It’s is confusing to say that basically contact with the customers or their executives would have been awkward. Investment advisors have to take exams and be registered so being an intern helps you discover if you want to pursue becoming a broker or advisor. Just wanted to add that there are major penalties the company would be responsible for if someone manages or advises others to make moves against their best interest. That is how I understand it when you say “it would be awkward” to engage in conversations or bump into customers. Your video is great!! I’m a tax preparer and I work with really great advisors that I simply refer them to be invited to a less awkward conversation with a private manager. 😊 I feel awkward most days. Lots of magic happens when you build relationships with future ceos. Whatever you work in, know that relationships are important. Be yourself and always find someone to partner with who can help them when you lack the knowledge or certifications today. You decide if you will change positions and follow your referrals. That is another way to get into the financial industry. Start somewhere.

A long equity approach does not mean that they invest for the longterm it means that they do not short stocks

What’s the name of the HF ??

The majority of hedge funds today is lack luster. Most are generating poor to negative returns while collecting fat fees annually. They are not seeking alpha but seeking pitch meetings to get a whale to invest. Nothing of value to be obtained working in these funds. Unless the skill is to manipulate people. Firms that are actually focused on real growth are prop shops. These guys trade their own money so it's sink or swim. If you're planning on gathering real skills then go intern in one of those places.
