Thanks! Plumber quoted me $350 to do this! Then he leaned in and whispered “Please don’t pay me $350 for a 10 minute job that will cost you $2 to do yourself. RU-vid it and do it yourself. It’s easy!”

Hi, question my disposal kerps tripping breaker. I've done the allen wrench twist underneath, broom stick trick and it keeps tripping. It does leak and has leaked for awhile even when it did work. Can the leaking be tripping breaker? Its plugged into a GCI and then powered by a wall switch. Unit is 2 years old. Thanks
Golden Ninja 50 Thanks for watching. The leak may be causing added moisture to the lower fuse which in return, may be triggering the trip. We recommend inspecting all electrical wiring & ensuring all wiring is in good safe working order. You will want to get a new Disposal if it’s leaking at the bottom. Keep us posted. Something in my disposal broke(while I was using it) and it is gushing water from several places in the bottom when I turn on the water. I have to think it is traveling through the motor compartment. Any ideas? I did fish out some pieces of plastic fork from the top.
brad h Thanks for watching & sharing your experience. Safety 1st, make sure you unplug Disposal from Outlet before moving to next steps. This has happened to us in the past. It made us think that our Disposal was 100% ruined. A few things you can do. 1. With your Disposal off, run water full open & use your Unclogging Disposal tool & try to loosen up object. 2. Try removing object if you can see it. 3. Fill entire sink full of water & then turn on Disposal. This will allow the water pressure to possibly remove object. Let’s start there. Keep us posted. One of the three screws is rusted shut and will not turn. I was able to turn the housing so the stuck screw is on the outside of the upper housing. Did I hear you say that it could be pried off?

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders thanks! Putty did its proper job!! No leaks from the top. However, I noticed the brand new disposer leaks from the bottom again...
@@DRAGOINTHEHOUSE unfortunately, I had to returned it. It must have been the seal that connects to the PVC pipe or something. The new one that I got, worked pretty well once installed properly. Best wishes!
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Leaking from the bottom indicates possible symptoms of internal damage to the parts as well as the main plastic shell or case that houses all parts. In the past...leaking from the bottom is signs leading to replacing the entire unit as a whole. After you get the new one installed you will be extremely happy with the new update...you will no longer be poring money into the old unit. @@DIYwithMichaelBorders no. I don't use the dishwasher ever and the hose wont stay connected in the back of it so im just disconnecting it. thanks for the reply
Suyog Valsangkar Thanks for watching! That’s a good question & it really comes down to where exactly you will be using the tape. As always if the garbage disposal is leaking from the bottom seal it’s basically time to replace the entire unit with a brand new one. There are however friendly places on the Disposal that you can use plumbers tape however we recommend leaning more toward a more secure seal given by hose clamps ... Hope this helps! DIY With Michael Borders thanks for the tip I just found out there’s water leaking from the bottom but not from a hole. There are two machine cut incisions at the bottom where the water is coming out from. Thanks for replying so fast great vid btw
DIY With Michael Borders well I probably would and my insurance would cover it but if it can be fixed by removing something clogging up the unit then I would rather do that because this disposer still has about 1-2 years more of service left

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Let’s get this figured out. You may have a jam. 1st thing to do is unplug garbage disposal and cut all electrical power to the unit. Next, you can use the jamming tool or the proper size hex key to un-jam disposal. Below is a link to our video showing this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kKL_vgwtR60.html Next, check to ensure that your lower breaker is pushed in. The most important part of the re-assembly where the flange at the bottom that is mated to the top part got skip. ( The ring , re-tightening of the bolt, etc.). I can figure it out, but this is suppose to be a detailed instruction so just a little bit to be desired. But, thanks anyway, I can figure it out from here.

Thanks for checking out the video! What exactly are you experiencing with your unit? If leaks...have you narrowed down the leak point? Subscribe to the channel that would be awesome! Thanks again!
The leak is coming from the pipe connected to the disposal. Started when my washing machine still had water in it after I finished a load. (other words, it didn't drain all the water out of the machine because it was backed up) It might be a clogging issue as well somewhere in the house. I saw the "plumbers putty" in the video and immediately got intimidated. It's funny. There was a plumber next door that very day at my neighbor's. I'm thinking she's having the same problem. Thanks for the help. I've subscribed. =)
_rmaze_ Quiambao 😀 very cool! Is it leaking from the rubber hose or the hard tube below the rubber hose? You might just need to tighten your clamp with a screw driver. Thanks for Subscribing ! 😀👍
You did a great job until we went under the sink and you showed everything from the paper gasket to the snap ring in place. You skipped plenty of steps for me to give the 230th thumbs down. I know those steps now but not from this video...
