A $15-$20 tofu press is well worth the investment. Not only does it remove the water but because there is less water in the tofu, it takes less time on the stove or in an air frier for the tofu to develop a crunchy crust. I love my tofu press!
What a terrific grandpa you are! I love that yr little guy loves tofu. So many kids his age would opt for chicken nuggets, and scream if they were asked to eat tofu. He’s gonna be a cool, healthy, open-minded young man. :)
what a great grandpa to make healthy food kids to day would want chicken nuggets the world needs more grandpas like your self you take care and God bless you all.
This was excellent. I didn't have garlic, so added ginger which made for a beautiful peanut sauce in the end. Enough sauce left over for spring roll dip tomorrow. Thank you
I just got an air fryer so was waiting to try this recipe - it is fantastic! I have been trying alot of different recipes on you tube but none are as good as this one! Previously I was making my tofu by baking with just the "breading" but the marinade and crispiness of the air fryer make a huge difference! I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with the public! How lucky you and your grandson are to have each other. My grandkids live out of state so I am missing so much of their growing up.
I wash out my expensive zip lock bags all the time for things like this. I use very hot water for the final rinse, hang them up to dry and reuse the next time. No reasons to throw them away!
I tried this recipe out tonight. My husband LOVED it! I thought it turned out pretty good as well. We ended up adding it to the ginormous salad I had made for us for supper. It's a keeper! Thank you, Chuck!
made this today for brunch, let me just say that this is very tasty and filling and versatile, also included the rice and steamed broccoli...I'll be making this like once a week...thank you for this one.
I think I may have just found a recipe that will help me learn to like tofu. The marinade and spices and dipping sauce sounds and looks great. Thanks for sharing!
You can also marinate in that ziploc bag. I feel like it soaks in somewhat quicker this way, as you can gently move the bag around more than a glass jar. You can also pre-freeze tofu (and then thaw it) to get more of that chewy texture.
Thanks for the recipe. I'll be making it tomorrow. Btw I don't think you should be scratching up your Teflon so much! Better to use uncoated metal saucepan with your metal utensils, or a silicone utensil that won't scratch at the coating
I’ve been eating tofu for years, but never air fried. This is a great method. I had left over white rice and kimchi so made kimchi fried rice to have with it.
Freezing the tofu first helps it absorb the marinade so much better. It absorbs sometimes too well especially if you want to use some of the marinade as part of the sauce. 😊
I love tofu in the air fryer! I am going to try your recipe. I never thought to toss in corn starch. I have the older model of the Cuisinart air fryer. I really like it, but I like yours more! 😉
Thank you Chuck! We recently got an air fryer as a gift and I was looking for new recipes. This looks delicious! Laughed at your 10:58 comment, "Did I mention......." I can't blame you for being excited about your creation. Just a thought...... ask your wife if she would like to be referenced as "my wife vs the wife" I know what my choice would be. :-) Thanks again.
This looks so good. I just got air fryer from my son/daughter in law for Christmas. Can’t wait to try later today. I seem to store everything in canning jars (look in my cabinets and frig). Now I’ll marinate in one also. Thank you muchly.
Yum! Healthy Ingredient Tip: Use Coconut Secret's Coconut Aminos instead of the Tamari (low sodium or regular), and your recipe will be MUCH, MUCH, MUCH LOWER in sodium, and it tastes just as great!
This looks really good, I'll make it with Tempeh when I get sn air fryer. What about the calcium added to tofu? There were news reports about calcium supplements causing strokes, heart attack, dementia plus more. I try buy only foods that don't add any supplements. There is tofu set in magnesium, I don'tsee them often, I'm not sure it's better than ones with added calcium. I sometimes eat tofu at restuarants but at home I cook with Tempeh because Light Life makes it with no added supplements or sodium, light life slso makes the best tasting tofu. I make most things with it that I use to make with tofu. Anyways it's something to consider, concerning calcium supplements, I personally don't think it's better for me to stop taking calcium supplements and then eat foods that manufacturers have added calcium supplements to. I get my calcium from food.
Hi Chuck. I also have an 8 year old grandson who is my taste tester so making this today. In what way can you have this ready fast when he comes to visit? Can you make ahead and just reheat? Thank you for the great videos
I am a brand new vegan, trying to air fry tofu for which I’ve never had nor have ever used an air fryer and I want to know when you said about using PB two or peanut butter was I to marinate that in with the other ingredients of your original marinade or was that for a sauce to dip in?
I have nonidea why companies still ackntofunliek this in europe in a lot of countries you get them in a tiny amount of water you open it and its ready to go
