I have the red Dean V that looks like the one Randy Rhoads played in around 1981 , when Sharon took his dot V so he couldn't have it for the Quiet Riot reunion! And that is that!
@@aarongrimes6490 because Randy was in Ozzy's band and she didn't want Randy playing in other bands, especially his old one I guess? So she figured taking his V would make it .........? I really don't know. Because he still had his Les Paul Randy under contract, and he played 2 sold-out shows without telling Sharon or Ozzy, that is about it! Anyway, someone, rumor was that Dean made sure that Randy had that guitar to play at the last show, so the pictures you see on the internet are from that show. Just something I thought I would throw in there since he was working with Dean V.! I knew Randy, but I never asked him about the guitar, but he did say he should have said something to someone before doing the shows. Taking one of his guitars was just a way of letting him know he isn't free to do shows with other bands when playing with Ozzy!
Yep !! We want more "My Guitars" section !! (... despite being a long time follower of the channel, I know a lot of yours, but I'm sure you have lots others cool ones we want to see !!)
I have a Korean made one that I changed the bridge pickup to a boutique inspired by Bill Lawrence l500, really well crafted instrument and very inexpensive!
I have the 7 string version of this guitar. I have wanted a V Select from Dean since I saw one in Macaris guitar shop in London back in the 1990s. I bought the 7 string one on pre order and Dean took another 11 months to deliver it. you simply cannot fault the necks on Dean guitars. I think that's one of the reasons Dimebag was such a fan of the ML.
I have this guitar and love it. Switched all the hardware out for gold and put locking gold grovers on it. Took the duncan's out and put burstbuckers in it, a graphite nut, and a string butler. Guitar freaking rocks.
Man I been eyeballing that guitar since I found your channel, that guitar is killer man, that and the stealth I been just eyeballin man lol...just badass guitars bro...
I have the Eric Peterson Old Skull V and it is a killer guitar. Similar to this one but with a black back, gloss neck, and EMG pickups. And the old skull graphic too of course.
Ola Englund is like Bruce Wayne in the 1989 Batman when Vicky Vale is eating dinner with him in a large room and she asks him "Do you like this room?" and he looks around a sec and says "I don't think I have ever ate in this room before..."
Hey, Ola, DR Strings pack their strings in such a way because they intend for you to switch the strings, in that order, to avoid uneven tension on the neck. It's supposed to prevent warping or something like that. It's an old-time thing, that probably originates from when guitars didn't have truss rods or something. Also, I've heard if you replace the strings in that order, it won't affect the balance of a floyd rose tremolo. That doesn't matter, if you've got a decent block for the tremolo cavity.
Dude, Elliott made us in the D.O.A. so many cool limited custom import runs. And we ran rampant in the custom shop! My USA dean customs are crazy unique.
@@rottingcorpse6002 I only visited HQ once to pick up a guitar or two, but met w/ ER despite him being busy. Was a real cool guy. I don't really regret selling guitars except my DOA silverburst Caddy and Euro Edge 5-string. You have video of your customs?
If there's plastic to peel, you can damn well bet I'm going to peel it! It's why I still enjoy pickguard making part of building guitars, regardless of the static charged router shavings that go everywhere, and cling to everything, haha.
Awesome guitar, ola 😎🤘🏻🎸 I’ve always liked dean guitars and basses. This dean guitar looks radical. I personally like the z guitars(especially since I’m a big fan of explorer styled guitars). And it’s funny that you call d.r strings doctor strings 😂 I’ve been saying that too. Especially since a former band mate of mine has been saying doctor strings when I was in his band years ago. Anywho this is an awesome video and the guitar sounds phenomenal 😎🎸
I had a Dean Cadillac Select in the 2000s. A few years later I got a VMNT. Sadly, they're gone now. I've got a Duncan Thrash Factor laying around. It'd be cool to get one of these guitars and put the Thrash Factor in it.
Haha, a friend of mine went into a local shop and asked for Doctor Handmade strings. «Eh, do you mean DR strings?». Since then it’s always been Doctor Handmade to me.
The Dean mid grade V models were fantastic. I have the white Martucci signature V, and it is better than both the Gibson Vs I have owned. Slightly narrower neck than a regular V, so that took a little getting used to.
I have one of these! Really fun guitars, I'd say they're comparable to Jackson's Pro Series in terms of build, quality and price. I've modded mine with Dimarzio clones by Jaden Rose and a Gotoh bridge
Oh hey I’ve got the Brazilla Burst ML with a Floyd from that series! The frets needed some serious work, but otherwise the guitar is one of my favorite feeling & sounding guitars
Wait, wait, you're actually gonna tease us with the gibson story and not give us the ending !? I mean I see you're still making the Type G, so I know what the ending is. But please spill the whole tea !
Re: ear training - I find that my perception of pitch changes depending on a few factors. For example, I might hear things about 20 cents sharper at the end of a long day or when not well rested, and if I remember correctly, about 10 cents flatter when recovering from a night of heavy drinking - for my standards, that is 😅... So, I always need some sort of reference when tuning an instrument, otherwise I might tune lower or higher than intended.
Elixir makes the best coated strings. They are smooth and the higher strings are plain steel which don’t rust if you keep them wiped down after playing
HEY DEAN GUITARS ! SINCE MY DEAN THIN BODY RESONATOR GOT STOLEN I HAVEN'T FOUND A RESONATOR OF THAT QUALITY AT THAT PRICE. Make a small series, thin body, ALL CHROME (gold painted hardware is sh*t), pearloid covered headstock, 1 cutaway, Strap Button ABOVE the neck joint like on a Gretsch 6120 (and not on the neck joint, painful when you use straplocks)!!! Thank you so much in advance!
Ola pls help. I’m 14 and I don’t know where to buy a Dean from hell even tho I want one rlly bad. Where do u think I should look for getting one?? Thank you!!!
@Steezus_Chrlst just Google it. If one is for sale somewhere it will pop up. When I was looking for a specific guitar or pedal I'd do that every week or so. It took a year on one but I've finally found everything I was looking for.
Ola - is there any chance you swapped that bridge pickup? The Select Series typically came with dual zebra black/white humbuckers with a special matte bobbin. I use a Dean ML Select in several of my videos and absolutely love it!
