Thanks for your review, 704! The great battery life is thanks to the 18650 cell we've gone for: An LG MH1 3200mAh 🔋 We're waging a one-fox war on junk 18650s! 🦊
I like it but its a shame I can’t mount it behind red dot for airsoft. No one seems to make something that has these features and still be used as a nv scope for airsoft.
I hope I'm not out of line but you guys (nightfox) jumping in on this right after it's posted makes it look a lot like a paid advertisement vs an actual review. It's probably just my Normal skepticism kicking in though. I'm sure you folks offer great budget NV units. Too bad they are all sold out now.
@@justapropfpv2137 Although the upgrade for the Cub will be head mountable, I'm afraid it won't have the other features you describe, but your suggestion has been passed to our design team and will be something we'll look at in the future.
Just got my gen3 PVS14. Done with buying the cheap stuff only to get it and then return it. I saved 3 months and am very happy with the purchase. The white phosphorus tube is amazing
I have had experience with multiple digital night vision, lower-priced thermal, and Gen 3 night vision. I'd recommend getting one of those AGM thermal, price range from 350+, would recommend one around 800. Digital is really only good for stationary hunting.
Hey Night Fox let's do something like this with 1x magnification and helmet mounted with something like a affordable mount such as a Rhino mount. We need an affordable digital device like a pvs 14. You will sell many.
Man, I gotta get on this. So many different applications my kids & I could use this for, esp out at our camp in the woods. Them nasty little coyotes gonna get it 🐺💥👍 Thanks for sharing!
Geesh, if you are going post a glowing advertisement for them please at least show how it works in the dark woods and not a lit parking lot. Or show the parking lot with the unit vs without. There is literally no frame of reference to how it actually works.
@NoName99 NoFace88 We hear you and like your enthusiasm! They are currently in the hands of the Amazon restocking gods at the moment, we only have to wait for them to be fully processed into inventory, so should be available very soon. I hope this helps!
Have you thought about working with retailers besides Amazon? It would be great to be able to buy items from places that don't silence conservatives, like how they shut down Parlor.
Is it normal after using this for just a few minutes in darkness that when you bring it away from your eye..that eye is practically blind for a while?..totally black? or do i have a defective unit? I have it on lowest brightness possible and IR. I can see that the NV works fine but after using itthat eye is blind, which is worrying...unless that's normal.
Thats normal. If you are in a house at night with the lights on, and you turn all lights off and look outside, you'll be "blind" until your eyes adjust. Same concept.
Fun fact, they made this over a guy commenting in a video "They should make a mono version of this" a year ago I believe and they did, but sadly can't mount to a helmet.
@Hunter Bidenscrackpipe We hope you can review it and give us some advice if it's convenient for you. Because we would like to know the point we can improve. And Amazon has a better shipment and service. Can you make an order on Amazon? We will transfer the money to your PayPal first before you make an order on amazon. Please, let us know if you feel it is ok for you. I am looking forward to your reply!
Thanks for the review and heads up! I have the Nightfox Swift, the question im curious about does this model have the setting to use an external IR emitter opposed to the onboard emitter like the Swift model? Thanks!
Hello there, great question! The Nightfox Cub does have an IR0 setting the same as the Nightfox Swift, so you can indeed use an external IR emitter of your choice, we sell IR torches in both 850nm IR and 940nm IR. Choose which ever illuminator frequency you prefer for better range, or for stealth respectively. I hope this helps answer your question, please don't hesitate to reply if you would like to know more.
@@Tn_dfndr_guy you're more than welcome! I'd recommend the XB5 850nm IR for long range boost, and the XB5 940nm IR for added stealth. We will have an upgraded version the XC5 coming out soon (as soon as we can get it stocked) but either of those two already available are a pretty great combo illuminator with any night vision device to improve your range. I hope you have fun out there!
Two questions , Can you record on it and upload it to a video on YT to make videos ?? I noticed there is black ends on your screen so does that mean it doesn't shoot in full ??
@@creekrocker nah man that’s a children’s toy lol. Gen 1 is legit about as good as your natural night time eye sight. Real night vision isn’t THAT expensive. Most people could sell a couple of their dozen rifles and pistols to afford real gen 3. Actual vision in the dark. A new comspec tube, even with white phosphor, is only like $2500 new. It’s really not that bad, and it’s worth every cent.
@@revvyishonisd5027 That's more than my car, lol. it's just out of the realm of possibility for loads of people. Any night vision capability is more than 95% of people have anyway.
@@creekrocker gen 1 really isn’t any sort of added capability though. You have to step up to at least decent gen 2 to get some genuine edge over non NV users. And good, it’s stupid to have an expensive car. As long as it works lol
@@revvyishonisd5027 It's definitely an advantage though as long as you have a decent IR emitter. These can see wherever there is infrared light. they wont amplify light but as long as you're the only one with the ability to see IR, then you're at a distinct advantage.
Wise words from The Morning Sage, we hear you! That's why our Nightfox design team are already working on an upgraded version with a head mount, it should be available later next year, 2022. I hope that helps!
@@Klyce We like your enthusiasm! We also do stock a range of head mountable night vision devices as well, as our monocular Cub, if you are specifically interested in a light weight head mounted device, you may be interested in our Nightfox Swift. I hope this helps!
Not at the moment, but we hear you loud and clear, our design team is already working on that for an upgraded version that will come out late 2022. I hope that helps answer your question!
Thanks for the suggestion Myles, we've got a 1x monocular for helmet mounting coming next year - or are you looking for a 1x handheld device? Maybe I can suggest to the dev team!
@@nightfoxnightvision If you were to build two small single monoculars each with their own single screens that could be helmet mounted together with an added IR illuminator basically creating a PVS31 size unit, and you could do it with or even without the recording function and make it “1x” or 1:1, with adjustable focus knobs, you essentially would have a functional helmet mounted set of night vision just like a much more inexpensive set of PVS-31s!! I’m pretty sure every one of us would buy them!! They would definitely have to be 1x 1:1 so that depth perception would be the same as not wearing them so that you can walk and fire a weapon etc! The airport community has PVS31 fake housings. If you could basically build a pair using the technology you already use in your current devices, that would be the ticket!! 👍🏼👍🏼
@@MylesDavid thanks so much for the great suggestion, I have passed it on to our design team. Thank you for taking the time to write out such a detailed set of improvements, it helps us to continue to improve our devices and we really appreciate it!
@@nightfoxnightvision You bet! I would love to talk to you more about it by phone. You guys are Laserware correct? Anyone in particular on your team I should connect with?
@@MylesDavid Hello there, as we're a UK based company and we are being covid safe, we're working from home at the moment, the best way to get in touch with our team is to email the company through our Nightfox site if you wish to speak to us directly. I hope this helps!
I sure did for 80.00 and i would recommend that again when its back in stock but like i said this is going to be a littler nicer but also a little more
@@nightfoxnightvision awesome. after buying something cheaper i really wish i had waited. 2 questions. is the screen's brightness adjustable? and does it record audio?
@@Kanoshe Not to worry the Nightfox Cub will be around for a while, so there's plenty of time to get one if you wish to in the future. Great questions! The screen brightness is adjustable, it has 8 levels of brightness. Although it records video, it doesn't record audio. I hope this helps answer your questions, if you need anything further please do let us know!
