I bring my guinea pigs out everyday for their dinner and put them on a sofa with a mat covered up to keep the sofa clean from their poop and wee. they are always excited to be pick up.
My girls aren't crazy about leaving home, but relax after a moment or two of being held before floor time, or hallway exercise, or even getting cleaned up and their nails trimmed. They don't argue when it's time to go home, either, they're very eager for that pick up. Talking to them seems to help. My girls understand association for a handful of words and I've learned to read their reactions.
Aw the second guy. He's like "I went to the designated Pickup zone but mumther no pickup" then you see a slight squee in excitement when she comes back 🤣😭
I found out recently that you should scoop them up from under them, & never hold them with your hand facing up while they dangle. That's the way a predator would grab them, & they freeze in fear & have lil hammy-heartattacks when lifted that way. So scoop them up always.
...but both ways you described are the exact same way...? scooping them up with your hand upwards & picking them up with your hand upwards are the exact same lol
THAT CONFUSED FACE! One of my pigs is the exact opposite - she complains and clutches my shirt when I put her back in her cage. If she could be held forever, she would. Edit: where did this religious argument come from 0_0
Oh, my sweet boy loved to be held also, so much so when he was put down for his free roaming time he’d be upset and would stay in place until we scooped him back up🤭😬, but when he it was time for bed and he saw that cage he would leap out of my arms into it like there was no tomorrow. He loved being in his own space away from us, but he also loved us. I miss him soooooo much!!!
@@dootdoot94xo44 What gives you the authority to make promises on Jesus' behalf? I don't remember the Bible saying guinea pigs go to heaven. You'll answer in hell for lying and speaking on behalf of Jesus Christ - and lying in RU-vid comments instead of doing some real work to help the poor. Maybe repent before you die and lose the chance.
I LOVE the way you treat ur piggies!!! ❤🥰❤ You are a wonderful, wonderful piggy parent!! Your pigs are incredibly precious, & those faces...omg! Such darling babies! Thank you for loving & respecting a set of God's sweet souls ❤❤❤👍🐾
I trained mine to climb on my hands, so I can put them back in. Now they try to force me putting them back in by climbing onto them and looking towards their enclosure. If I don't react, they start stomping their hind legs and complain noisily 😂
@@boom55527 they prefer staying in their enclosure, so whenever I took them out, I held both hands in front of them. As soon as they put both forelegs onto one hand, I gently placed the other underneath their behind, told them "good job" and carried them back immediately. It didn't take too long for them to connect the hands with being put back into their home and they started hopping on both of them on their own. 😅
Reminds me of whenever I used to pick up my teddybear hamster. I would just put my hand in his cage and he would immediately climb into my hand to be picked up. 😁
When I had my teddy bear hamster, Todd, he would be sitting by the gate waiting for me to open it so he could just walk out. He was the friendliest hamster
Hamsters are so cute they should be illegal. From what authority do they think they have the right?! They can be kinda dumb, but OMG... they're ridiculously cute. I can't handle it. 😩 I'm gonna go watch an hour of hamster RU-vid, now. Thanks a lot. 👍🏻👎🏻
My guinea stays still whenever I leave him. He dials statue mode up to an eleven. As proof of this I made a time lapse for one hour. Didn’t move a muscle while I was doing math
That confused face 😂 Our guinea pigs are not a fan of being picked up but they love cuddles 🧡 But we still hope one day they can be this relax and even wait for pick up 🥺🧡
They remind me of one of my late pigs, Pumpkin. You could pick Pumpkin up and snuggle anytime with him. He’s sorely missed! I’ve loved my others as well but none could be picked up and held as easily as Pumpkin could.
awww, how adorable they are! mine are similar when being picked up, they know their routine and we guide them off the sofa with our hands, which also really helps with confidence training! they know their night time routine and don't budge when being picked up in the evening, but will have a little shriek of contempt if I pick them up in the morning or afternoon 😅
My ferrets are the same way! When I go to carry them both at once, I have to pick up male with both hands because he's just so chonky then I can cradle him in my arm. But my female always has to wait because her I can pick up with one hand. She also wiggles more though so I try to hold her the least amount of time
You are so nice and careful with them. It's adorable how he waited in the same spot his buddy was picking up. He knows where to go. ❤️ The guinea pig bus stops here. 🤗 👍
Thank you for posting this. I showed it to my kids to show them how to pick up our pig and now he doesn't run for his life when one of them puts a hand in his home. Very helpful 😊
