Jonathan Davis wrote this for his then fiancée Renee Perez. They were married on November 28, 1998, but divorced in 2000. Davis: "Renee always wanted me to write her a love song and that's why I called it "My Gift To You." It's my gift to her, you know how I get sick. I always had a fantasy of f--king her and choking her to death. I fantasize about what it would look like me in her body and watching me do it. So it's like a really sick f--ked up song. I did it totally like, I love her so much, I want to take her out of this world. It's really strange. She used to leave notes on my pillow like 25 ways she'd like to kill me. She's got this weird death fetish. We're kinda f--kin' freaky. She got it. She's all 'Thank you that's kinda f--ked up. I was expecting a f--kin' I love you, baby kinda song.' I'm all, 'No, you know me.' I mean I can't do that."

I like Korn - at least what I've heard by them, which includes the albums Life is Peachy and Take a Look in the Mirror, which are my two favorites - but that's my first time hearing this specific song, through this reaction video. I think the issue with it is that it's not exactly the type of song made to be sung along to. The chorus especially is rather static. It seems every band has at least one song like that. Like My Pain by Slipknot. It's like these types of songs have a different purpose than to be added to a playlist, sung along to etc. At least that's my impression.

Never heard this song before. It started and I was like, this shit is bomb, it's lit, maybe even fire. Then he started singing and it was downhill from there. I will never hear this song again. Lol. BTW, calm down haters. Lol. I love Korn but honestly they lost me a little. I have most of their albums except for their last couple which I have heard nothing from them. I personally love this song, as someone who just stumbled upon this reaction/channel. It’s like reading a journal entry that you’re not supposed to see. It’s in one of my goth playlists, along w a lot of NIN and Pop 1280 and Siouxsie songs relating to uncomfortably sexual thoughts. Sexual deviance.

@@t1ag217 well, that’s probably wrong considering it’s actually one of their best songs in a lot of fans eyes, including my own. You just have to understand the story behind the lyrics before you knock it as a “shock factor/fear factor” song

Yeah, not one of my favorite Korn songs, either. I love the classic Korn albums like Follow The Leader, self-titled, etc., but this particular song (as well as Daddy on self-titled, easily their most disturbing song) are just kind of there for 'shock value', in my opinion. For anti-love Korn songs, I go for the songs Black Is The Soul, Somebody Someone, or Trash.

@@katbutnohat No, I think it was therapy and had some value, in a way, for Jonathan and what he went through. I consider My Gift To You more for shock value, because Jonathan purposely wrote it that way when his wife (at the time) asked for a love song, basically. I could've worded my comment better. I just think the song Daddy is very intensely emotional, deeply personal to Jonathan (so much so that they've barely ever played it live), plus it has the shocking subject matter of the song and emotional breakdown towards the end. It feels to me like listening to someone almost reliving/retelling a horrible experience, going through all the emotions of it. Not something I'd want to listen to often and put on a playlist, personally, but I understand that not everyone feels the same way about it.

Daddy is my favorite because of the fact that I can relate to the story behind the creation of it so deeply that it sort of helps me cope with my own experiences. It helps me realize that I’m not alone when it comes to these kind of things, therefor making it easier and way more enjoyable for me to listen to it. It’s my favorite song of theirs, and it 100% is not just for shock value, it came from the heart and soul of the wonderful artist that is Jonathan Davis

This one's a no for me. Not a Korn fan. I kind of liked Freak on a Leash back when it came out. It seemed to get a lot of airplay. But his whiny voice is just irritating, to me. Probably not a popular opinion. I did like the bagpipes, though. My grandfather played them. I'm looking forward to hearing what else you chose. 😆
