You have completely convinced me that I need to give this series a second chance. I liked book 1 fine, but I think I just wasn't ready for the journey I was about to embark upon lol. Excellent vid ! The audio for the second is alright although its a full cast recording so lots of different voice actors so far. I am really enjoying it and excited to see where this one and book 3 goes.

I am so happy to see this video from you :D I read all of the books exactly when they came out, I remember reading My Heart Is A Chainsaw and being OBSESSED with Jade and feeling like I want to protect her from everything bad that might ever happen to her. I even managed to get one of those Jade Daniels is my Final Girl tshirts even if they weren't delivering to Europe lol. Can't wait to do a re-read back to back. I also quite liked that all three books have a bit of difference in structure / approach / narrative voice

I really enjoy slasher films but I tend to shy away from horror books...but you have me very tempted to give this series a go. Maybe this Halloween season....

I'm so excited for the 3rd book. Just have to wait for my hold on the audiobook to come in. I am just surprised at how much I cared about the characters by book 2. It snuck up on me.

Thank you for saying it's a bit speculative! I have no problem with speculative elements in horror, but I hate when I'm waiting for a real world explanations and it's fantastical🙄🙄. So I'll manage my expectations better now.

I’ve been really enjoying this series as well! I also really enjoyed The Shining by Stephen King and its sequel Doctor Sleep for its character work!

I love your enthusiasm. I plan to reas "Mapping the Interior" by this author. My biggest challenges are the American pop culture references. They are like a different language to me. I remember reading some slightly older Stephen King and being shoked about how much the techology was availlable in the early 80's in USA.

I hate slasher films. The only one I’ve watched entirely was Halloween. I very seldom read horror, but once I read TheOnly Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones I realised his books were so much more. Strange to say, but there is so much spirituality in them. I didn’t like the slasher sections, but I was completely seduced by Jade’s story of her psychological and spiritual journey to who she is supposed to be and to accept it.
