WOW!! I am so glad you gave the tip about non-watery and watery veggies!! I was about to mess up considerably!. BUT what happens when a guinea's tummy gets upset... Are the poo-pellets more loose, different in shape, color...???
If their poo is looking weird get them to the vet! This is prolly late, (no it is-) but if their poop is looking off it could mean theirs something wrong with their digestive system
when i first got my piggies, the petsmart lady was so sweet and informative! she got a big cage with a play pen attached to it and it came with a hay rack and waterbottle. my guineas love their play pen so much, and it is always attached to their cage! :3
Lol! I am going to get guinea pigs for my science experiment! (Totally humane for school just testing food water and stuff like that) 4 of the guinea pigs will come from 2 separate rescues/ homes. The other 4 Guiana pigs will come from 2 pet stores, Petsmart and petco for my experiment. (I wouldn’t buy them from a pet store otherwise but i must do it for my experiment) So I know that the ones I get from the homes/rescues would probably be friendly but what would happen to the guinea pigs from the pet store? From what I’ve seen they totally hate humans!
I have a question bc I'm getting one soon , so on like the first 2nd day you can't try and pet them a little to comfort them . or to make them settled ?
I did a bunch of research to figure out what fluffy friend would be right for me and landed on guinea pigs. Now I am looking at as many sources as possible to make sure I am as prepared as possible before adopting my first guinea pigs. The more I learn the more excited I get. My goal is to adopt guinea pigs by the end of 2022 wish my luck :D
What I did when I got my gueina pigs this is what I got Cage. Hay. Food. A little house. Water bottle A box next to their cage full of their supplies Brush (It is VERY small and I have a cleaning spray, I spray a tiny bit and brush them both softly) Do NOT pick up you gueina pig immediately after getting them,it makes them more uncomfortable and scared. Clean cage at least 3-5 times a day guiena pigs have a faster digestive system then other animals so they digest food faster if not cleaned they will stink! Once in a while treat them with a snack (Carrots,Peppers,or some veggies) Dont give them veggies that have a little bit of sweet in it all the time give it to them once in a while! Hopefully this helped 🙂
When I got my guinea pigs they were in a pet store cage the cage was so tiny they had to share a hidey but the second we got them in the cage we ordered a play pen and they lived in the play pen for the next few weeks then we turned a chicken coop into a cage but they wouldn't climb the ramp cuz It didn't have fleece on it so we screwed the play pen onto a table and put down pads and then we put down rugs then we bought c and c grids so now they have a 2 story loft in their cage and this is were we figured out that they wouldn't go up the ramps in the chicken coop cuz It didn't have fleace so we added fleace to the ramp on their loft so now they climb on to the ramp so that's the story of my guinea pigs cage btw this all happened in the time span of 2 months yes they trust me very well now
My piggie lets me pet him when we do lap time because he is rested but he runs away when I pet him inside the cage because he s active and he wants to do other things but their both babies coco and millo. Millo it's mine coco is my sis one
I first got my piggy yesterday bruh my piggy his name is Togo 😂 from that movie Togo it’s really sad move it made me cry and I’m a boy I’m mf 15 🤣 he is the best piggy this is my first one
Just got mine today, and my sisters got on too. All males, we tripled check. My sisters are young so it’s really hard to explain to them they need some time to settle in
I got mine 2 days ago... I only got her out to clean her cage and to check if her hair has knotts and stuff by recommendation of the caretaker. So ¿Do I still have a chance of her trusting me when I have to pet her or just pick her up?
Thank you so much!! This was very helpful! About when do you think I can pick them up/pet them? I've had mine for about a week now. They're still scared of me, but I took your advice to put veggies when everyone goes to sleep, and the veggies are all gone when I wake up!
So if you know nothing about there diet should I just feed them pellets and a little carrot until they get used to the other foods because so far my guinea pigs only eat carrots and I can’t give them carrots everyday because it will be to much sugar so I’m not sure what to do
We had 2 guinea pigs that are related (father and son) and somehow the son got an eye infection so my mom cleaned it and then the next day he died... his name was peanut and his father is still alive his name is pebble my mom has no idea what to do bc she says you need to get the right guinea pig for pebble cuz if it doesn't work out you can't just seperate them bc there is no more room for another cage and pebble squeeks when you pet his butt/back so i guess he doesn't like that also my mom once put a collar on pebble (Yeah i'm also surprised why they sell those for guinea pigs) and wanted to walk with him outside but we totally forgot he might think predators are outside so he literally broke out of it and hid in the bushes (We are never gonna do that again my mom had to grab him firmly otherwise we might've lost him i don't think she hurt him though) its really sad because pebble looks like hes doing better without his son but i still want him to have a friend but idk how to find the right one ; - ;
When I brought my little baby home years ago, she was already super friendly and snuggly, so I stayed in the room with her. After a week, we were bonded. I lost her Saturday (five days ago) after 8.5 years, and I’m really hurting right now. I really miss her, and it’s weird to sit in my room without her. We had a routine of checking on each other every morning, through the day, and night. She even had a way of chittering her teeth to get my attention. So even though it’s an old video, it’s helping with missing her.
Should I get more than one Guinea pig or is it highly recommended for 2/3? I dont think my dad will let me get two so if it's better with two I need to convince him
When I got my Guinea pigs Bailey and whisky we tried to put them in there cache but it didn't go well they were running around there box they came in!x
I’m getting one next month, after I met my aunts guinea pigs I wanted to one so bad. I’m so excited, this is really helpful thanks for making this. Edit: I’m getting 2 lol
Oreo & Brownies diet (my gini pigs) breakfast 7:15 .carrots (peeled, washed and sliced .carrot tops only a little bit scattered over the carrots!❤ dinner around 4:00 (since I'm in primary school) .gem lettuce leaves .bit of spinach .bell pepper bits sliced (tiny) snack time!(random time usually around 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.) .lettuce (gem or other yummies) .broccoli little bit (don't like to give them too much .cartots .spinach play time (30 to 40 mins) dinner (last meal 9:00 sharp .broccoli .bell pepper .sweet paprika done my healthy diet comment if I'm doing something wrong.. baiiii
Don't you give them hay or pellets? Guinea pigs are supposed to have at least 80% of their diet hay. Not giving them hay is dangerous, they'll get sick. ALso, don't give them to many carrots, it's not good for them.
I just got my guinea pig! I took it to my friends house and stressed it out. I’m very worried . Is it bad? We were moving them around the whole neighborhood. I think it’s ok. Please let me know
That sounds like it was a bad idea. You’re supposed to leave them be in their cage for a few days. Not make them travel multiple times. Terrible idea. I hope they eventually were able to settle in.
I know this an old video but I've had my piggies for two days and I can't get within 3 ft of the cage without them hiding, their favorite hidey has fleece bedding that I should replace/clean soon but I'm not sure how to do it. I also can't reach that area easily due to the second level being over it. Please help!
it was hard with my mum as she never liked animals at home. probably because she never had any when she was young. even now she doesn't touch the piggy but she would feed him & talk to him. first of all, convince them that you'll take responsibility for the little fluff - cleaning after it, giving it food, etc. actually, my mum let me have a piggy when i was going through a hard time mentally so she thought it would be a way to take care of a living creature & put my mind off things. not gonna lie, the piggy will pee & poop when you let it outside for a while (my mum was really worried) but then most of them learn to hold it for a while. you can tell them that yet it's in a cage so it won't be with like a little puppy who literally will make a mess all over the place. they are very friendly animals too and aren't very hard to take care of once you get used to it. they also aren't super expensive to look after. they do eat all the time but they're small. the costs are less than for a cat or a dog. they eat veggies & some fruit so when you buy some for you to eat, you can give some to the piggy. hay isn't that expensive too & guinea pig food too.
Such a great resource for new Guinea Pig owners. I'd love to know what those little treats you are giving them. The little tiny ones shaped like a cupped little flower! What are they made of? (in case they don't sell them here in Canada) Thanks so much for sharing these videos, my ten year old in so in love with having a couple of little piggies, and we are learning all we can before getting a couple.
So I just got home, and I went to say hello to my guinea pigs Mango and Coconut. Mango was acting hyper as always, but Coconut was sitting in his hut, just staring at me. He looked uncomfortable, and when I got in closer I realized his left eye was crusty and had goop all around it. I looked it up, just to make sure everything was okay, and found he had some symptoms of a cold. First of all, his eye was crusty and goopy, and second of all, he was sneezing a lot the other day. If you have some tips, please comment me back.
Yes! Turns out he was just sleepy and was going to clean himself. I looked into it more as it kept happening. The “symptoms” were him just being stubborn really.
Hello little adventures I'm a big fan! But I'm asking a serious question and will get answers from anyone and need it as soon as possible. So I just recently bought 2 baby Guinea pigs when I was planning on buying older ones but I love them so much and I really connected with them so I got them. Anyways I got everything before hand so since I was planning to get adults I got adult Guinea pig food pellets and thought that I would just have this for the future and buy Guinea pig food for young ones but all of the stores are out of stock for them rn and wondering if I should wait to feed them pellets or feed them very little of the adult Guinea pig food. The store should have them in a couple of weeks. Thanks.
hello! This is a great video! Wow it is a big cage! Do you have to have that big of a cage i dont have that much room for such a cage. so what do you suggest?
“They still like you and accept them as *their human*” 😂😂😂 Welp, I guess my New Guinea already thinks I’m it’s human! But my guinea pig doesn’t like it when I pet her. I’m new and just got her today so... AHHH I’m worried. My dad put them outside. Is that okay for guineas?
I’ve had my piggie since October 15th of this year! He’s still very afraid of us…I’ve made plenty mistakes by trying to get him to like me and understand this isn’t a scary place 😭😭 i hope he likes me one day
I had a piggie ones I named him hami as I thought it was hamster in the start😂 I know I am weird He died last year on 27 Nov. He was attacked by a stray cat I promise there was any cat in my colony but still Now I am getting a new one and this time I got 4 times bigger cage I will get it on 1 Jan. As a new year nad Christmas gift I won't even try to get it on 2020 for obvious reasons But I am super excited for my new baby U am gonna name him sugar this time❤️❤️
Hi we’re looking to get some Guinea pigs, we have a large pet house, so could accommodate lots, but what would be best 2,3,4? Also do we get them from the same parents? Any gender tips? Thanks
Then I've trained my Guinea pigs wrong since I kept picking them up and cuddling them to get them use to my sent, it's worked for me since my oldest valentine only took 3 days while Dawin took 2 and my new ones took 1..except pumpkin..he lays down on me but keeps biting me
Does anyone have unwanted toys, water bottles or even a cage I could have/ buy or anything a Guinea pig would need sorry if I sound like I'm begging I just need more supplies for my piggies! 🙂
Hi there, I am looking into purchasing guinea pigs. I have been watching and listening to your videos and you have said that they need company from other guinea's. Can I keep two males together? Or two females? I don't have a great deal of space, so I'm asking for your advise.
I have two younger brothers who won't leave our new piggies alone. Could you do a video on what you should do about obsessed brothers?😂☹ But seriously. I need advice from other people. If you have any tips for obsessed 7 and 8 year old brothers that don't know half the stuff I did at their age plz reply.
Is there such thing as a pellet dispenser? Because I’m afraid my pig will poop inside his food bowl, I know there is a water bottle which is good. Do they poop in their hay, grass, or food?
so I have two dogs, and one of them barks very loudly.. My room that I want to put my piggies in is right next to where my dog sleeps! Also I like to sleep with my dog as well and i’m scared the pigs are going to get scared and... Die from stress :(
I love your channel I love what you do it's amazing keep it up my mom said I could get a guinea pig for Christmas and I hope I can have some tips from you and I love what you're doing with your guinea pigs it's like your guinea pig lover it's so amazing I love you keep up the good work I'm using my mom's phone by the way so it doesn't really matter right doesn't really matter you won't find out I think but I really liked your guess everything keep it up bye
Thanks for this video! Even as an experienced owner, I needed some info to brush up on how to acclimate a new piggy since I'm planning to bring one home from the shelter tomorrow. :) It's been a while since having a new addition!
Am i the only one that goes to petco (because I'm getting piggies in a few months) and hold literally EVERY little guinea pig?I held a long haired one today actually and i git to name him oreo because he was black and white and looked like an oreo ^w^
I bought two guinea pigs once a male and the other one I don't know their names are fuzzy ball and Buckyballs they run around the key to all the time I got the biggest one 47 by 24 by 14 and I have another one the same size common we're going to put them together so it'll be a even bigger cage form and then they're doing really good I'm hoping I have two males and not the other way around but if so they'll have plenty of running space
Can guinea pigs be kept in a bedroom with ventilation in a medium sized cage ? I’m scared they might stink up my room or they won’t have enough space :(
Hey guys I am 11 years old and I want to buy guinea pigs but no one in my family knowes how to take care of them. I have watched many videos and take information. Any other tips?
I got my guinea pigs yesterday and yes they are very scared poor babies. They are about 3 to 4 months old and both little girls. One of them is so bossy though she doesnt like sharing her hidey with her lil sister ha ha...she is feisty and more scared. Her sister is Lilly and Lilly is a lil more friendlier but still very scared the other one just wants to hide from us. But today I did hold both of them and they were not that happy that i grabbed them but were good on my lap. They do take food from my hand though...yea its a process i hope they stop being so scared and jumpy all the time lol
One thing to know is that guinea pigs are very, very attached to their poo. One of my fondest and most endearing GP memories is after bagging their poo, one of the pigs bit into the plastic bag with the most defiant look and really tried hard to keep me from taking their poos away. Buinea Pigs love the scent of their poo. It's a back to nature thing and if they have their poos for awhile they will really hate to part with them.
i’m really excited because i may get a guinea pig this year! i’m planning on getting it at my local petco because my local petsmart (which is closer) never has many piggies, maybe 3 at the most.
So I got a guinea pig recently and the people that had him before never fed him hay. Can I just give him some or should I not feed him hay? He's a year and half old
This was a huge help thank you I just got my new guinea pigs 2 days ago and they are very cautious over alot of things incuding me. But both of them ate out of my hand for the first time today and it was adorable!
My piggy refuses to eat veggies. She’s probably not used to eating them since she wasn’t fed veggies before I got her. How do I get her to start eating them?
I’m getting one tomorrow or the day after tomorrow and the person who works there is gonna give us a discount for the guinea pigs and the cage :> long storyyy-
Sorry I'm confused I picked up my guinea pig today and today is the second day of buying guinea pig. Now he is scared I just picked up him because I wanted to put him back to his cage And he is sad What should I do? Please help 😭
NikiEm StyLes Don’t worry, it takes a long time to tame them. They won’t be very lovey dovey in the beginning. My one piggie Penny took 4 months to tame, my other Roxy took a year and 3 months, my other Gabby never really has gotten used to me and I have had her for 3 years, and last but not least Spot got used to me right off the get go! I hope this helped 😊
NikiEm StyLes late comment, but they do not get used to you right away. It may take a while. Your piggy is most likely sad because they want a friend :)
