I’m new to reading maps and using gps and your videos are helping me so much!! Thank you Chris you make it so easy for this newbie to understand and navigate all the different apps & maps out there. Stay safe and happy trails🥾
Thanks so much, I’ve tried to use Gaia a few times and found it confusing. Your videos changed all of that. Now it just makes sense and I use it extensively for hiking, MTB, Dirt Biking and Jeeping. It really is a one stop shop for navigating.
Nice Exactly what I needed and much more! Only thing I can add is I like "USFS 2016" overlaid with "USFS Roads and Streets" since are both USFS they overlay perfectly and are complimentary.
The free version of Gaia will actually buffer a reasonable area around where you have used it online. This allows some offline usage for people who want to work with it a bit before spending any money on Premium. Based on this video, I think Premium probably still well worth the cost for active hikers, hunters, SAR personnel, etc.
I noticed the headline for this video when you posted it a month ago and download the Gaia app without watching your video. I've been playing around with it all month and have used it to route and save numerous trails I plan to hike in the coming months. Then today I finally watched this video and discovered that I've already learned most of what you demonstrated here, just by exploring the features. But had I not seen your headline a month ago I wouldn't have downloaded the app. Thanks.
Ha nice, yea, if you spend some time in it, it's pretty easy to wrap your head around, much easier than a Garmin for most folks. Glad you're enjoying it, I use Gaia all the time and love it.
Got Premium version recently after watching you mentioned every now and then. Free version is good, but Premium version is definitely worth it 👌 Thanks to you! Slowly learning to use different layers. So this introductory tutorial is very timely.
Hi, can you do a video on map and compass orientation and how it relates to gps navigation? I feel your teaching style would make easy work of this sometimes complicated subject. Thank you.
Newbie ? just purchased gaia premium thru your site......Awesome Video...looking thru NatGeo Trails for Paintbrush Canyon(Grand Teton) and it doesnt show the mile segments..is there a setting to show those or are they only on certain ones? If you have Time...Great ....If Not I understand
Just looked at the Grand Teton map it there are no distances. I'd say that's an exception and maybe an oversight on Nat Geo's end. I've used them all over and I think they always had the mileage. For example, if I swing north to the Yellowstone map, it has the miles. But nothing to switch on or off, it's just part of the map layer. 👍
