I love, love watching you n getting real honest advice!! Something I do to feed my plants, a “compost” of sorts, I’ll take my banana peels, egg shells, etc n blend them with water until it’s like a watery paste. Then I make holes near my veggie plants (careful if the roots) n pour in the mixture in the narrow holes, cover with dirt, I kid you not, every handful of dirt has tons of earthworms! I kinda help speed up the break down of the scraps🤣 I garden in large above ground plants and my veggies are off the hook!!

Nice breakdown on fertilizer, I used to use Neptunes harvest as well, I’ve been trying the agro thrive think it’s pretty similar results. Do you grow any pineapple or dragon fruits?

It’s called a Lifetime shed. You buy it as a kit and put it together. I love it. It’s very well made and has held up to our storms down here. It’s a mess right now but I’ll try and do a shed organizing video soon

@@HomegrownFloridaZ9a I just did my garage roof myself. And I saved enough money to build a shed. And I'm planning on an 8 x12. Shed. with the lumber prices. I figure it's going to be about $2000. I'm definitely going to look into something like yours. First, it might be worth the effort to get one and put it together VS building. Another question I had for you. Is I just planted a Florida king peach tree? I see you have a peach tree. How old is your tree and are you getting any fruit trying to figure out when I can expect a peach or two.

That’s a good variety for Florida. I have a playlist for fruit trees on my channel if you want to check that out. Mine is 6 years old. It produced fruit on its second year but only about 6. 3rd year about a dozen. 4th year is when I started getting a lot but I thin mine out otherwise you get small fruit and it could cause the tree to produce badly the next year. I’m expecting about 200 peaches this year.

Hi Petrina, thanks for your help with the peas and beans earlier, they still aren’t looking great, so not sure what happened. But this was super helpful for my fruit, but I have 2 questions for you. First, what plum varieties do you have? And second, how do you apply coffee grounds to your plants? Do you just add them to the soil, or do you mix with water and steep? I was going to add some to my blueberries and I use k-cups, so was just thinking of adding the grounds from one cup to each plant. Since it’s such a small amount, I wasn’t sure if it’s ok to add directly to the soil. And also, one other thing, what’s the best way to tell when your potatoes are done? One of my grow bags the leaves have all yellowed and the tops are all dying out. They are within their harvest time, but I wasn’t sure how long to leave them before pulling. I’m going away for a few days late this week and will be back on Sunday, but I’m wondering if I should pull them out before I go or if I can wait until I get back. As far as I can tell, there is no rain in the forecast these week, since I was wondering about them rotting. Thanks again for your help!

The plums I have are from the Gulf series, beauty and rose. For coffee grinds I actually use the ones after we’re done brewing our coffee and I just put them on top. I don’t even mix them in. I dumped them in the plant after every morning. Your potato should be fine until you get back. Usually you want to harvest them when the plant is completely dead. Even if you let them wait a few days after that, they should still be fine.

Hi Trina I always love your videos I live in Florida 10b i have a question for your blueberries not sure if you have a video on them but I’m watching others , but you are a great teacher😂 could you do a video on blueberries and how to keep the ph lower how often for that stuff. I heard once a season once a month. The direction is normally in ground use . berry tone as well as the acidifyer, banana peel compost tea. I also use compost for my banana plant I set planters on top and put food scraps leaves and stuff I use to bury it until I ran into the roots. 🥴 water it from the the containers feeding it. I follow Robbie and Gary from ca she has taught me so much cold compost feeds your plants. I currently have 5 pups 😱😁🥰we have to get those out letting them grow to at least 18 in. Thanks for letting me just ramble 😂

A blueberry video would be nice. I have several that struggle and they are in containers. I know for sure the ph is good. I have a high quality soil ph tester. Im going to be planting them in ground soon, once I find the spot.

Great video Trina. I live in Deltona 9b and I use sulfur and garden tone on my blueberries. They r loving it so far. I have more fruits and bigger fruits this year than ever before. Have u tried it? I can buy the garden tone in bulk size and it saves me money.

I’ve been using the soil acidifier from Espoma. I believe it contains sulfur. I just got some hollytone to use instead of berrytone to add a little more acid. My blueberries seem to really be enjoying it

I thought garlic & onions needed P &K to form bulbs. I sprinkled bone meal back in March and fish emulsion on April 1st, what will that do to them?

The phosphorus and potassium definitely won’t hurt with the bulb development, but usually with garlic and onions, you want the green to get as big as possible before they start bulbing. the best way to do that is with nitrogen. The more leaves and the more robust the plant the more layers and size you’ll get from the garlic and the onions.

Thanks for the tips and always terrific advice. This is kinda funny…I’ve been using Neptune Harvest fish emulsion and/or the tomato/veg one all along since I started gardening last May. Just today I ordered the Alaska brand because it was currently significantly less expensive . Hopefully it won’t end up being a if it ain’t broke don’t fix it situation. Have you ever had little mushrooms grow from your home grown compost? After 11 months I thought I’d use the compost I’ve been making in my tumbler. The little thin stemmed ‘shrooms are only in that new bed so I’ll thinking they must be from my compost. I’ve been picking them out and tossing in the trash since I don’t know enough about them to either leave them or recompose them. Oh, btw I’ve never added any mushrooms to my compost tumbler either. I’m puzzled.

Mushroom spores are very common and compost and it’s actually very beneficial. It shows a symbiotic relationship between the bacteria and the fungi that’s been produced in the compost. It’s not necessary to remove them but you can if you are concerned with children or pets eating them.

I kinda suspected as much although as with all things gardening it got me wondering whether I may have used the compost too early and then you talked about simply burying kitchen scraps for the bananas so I’d been hoping it was ok and beneficial. I had a small crop but since pulling them they’re almost gone already now. One of the best things about this new hobby for me is all the new lessons to be learned and finding solutions. You’ve been a big part of the solutions. Thanks again. Happy gardening (& camping).

What's your recommendation for squash? I've always struggled with how to properly care for squash so your insight would be great💞. PS, I'm in the Florida panhandle so similar growing conditions, not quite as tropical as where you are.

Treat your squashes like you treat your tomatoes. So look for a flowering fertilizer. My two favorites would be the Espoma tomatotone granular, and the Neptune Harvest tomato and veg liquid.
