My Grannie ,my Mama and now I Make Potato patties. 

We were very poor and there were eight mouths to feed. Our neighbor raised potatoes for a living. After he harvested the big ones to sell, us kids took feed bags and dug up the leftovers and baby ones to keep us supplies for the winter. We had potatoes every way you can imagine. I still make many of my old famiiy recipes. Like potato soup on a cold NYS windy day splitting wood it hit the spot...mmmm

You could also add bacon and cheddar cheese and green onions and make like a loaded potato Patty

I always put enough flour in then and make patties. They look better and hold their shape. I always freeze them on a sheet so I can put them in freezer bags. I heat them in the microwave.

My mom always put small diced onions in her patties too. I do add my favorite herbs sometimes. They are soooo good. I eat them as I’m cooking them, so there aren’t always a lot left. Can’t resist. 😊😊😊

Yes omg u have braught back many awesome memories of when I was a child and then when I grew up I cooked them for my 5 girls, there all grown up and families of there on now, me and hubby has 12 grandbabies

I ordered my new cookbook . One for me and another one as a Christmas gift. When it arrives this Fall , I will have all 3 copies of your cookbooks. I ordered them by phone last night and it was easy to order. The lady that I spoke with on the phone was very kind. We had these potato cakes as we grew up back home .We would eat them with Katchup.

Oh sooo good! I always made them for the boys. Our neighbor was a potato farmer and I bought bushels of fresh potatoes and stored them in our dirt floor basement. Nothing like fresh potatoes! I also added garlic powder and chopped onion or chives. I like to eat them with sour cream too. The boys liked that too and ketchup is a given. Thanks for reminding me of the good old days with my three boys.

My Momma cooked them for our family of five . My daddy was a bread and potato lover. Because of Him, we had some sort of bread and potatoes every night. He didn't like any Italian for so I was 16 before I had any Italian dish or pizza. Boy he didn't know what he was missing. But back to the potatoes, momma made them and we all loved them....❤️

Breada my mom is 90 yrs young and she cooked them Serve hers with caned plums and juice, or sour cream like her German moma did. I have also added applesauce to mine. Yes I've made them a lot. So good.

Yes my Mother made potato cakes & I make them too. I cook for my son & his two boys & they love them too. I put onions & salt & pepper, egg, & a little flour. I’m gonna put some seasonings & cheese you did. I lost my husband over 15 years ago & my son & boys live with me so I can stay in my home. Love having them here. I do the cooking & they help.

Yes, my mom and grandma both made them. There were 6 kids and we were always hungry; sometimes there weren’t any taters left and sometimes mum cooked mashed taters just to make cakes. I can’t remember what all she put in them besides flour and eggs but we loved them. Never a scrap of food was wasted. I love tater cakes but haven’t made them for a while, guess we’re gonna have something with mashed potatoes tonight so I can have some for breakfast.

My daddy taught me how to make potato patties when I was 7 yrs old and I still make them every now and again. in the north creamed potatoes are cut up boiled potatoes in a white sauce. We call mash potatoes or whipped potatoes what you call cream potatoes. It's interesting to see the different way things are called in different regions.

I've cooked potato cakes a couple of different ways throughout the years. I love mashed potatoes so much that they never make it into potato patties plus I have never added an egg into mashed potatoes when making mine. Only flour. The way I grew up eating them in Southern Ohio they made them with raw shredded uncooked potatoes with an egg mixed in along with flour, salt and pepper fried in oil and paired up with fried salmon patties made from canned Salmon or canned Mackerel made with egg, onion, and flour mixed in them and fried in a skillet. I still make them to this day. It's comfort food from the Appalachian region of the United States. 😋

I grew up eating Polish potato patties. Left over cream potatoes, 1 egg, leftover saurkraut, left over Corned beef shredded into it with pepper and onion powder and a tiny pinch of cayanne pepper. 2 TB flour... Fry in butter and olive oil til browned on both sides...❤ My Gramma made them for me and I make them for my 6 children and my children make them for their children!!! ❤❤❤

My Sicilian great aunt would make these on Fridays during Lent. She lived in Abita Springs, Louisiana with my grandmother. My aunt’s potato patties had finely chopped parsley, a can of cod fish flakes and then they were fried in olive oil. We would stand by the stovetop waiting for them to be finished. I wish I had been a little older and had measured out the ingredients, but it it difficult to find codfish flakes in a can anymore. So it wouldn’t be the same without them.
