I'm American through and through, and my Cantonese is absolute garbage, but I can cook some great Chinese food. In fact, I cook it every day, because I find Western style food very heavy and a little gross. If you'd like to learn, like I did, I recommend the channels Souped Up Recipes, Elaine Luo, and that good old standby, Chinese Cooking Demystified. All of those channels are by people who speak English, but either are from China or live in China currently. If you're up for something a little more advanced, I can't say enough nice things about See You Every Day_Ajian. He posts one to two videos every day, and he really knows what he's doing. He'll be your Internet Uncle who worked at a fancy hotel restaurant who teaches you his cooking secrets! His English subtitles are reasonably good, which is not always the case with Chinese cooking videos. As an absolute beginner at Chinese, I appreciate it. Check him out and see if you don't learn a lot. I know I did!
