MY GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER 102 YEARS OLD 

AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, descendants of two old Austin-area families gathered for a family reunion.
A branch of the Hurd/Mercer family spent years trying to keep an old cemetery from being swallowed up by a high dollar neighborhood on the boundary of Rollingwood and West Lake Hills, just west of Austin.
It is a tradition that goes back generations that family members and ancestors gather for dinner on the cemetery grounds to remember and celebrate.
Among those were some hardy souls who spent years blazing a trail to history, not only of their own ancestors, but of Central Texas also.
"I didn't really get to know my grandfather and my grandmother when I was growing up, so getting that history from other members of my family is very important to me," said family member Ora Beatrice. "It gives me a chance to know where I came from, my descendants."
