My custom settings (as of now):
C1: (My full-speed regular mode)
- C4K 10 bit 150M 23.98p (24fps, 100% full speed)
- Cine-D
C2: (My 60p 4K slowmo mode)
- 4K 8 bit 100M 24p (VFR)
- VFR ON (Set 60fps, 40% of full speed)
- Cine-D
C3: (My 120p slowmo mode)
- 1080p FHD 8 bit 100Mbps (VFR)
- VFR ON (Set 120fps, 20% of full speed)
- Cine-D

Question for you. I just got a gh5 and still learning the settings. If I choose 4k 24p 8bit or 4k 30p 8it I have a huge motion blur when I or something in picture moves across the screen but if I choose 4k 60p 8bit it all goes away. Even when I try slowmo on the same 24p or 30p and boost to 60 I get a crazy motion blur. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks

So that blur you're seeing at 24 and 30p is very normal - and I dont think it looks bad. In fact, it's considered cinematic, and people spend lots of $ on ND filters to achieve that type of blur. Our eyes see, roughly, in 24 frames per second. Wave your hand in front of your face - it will look blurry just like it does on video in 24p. 60p isn't as blurry because it's simply capturing more frames. It has nothing to do with bit-depth by the way. It's a framerate thing. If you don't like the blur, simply record in 60p and don't play it back in slow motion. Hope this helps my man!

What are the other 2 stored areas for? There was C3-1, C3-2 and C3-3. Why do they call them C3? And what is the C1 and C2 in the menu? This is what drives me crazy about the GH5...why can’t they just call the menu items C1 C2 and C3 to correspond with the rotating knob on the camera?

I'm strugling on something, my c1, c2 and c3 aren't in film mode, I don't know how to say it but for exemple I can't change the exposure mode in it and it doesn't have the same camera logo in the left corner of the screen, in the menu the special video menu is also missing, I can't get to change to 180 fps, please heeeeelp me

You could also change the ss to shutterangle and just leave it 180degree. ;)

@@ConnorRickey the only problem I have with this C1-C3 is the white balance, you always have to change the value again after changing the C mode or switching the camera off. But I'm very new to the GH5, I know super late to the party.

Reinhard Biller yeah white balance is something you usually just need to adjust every time your lighting changes unfortunately. Welcome - the GH5 is still awesome!

@@ConnorRickey not just when the lighting changes.. when you are in C1 and set the white balance according to the scene, and then change to C2, you have to set the white balance again to the same value.. and when you change then back to C1 you have to change again! This is a bit annoying. In my opinion it doesn't make sense that the white balance is saved with the custom settings C1-C3, instead white balance should be a general set value. Yeah, that's true!

Hello, I'm having trouble with this! When I save a profile under c1 it works fine but the moment I save another profile under c2 my c1 gets reset to something else and no longer matches what I originally set for c1.

Great video thank you! Could you, or anybody, tell me what gives the best slow-mo quality: Shooting with variable frame rates, or shooting with 60fps, and slowing it down in Premier Pro (Modify/Interpret footage...). I would really appreciate getting some information on this. Thank you!

Both! Just depends on the situation. Manual almost always, except for when I'm vlogging with a wide angle lens.

Hey Connor, Your video was really helpful. I've set up VFR 120fps & saved it. (Shutter is set at 180d.) I no longer see the fstop number in the lower part of the view finder. If you know what I've done wrong, I'd love to know. Searched Google but didn't find an answer. Thanks!

I have been using GH series cameras since the GH2, but my GH5 will not reliably save custom presets. Immediately after setting a custom setting, if I switch to a different one and then back to the saved custom setting, certain items like custom white balance and ISO will be completely different. Changing a battery always wipes out many of the custom settings, too. This has burned me so many times on set that I simply can't trust the custom settings any more. I have done a factory reset, but to no avail. Any idea what I may be doing wrong? I really like the GH5, but this issue is quite frustrating.

I have also experienced this when it comes to the white balance. My ISO is always saved. Haven't found a fix yet. Sorry I can't be more help. I'm looking for a fix myself!

@@ConnorRickey I recall reading somewhere that you should be in the ""M" movie mode when setting up video settings to a custom "C" preset. That is how I used to do it, and it worked reliably on my GH3 and GH4 cameras, but it hasn't made any difference on my GH5 camera. I've been burned so many times that I just stopped using the custom presets.

@@davidp158 Yeah that’s a huge issue. At the end of the day, I see the custom presets as a luxury anyways. It’s not enough for me to stop using the GH5. Most cinema cameras don’t even have that option to begin with. But yeah, total bummer!

@@davidp158 maybe the inner batter needs changing? Not the main battery, but like the cmos battery. I’m sure there has to be one.
