My Greatest Reenacting Experiences: Hiding from the German Patrols

A quick video, this time about the time three Red Army soldiers- armed only with their entrenching tools- lay silently in a frozen and shallow grave, hearing their own deaths approach slowly through the surrounding forest. They would soon be discovered and left to the torment of the fascist captures, but not before one brave sergeant took desperate action!

Imagine being the Germans, just walking on by, not seeing much in the dark, and then you're suddenly tackled by a Russian Sergeant with an E-tool.

I called him(the sergeant)an idiot when my patrol returned. The three of them, Brandon included were digging in a root infested hole which I dunno how you forget that, the holes had old roots poking out, but yeah if they stayed low and let them walk by the rest of the Soviet infantry was trailing these Germans.

Please! Continue this series! It is utterly baffling how enjoyable it is. Not many people make videos about their reenacting experiences, and it's quite enjoyable for those who can't reenact currently

The greatest moments at reenactments are when you forget that everyone is trying to safe. I remember marching into a cornfield at an Antietam reenactment (American Civil War), where it was early morning, the sun peaking just above the trees. Gun smoke and mist clung to the ground, and two men emerge, before "collapsing" and begging for his mother. Then we heard "forward march!" and right past them we went. The nervous tension was palpable.

Friendly reminder that holding your gun down like at 6:25 was not how it was done in WW2. This method of "at the ready" was introduced after the war when assault rifles that are shorter than WW2 rifles are introduced.

I thought, maybe I'll try getting into reenactment, then i thought, what is the cheapest era? Oh yeah the world wars. I looked up ww1 reenactment groups, visited some websites, then on one of them, it said you have to be 18 to join(im 14) I thought, UNREALISTIC, WHERE ARE MY CHILD SOLDIERS. Anyways anyone have some advice on groups I can join to try out reenactment?
@BrandonF
@BrandonF 5 лет назад
The best thing is always to attend local events and speak with people. As a younger person, if you want to get involved, you may find 18th century is actually the more acommodating. A lot of groups also have lender equipment to help you get started out. Again the best thing would be to speak with local groups directly.
