Fun Fact - if I remember correctly, in the Lore behind Terminator, they only made one T-1000, because it was basically their last ditch “break glass in case of emergency” model. It was fully autonomous, not under direct control of Skynet, and was so advanced with its own free will that they were afraid it would turn against Skynet and fight with the Humans. The previous Terminator models were all set to “Read Only” and couldn’t really learn, which is why they do the reset on Arnold’s Terminator in this movie so it’s machine learning is switched on. The T-1000 is allowed to learn, which is what makes it so dangerous to Skynet

I love the fact that Robert Patrick (T-1000) got special training to run like he does when he chases John out of the mall, running without moving his head too much, running and it not look like he's breathing/winded and running efficiently, he was so good at it that the first couple of takes he actually caught up with the bike so he had to run slower to not catching him to fast. He also very rarely blinks as T-1000 and he would for close ups actually hold his breath so it would look like he wasn't breating at all. That's dedication to the role.

The t1000 works by every drop of liquid metal functioning as a machine like nano technology. It doesn't see visually like people or the t-800 model but has sensory awareness of its surroundings. It also make itself stretch out to imitate others but that leaves empty pockets on the inside.

This film strongly reflects the idea introduced by Kyle Reese in the first film that he comes from "one possible future," suggesting that history is subject to change. The future Kyle grew up in doesn’t have to be the same for Sarah and John Connor if they succeed in preventing Judgment Day, meaning the events of August 29, 1997, may still be averted. Much like the X-Men: Days of Future Past comic, the film concludes on an open note, leaving us uncertain about whether this dark future has truly been stopped. Only time will tell. There's an alternate ending for this film that shows an elderly Sarah Connor in a utopian Los Angeles in 2029, watching over an adult John Connor and her grand child in the same playground she once had nightmares about. A timeline in which Judgment Day was prevented and John grew up to become a father. I’m not sure which version of the film includes this ending, but I’ve seen some reactors watch that ending. It's not the "canonical" ending but I guess you could argue that it's canon within a certain timeline. The time travel in The Terminator films can be confusing, but I’ve always understood it this way: every time someone travels back in time, they create a new timeline. The actions taken in this new timeline don’t affect the one they just left. So, the Kyle Reese we saw in the first film couldn’t change his own timeline, but he could protect Sarah Connor and potentially create a timeline where Judgment Day never happens.
@LittleGalaxyBoy
@LittleGalaxyBoy 2 часа назад
Side note: I actually recommend checking out the other films, even though some people older than us like to pretend that only the first two Terminator films exist. Personally, I think the sequels offer unique takes that are enjoyable in their own right, with Dark Fate being a personal favorite of mine. I'd also highly recommend Terminator: Zero (2024), an anime that was released just a few months ago. It does some really cool things with the timeline, explaining it better than any of the films that came before it. Set in 1997 Japan as well so a very differant setting to the more American focused films.

There was also some deleted scenes in the extended version that show him start to malfunction after he is frozen and then thawed back out and that is why he can no longer replicate other's voices and why he has Sarah call out to John instead of just doing it himself. Also in the deleted scenes his shape-shifting his malfunctioning and anything he is touching or in close proximity to his body will start to replicate that instead.

James Cameron held off on making T2 for *years* until the right tech came along to do this movie the right way. The software to create the T1000 effect was created and perfected during Cameron's previous movie, The Abyss (which you should also see!). When the software guys demonstrated what they could do, Cameron knew he could finally make the sequel he wanted! To this day, I am super impressed with all the creative ways they used the liquid metal idea -- not just impersonating people, but melting into the floor, walking through a jail door, stabbing through the elevator doors and then splitting to become separate crowbar arms, that in-place reversal against the wall at the end... They really maximized the options so effectively that NONE of the sequels could really improve on it at all, and they all had to just recycle gags from T2. Cameron went for broke and made one of the greatest movies of all time.

Funnily enough, there is an explanation (of sorts) about how the T-1000 (liquid metal Terminator) works in the film's novelization. It explains that Skynet created the T-1000 pretty much by accident, and that it itself, the vastly intelligent AI that is actively destroying humanity... DOESN'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS EITHER, and not only that, but Skynet is fuckin SCARED of the T-1000 too (or at least, as scared as a computer CAN be). It describes how it's functions and systems are a complete mystery, and how Skynet itself doesn't trust the T-1000 with it's own safety. As powerful and special as the T-1000 is, Skynet is actively frightened of it's potential, and basically sent it back to kill John primarily to get rid of the damn thing.

The film crew refused to film it, as they were convinced they would be filming someone kill themselves. The scene with the playground was genuinely shocking The special effects crews knew they were making something special, but it wasn't until it had been through editing that the full impact was realised The terminator morphing up through the tiled floor was one of the most expensive special effects ever. MIT and Carnegie Mellon University have been working on programmable matter AKA Claytronics for at least 20 years now. A bunch of small simple robots that network and function as one. The goal is to get them down to the size of molecules and at that scale it would look like a liquid. As of today they have them as small as a pin head and they can form shapes, navigate mazes and move objects. In Terminator lore, Skynet only made one prototype for the T-1000 because Skynet couldn’t limit the sentients of it the way it did for the previous terminator models and Skynet knew that if it couldn’t be controlled, it was a threat.

It had a real jacket and everything. The amount and level of practical effects put into this film is just insane. One thing I appreciate about that is the filmmaker understood that the human mind can tell the difference between real things and things that are not. Like fire and plants for instance. Our mind registers all that. So they minded this while constructing everything here and obviously it pays off with the impact on the audience. While the story, direction and acting is excellent it those little details that carry it over the finish line.

The ultimate sequel of the 1990s and highest grossing of the franchise. No. 1 film of 1991 (over half a billion $) with several award wins including 4 Oscars. The merchandise alone was as huge as the film. Arnold is great as always in becoming the heroic T-800. Robert Patrick was perfect as the T-1000. Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor stepped up the game of female action heroes. Eddie Furlong in his film debut as Young John Connor was very good. Although this is the first of only 3 sequels in the original timeline, it's the one sequel that matters to most as an blueprint. Perfect filmmaking in every way for Sci-Fi and beyond. The theatrical or special extended edition works either way. Other than T1 (1984), Aliens (1986) and The Abyss (1989); this was the film that built James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment. 4 more movies (2003-2019) and a television series (2 seasons, 2008) exist. Either loved and hated or otherwise, it's a saga that's come a long way.

If I remember correctly, an early draft of the script for the first movie use the T-1000 instead of the Terminator and James Cameron intended Lance Henriksen to play the T-1000. However, the special effects weren't at a level to accurately create the T-1000 the way he wanted and the studio wanted someone more physically intimidating to play the killing machine. This led to Arnie playing the T-800 and Henriksen playing the cop investigating the events of the movie. James Cameron then got to adapt the T-1000 story into parts of this movie when the special effect had improved years later.

The T-1,000 is composed of a mimantic poly alloy. It has the inherent ability to mimic the color, pattern, and texture of anything it touches. Kinda like some species of octopus only more advanced and detailed.

This one deserves the director's cut.

The scene where the T-1000 is chasing John on the bike had to be reshot and reshot because the actor kept catching him so easily. He had to just slow down and make it look more dramatic in the end. But what cracks me up is the fact that you think the actress playing Sarah is like muscled-up because, she, uh isn't.

10:49 Possibly the Doppler effect, but in the 90's after this movie, a bunch of people remember a commercial with the scene that somehow was a milk ad. She killed him for drinking out of the carton. Now, if it was real, it wasn't on the air long for obvious reasons and last I heard no one can find it, but I too vaguely remember something like that.

Reacting so physically that a shelf gets knocked over when you see the licking scene is SO valid and real. I always HATED that!

None of us were prepared for this masterpiece. Little did we know, Terminator 2 is the greatest action film ever made. We had no idea. It was just FREAKING AWESOME. But after seeing T2 a million times later, we know just how great the movie is. It truly is timeless. Linda shouldve been nominated for Best Actress. Again, no one in 1991 could fully grasp how great Linda's performance was. But her Sarah Connor is one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female characters in film history. Linda's acting is a big part of that.

FYI: The SWAT Leader who discovers Miles and orders his men to evacuate is played by Aaron Norris, AKA Hank from Breaking Bad. :)

One of the best sequels (second parts) ever. For me on the 4-th place after "Godfather 2", "For a few dollars more", "LOTR: Two towers".

Perfect reaction to this iconic masterpiece of a Sci Fi sequel. Movies like this are why I miss the 90s my childhood. Perfect comparison at 23:46

This is my favourite movie of all time so it's always a joy to se someone experience it for the first time :) It's great that you didn't know about Arnie being John's protector in this one. Even before it came out a lot of fans were already speculating that he would be the good guy in the sequel so I don't know of anyone else who has ever got to see this film without knowing about that.

This movie made heavy use of twins... Linda Hamilton has a twin sister, in the dream sequence "soft, Mommy" Sarah Conner was played by Linda Hamiltons twin, and towards the end where there are real Sarah and terminator imitation of Sarah, one was Linda's twin. Also, in the deleted footage used in the extended directors cut there is a pivotal shot with both Linda and her sister. Oh, and the overweight security guard that comes face to face with himself? Twins.

The helicopter chase scene was 100% real. The stunt pilot, a man who used to fly into landing zones under heavy gunfire in Vietnam, thought flying under the bridge at high speed was ridiculous and had to be talked into it after almost quitting lol.

unfun fact: terminators specifically target doggos bc they can immediately tell the difference. Hence why t1000 unalived the poor doggo. (Kyle says this in the 1st movie, dogs alerted when the 1st attempt at human skin was made and happened to infiltrate the camp) also pretty sure in the novelization? he was digging thru the trash and finds a pizza box with a slice or two in it, having never had pizza he was gonna eat it but he saw a stray dog and he gave it the slice further cementing the bond humans/dogs shared in the future.

Yeah Terminator 2 isn't just the best Terminator movie but one of the best action moves ever 🤘🔥, if you watch the rest of the Terminator movies let just say they don't ever reach the heights of this movie again and that's putting it nicely although 2 of them in my opinion are at least very good to decent

The actor that played the evil terminator, he ran track in his youth or whatever. The studio had to tell him to slow down because he was faster than they wanted or needed. I believe he was faster than the cars or motorcycle.
