Nice job, just a couple tips from an old electrician/technician (retired).... 1). on your livescope black box, it produces a lot of heat. I put some spacers under mine to allow air to flow behind it as well for cooling, especially in the summer months. The carpet in my boat is similar to yours and acts as an insulator. I put a couple HDPE (poly board) strips behind mine. The cooler you keep it, the more efficient it is on power and its better for the health of the electronics . 2) on twisting the wires together...the problem with the twist is the d/c creates a magnetic field around each wire...one positive(supply), one negative(return) which becomes opposing magnetic fields and can cause more power consumption. The twist magnifies this effect and also uses more wire. I used wire sheaths to bundle power wires together and pulled the sheath through my hull. This also allowed me to keep power wires away from my data and transducer cables. Really enjoyed your video walk through. Really like your set up and hope you have improved you catching !!! Thank you young man, keep up the good videos !! God bless, tight lines.
@awidman75
@awidman75 3 года назад
Thank you for the comments. I will definitely put some spacers between it! It’s too late to untwist the wires, but I did run them up the opposite side of the boat as where the transducer cables are to help with interference! Tight lines to you as well. Take care.

Big time agree on point 2 as an aircraft mechanic... If your worried about trying to run wire, get a wire feeder from harbor freight. you can link the rods together to connect around 30 feet of maneuverable rods. I did it on my boat when I ran my 10gage wire to the front for the livescope.

We upgraded our boat. Changed the single 102sv at the bow by adding a 126sv above it. Now we have a designated graph for livescope up front. We changed the console graph from a 93uhd to a 126sv. The Dewalt 20v5ah would no longer run these and the livescope for the four hours they had been. We are changing to a LiTime 12v100ah Lithium battery to run our electronics. Added the battery to the boat inside the forward dry storage, right in front of the console. The LiTime battery costs the same as a 20v10ah Dewalt battery. Having used it, I do not recommend the Dewalt system. Voltage drops quickly from 16.8 to 11.8. The graph then sounds an alarm and shuts itself off. There is a reason Garmin does not recommend this type of battery hack. Low voltage can damage your expensive graphs.

Hello it’s nice to know your in the Kansas City Mo area I used to be a avid cat fisherman and now we decided to try our luck at crappie fishing using the live scope and it’s features. I have a 1999 Prince Craft Venture 221 Deck boat that I’ve mailing converted to a catfish/ fishing boat. I’m going to have to be creative to run the wiring up front on the bow. I’ve remove the two bench seats and installed pedals mounts on the lower portion of the boat, I don’t think I need all the units you show on your boat just one on the console and the other one upfront between the two seats. I’m concern on how to connect the units to ensure the proper connections. I like the idea of the 20volt powering system just want to make sure I’m doing it correct.

Just a quick question on the install. I just purchased the 93sv UHD and livescope with the 32 transducer. I wanted to hook up the 93sv to my cranking battery and my idea was to hook up the LS on the seelite adapter. Would this cause issues with the 93sv because the LS would be getting 20V of power and the 93 is rated up to 18?
@davidmclaughlin5345

Great video, thanks for sharing! One question, why install the switch to black box, when you can kill the transducer power at your graph? Garmin has a video showing how to do this versus adding the switch.
@awidman75
@awidman75 3 года назад
I just didn't want to have to go in to the graph each time to turn it off. Also, the black box draws power even when the ducer is off from my experience. The switch was an easy fix, and I don't have to remove the battery each time to turn the LS off.
@davidmclaughlin5345

@@awidman75 so you are saying the black box is pulling power without the transducer on. I will have to put DC current probe on it and see how much current is actually being drawn. How did you wire your Dewalt to your Black Box. I understand how the battery works, but how did you wire the base that the 20V lithium battery slides into to the black box?
@awidman75
@awidman75 3 года назад
It’s pretty simple, there’s a black and red wire that comes off the base, and that can hook directly to the wire harness that comes on the black box. I also installed a switch between that, and all you do is put that between the two red power wires. Thanks for watching!

@awidman75
@awidman75 3 года назад
I was planning on putting them in the same place, but then I saw the size of the GMS 10. It's HUGE! And with the cables coming off it, it's even bigger. They are only about 3 feet away from each other in the boat. This way saved me space to still store the anchor light pole, and the seat pedestal in the rod locker. It was also a cleaner more organized install this way.

I'm in the process of fitting a new boat with 2 garmin 93sv UHD units. It's an aluminum boat with a jet unit instead of a prop because one of the main rivers I fish has a HP limit. Weight is a critical factor in anything I put on my boat. I want spot lock technology and have settled on a 55# terrova trolling motor so I can stay at 1 12v battery up front. I'd planned to run the console unit off my cranking battery, along with my lights and bilge pump, and then my front UHD graph with the dewalt tool battery option you have installed here. I see that Seelite offers that same adapter in 18v Milwaukee instead of the 20v dewalt. Would this be a better route for me to go? Also, how many hours can you run your livescope on the 20v batteries and will I lose some time with an 18v set up instead of the 20 v? I had originally thought I'd run my garmin off my trolling motor battery, but I'm reading that it can cause interference with the graph. Thanks for the video! It's given me some things to think about.

So you say you have your garmin graphs being powered by your cranking battery. And the only thing you’re powering with your DeWalt battery is the GLS10 livescope black box? Do you get any interference, I heard from other people that the graph and GLS box have to have the same power source. What do you think? I’m asking cause I bought the livescope system and my 93sv is already hooked up to my cranking battery, I’d hate to have to rewire it. I’d much rather do like you did and just use that set up for the GLS box like you! Thanks in advance, loved the video!!🙏🏼
@awidman75
@awidman75 3 года назад
Thank you! I have had zero interference with my setup. The only thing running from the Dewalt is the Livescope. Supposedly, the live scope drains a lot of power out of your battery and your system throughout the day. That’s why I went this route. I take a couple extra batteries with me just in case. I usually don’t fish for more than six or seven hours at a time, so it’s usually not a problem to just have one or two batteries with me. Let me know if you have any other questions, and I hope you enjoy some of my other videos. Thank you for subscribing! PS I’m going to post a new video soon that is 30 seconds. How long of a charge on you getting on your black box with the Dewalt 20V battery? I have already ordered the seelite adapter and was going to use a 6ah Dewalt. Thanks for any info you can provide. Great vid.

Thanks for watching. I also ordered 6AH batteries for mine. I just got the offbrand from Amazon. They work great. They last about 7 to 8 hours each.

It doesn’t have a brand name on the battery. It’s just red and black. The model number is DCB206, but I don’t know if that’s specific for this battery.

Where did you buy your c light adapter and does it have 10 gage wire to the LS?
@awidman75
@awidman75 3 года назад
I bough the adapter on the Seelite website. I did include the link in the description of this video. The adapter has about a 6 to 8 inch wire that’s probably about 14 or 16 gauge. It doesn’t run very far, so I wasn’t worried about the gauge of that wire. Thanks for watching!

How much time are you getting on your Dewalt battery for the black box?

About 6 hours per battery. I always have an extra battery with me if I fish more then 6 hours. Thanks for watching!

What gauge wire did you run from the adapter to switch to blackbox?
@awidman75
@awidman75 2 года назад
Thanks for watching. I don’t think I had to extend the wire that came out of the black box to the adapter. I just used what came with the black box. It’s very close to where the adapter is mounted.

Sorry for the delay. I did go and look, but I’ve got it tucked in pretty good to where I would have to take out the whole switch to see how it was wired. It came with a wire diagram and that’s what I used and followed to hook it up. I will see if I can find something online that has a wire diagram that might help you. Stay tuned!

I found the wire diagram. It is on the Amazon page where you buy the switch. It was the second or third picture of the product. They have a little wire diagram of what each color goes to.

I've read a bunch on this and have heard that the black box gls10 and the units need to have the same power source. Have you had any issues?
@awidman75
@awidman75 2 года назад
Thanks for watching. I’ve had no issues the way it’s wired. I have since upgraded to two 106sv units and kept a 93sv UHD. So three units wired to staring battery, and then the black box on the DeWalt adapter.
