Great reaction. Sarah told John about Kyle being his father, and taught John everything that Kyle taught her. John then taught all of that stuff to Kyle in the future, and Kyle taught all of that stuff to Sarah in 1984 (as we saw in the movie). John knowing that Kyle was his father, purposely gave the photo to Kyle and likely told him stories about Sarah so that Kyle would want to volunteer to travel back in time.
A fabulous classic and a good reaction, although I'm generally not crazy about re-watches.
