I can't get enough of new fans reacting to the LA. Ever since the early 2010s, I'd written off the manga/anime as an unapproachable behemoth that nobody who hasn't been following weekly since the 90s could ever get into (without a whole bunch of free time). It's so surreal to watch younger generations fall in love with the story and characters we did 25+ years ago.

"Oh my gosh, there's so many big things coming!" My friend, you have no idea... And we all want the next season just as soon as possible! So glad to see you enjoyed this series so much, Liala. If they continue to do justice to the story, you can expect to laugh, cheer and cry again.

This live action is a great introduction to One Piece.

He doesn't deny or tone down any of it. When the rest of the crew found out Sanji commented on that probably being the reason why Luffy was so resilient and why everything just washes off him. I guess Garp's mentality was 'the world is not going to be easy on you, but the sooner you learn to handle anything it can throw at you the better chance you have of surviving'.

What a great reaction to this series! Watching people's first reactions to One Piece is always amazing. They never expect to fall in love with the characters, the story, or the world. As the story progresses, I recommend keeping a box or tissues beside your work station.... you'll need them! Also, if you're looking for more in-depth character development, you can always try the anime, up to episode 45 (the end of the Arlong Park arc). The anime is a bit different, story wise, but it will make you love the characters even more!

Season One: I can honestly say that I'm pretty satisfied with the results. I was a little concerned when I learned that my all time favorite anime was going to get a live action series - even after I learned that Eiichiro Oda was working with the people working on this project, I was still skeptical. But after watching it, I can definitely see the faithfulness to Oda's source materiel while also being a bit more ground; and trying out something a little different. I was pretty happy with the casting choice, as most of the actors did a fantastic job at portraying their respected characters - my favorite being the portrayal of Dracule Mihawk; despite his limited appearances in the anime and manga, he has always been one of my favorite characters (and I was more than happy to see him getting more screen time on this series). And while I did like Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, his portrayal at times came off as weak - I get that he was trying to capture the stern and seriousness of Zoro, but he doesn't really have the voice for it just yet, which is why I think he could have used just a bit more energy. And while Iñaki Godoy's acting also came off as weak at times, his personality usually made up for it. I get that there is only so much you can do with real people, and you have so much more room with animation, which is why plenty of stuff was cut out in the first season. But I really wish it had at least ten episodes, if it would have helped for us to see more of the characters we enjoyed and it could have helped build up more of the story - such as Don Krieg, Pearl, Genzo, Nojiko, Cabaji, Merry, Gin, Patty, Mohji, Mayor Boodle, even Arlong's sawblade, or a bit more on the relationships between the crew and their past; as well as the people in their lives. And while there were times when the choreography was obvious, most of the times it was done very well. And I don't object for diversity, just as long as it makes sense. I really do hope that Netflix keeps these people on their payroll, so they can continue bringing this amazing world to life.

Indeed, the word used in the original source for ‘friend’ is NAKAMA, which is a friend so close you consider family.

I prefer Arlong Park fight in the Anime. Because Usopp has a character development before he decides being brave instead of lie. And of cours the whole foreshadowing of the wind wheel and Nojikos Tatoo reveal. Its heartwarming.

And so the journey of season one has come to an end. Luffy defeated Arlong and earned his rep as a pirate his grandpa finally backs off trying to conform him into a Marine and accepts Luffy is and will be a pirate. And now the straw hat crew finally is recognized by both their friends and even their enemies. Luffy’s accomplishments reach even Shanks and Mihawk and even they are impressed. So the sail to the grand line begins with new adventures and dangers in store.

My fav ep are 2 and 5.

How about a review of some of the animated films? Film Z is the one I’d recommend for those that haven’t seen the anime. Emotional and action packed

episodes 3 and 4 were messed up. they could have done syrup village in one episode and finish the first season after logue town like it should be But I think they just didn`t want to spend to much money and introduce the first logia user at the first season before they know if it will be a success. Now they have to do a lot of cgi for the second season with all the upcoming logias, little garden, Chopper, ah and of course Laboom 😁

What I like a bout the LA, is that it really captures the essence, there are many many ( not handful) of moments that make you have feels one moment to the next. Really encourage you to read or watch One Piece.
