanity. Good luck with the new you. Cheers!

Dude (yeah, I'm tons older than you), I'm going to be a subscriber at your channel as long as both of us are breathing. I don't really care about the frequency of videos. Every single time I watch you work, I learn something new. But even more important, every time I see you work, I get to experience the absolute joy of modeling. You are a gift. come up with whatever crazy ass idea you might have and Bang!, I'm clicking in to watch it. Remember this: the first rule of lifesaving (as in water rescue) is DO NOT DROWN. No one gets helped if you go under. Take care of yourself. Share with us what you learn and love. I'm pretty sure we're all going to be around for it. And thank you, by the way.

I'll miss hearing your voice once a week. It's always helped keep me sane no matter how hectic my life gets and you've been a great inspiration, but you've gotta look after you, best wishes and I hope you find your inspiration again.

I’d rather have content you are happy with rather than rushed content. I love you’re videos so much. You do whatever you need to do to make models and videos.

Thats perfect, I think that some videos were kinda rushed and stuff and this format is perfect for not only me and probably more viewers, whatever makes you happy makes us happy

I haven't been a super long-time viewer but your videos have been super inspiring and have given me a lot of drive to continue my own scale modeling projects. At the end of the day, you need to do what's best for you and your long term health. I'll watch whatever you put out, whenever you put it out.

One of the things that set your channel apart from other modeling channels was that your genuine enjoyment showed through, an that's what made the videos truly great. if you don't enjoy this anymore, nobody else will either. Glad you're doing what's right for you.
