In Italy bruschetta is usually only with tomato and the main reason we have it is to taste the new olive oil. We don’t use onions - you usually rub garlic on the toasted bread before adding the tomato and then add the oil when serving. The reason we don’t add onion is that it tends ti overpower the taste of the oil and tomato. That does not take away from this recipe.

@@fairygodbrotherr I'm suspect of any italian who isn't yelling that bruschetta has nothing to do with what is on top of the toasted bread. The toasted bread is literally what bruschetta is. My source is the amount of actual italians from italy I have already heard raise hell about this.

@@suezannwhite2738 yes Ive got garlic it's from Spain I purchased from whole foods they have some really good groceries. It's tough just finding decent groceries walfart is just a joke if you want to call them groceries thier fruit sucks bought some peaches they were to hard to eat not ripe enough, so waited a couple of days then they were so mushy they were rotten. I also bought a bag of pears they looked great in the store cause I opened the bag and looked the very next day they were rotten bruised way past eating was so pissed. So now I go to whole foods more expensive but worth the money. The oranges taste like oranges not sour tart nice n sweet. I found a few orchards I'm going to check out for fruit if they are better ill start.going there

Technically bruschetta is a type of antipasto that has always a base of toasted pane casereccio, traditionally rubbed with garlic. The classic is topped with fresh tomato, basil, some origano and olive oil. Raw onions are not so common in italian cuisine, they are usually mixed with Tuna. You can make your bruschetta with many types of combinations. My favorite is with some burrata, ruccola and chopped walnuts. But other ideas could be : sausages and stracchino, with peperonata (pickled bell peppers), with tuna and onions, or pesto, or even tomato and mozzarella. The options are endless, and I love this type of pico de gallo bruschetta😊… even though is not a true italian combo, looks GREAT… Avocado could be awesome on it too.
