My Hero Academia 7x15 Reaction and Commentary: Butterfly Effect 

someone mentioned the irony of how endeavor, just like all might was able to change the weather. he also changed it with his kids. he wanted to surpass all might and thought his kids could do it for him but sadly they did it because they were fighting against each other. i wonder if endeavor ever thinks about how he was able to reach #2 because of his own hard work while ofa was a group effort. sadly his own ego was his downfall, he forgot why he became a hero in the first place. i wonder what endeavor's father would think of him.

I love that so many of the early story beats in this series have such far reaching consequences. That theme of the butterfly effect really shines through the more you look at how things play out, whether it's Hawks killing twice leading to this unmitigated disaster, or Endeavor mistreating his kids leading to the rampage Dabi is on. This show does an excellent job of showing how actions have a range of consequences.

My favorite stupid fun fact about this episode is that in the original japanese, when Skeptic calls Dabi "Mr Daddy Issues", he specifically calls him "Fazakon" which basically translates to "Fatherfucker" which I think is extra hilarious and foul on Skeptic's part "Mr Daddy Issues" is definitely the best possible translation of that for a non 18+ show 😂

The hallway scene with Spinner was really striking to me simply because it’s the only time I think we ever see Spinner excited, happy and fulfilled. Only to instantly rip it away seconds later.

9:18 Not gonna lie its wild that Shigaraki and Spinner actually bonded through playing the PC game League of Legends 😅 in the the manga it specifically makes sure the reader knows that's what Shigaraki was talking about. Although I would've thought given the type of game League was Shiggy would decay through a few keyboards while playing 😅

I like your opinion of Hawks killing Twice being a wrong decision, I also thought since I saw in the manga that it was the wrong move, I've seen people justifying it saying that it was necessary due to the situation (being a war at that point), but I always thought that although it was the right decision for a soldier, it was not the right decision for a hero, a real hero supposedly needs to help every person they can until the end, even the villain, especially the villain, only in the cases where they are far too gone, the option of execution should be attempted in my opinion. That maybe is why I like villains so much, heroes just have to uphold many expectations and if they don't live up to them, can they really be calling themselves a real hero?

Every episode just leaves me wanting more. Although, I have no clue where things are heading and wonder how scared I should be for some of the characters.

Since I've seen a few different reactors watch this show, I've had to see that scene of Hawks killing twice quite a lot, and it always surprises me how quickly I start tearing up at it. Perhaps I just empathize a little too closely with the idea of someone with a loving heart unable to find acceptance, and fearful of losing what little they have left. Something that frustrates me though is how uncommon the sentiment that Hawks made a poor decision is. Most people I see discussing those episodes mostly just fall in line with the reasoning that lead to it, and you're probably one of the only people I've seen who calls it what it is; a murder.

Spinner while not exactly that sympathetic anymore because of the man hes followings lack of any tangable ideal beyond "society bad lets destroy it" is still a sad cautonary tale of what happens when you follow the wrong person. First he was radicalized by Stain who while no saint at least had ideals even if they where extreme beyond the pale. Then after he started following Shigaraki his only friend who sadly just made him into a worse person. Him also being taken out in basically one shot shows that he didn't actually learn that much and was basically still a chump who even All might dissmissed as a threath. All for one did care about him and his plight in the same way he cares about everyone in how he can use them for his own goals. Spinner is a sad case in what happens when you don't truly think for yourself as while he questiond All for one he never actually did anything and just whent with the flow as things didn't change for him even before Stain he ultimately never truly had any belifes himself. All for ones villest deed is shown here truly cementing him as a irredemable monster. Letting Shigaraki play leauge because we all know Kotaro would never have let his 5 year old son touch that drivel. The fact that Shigaraki is so toxic that he plays leauge solo is just funny. Dabi while being the catalyst for his own fall ultimately still played his part for the demon lord as they still had similar enough goals. Shigaraki at least was groomed witch while not justifying or exusing any of hid atrocius actions at least shows that there could be been a sliver of hope for him witch is basically long gone at this point seeing how easily he embraced evil. With Hawks in the sub he basically just screams at the heros to kill Twice again showing that as much as he regretted his actions and liked Twice the threath he represented was still grater than anything else. Its upp to you if this is better writing than just having him want them to destroy the clones. Random note the fact that All for one had Nomu gathering pheremones in a vail just shows how extremly prepared the guy is. Althoug it probably was with the doctors gifts as I doubt All for one was just lugging it around externally. Fanaticism like this is why the doctor was someone All for one could genuenly call a friend witch to him still basically means a pawn but hey at least the doctor was completley fine with it and just a bit sad that he could not see the fruit of their labours. All that science wasted on evil because society spurned him and All for one was the only one to belive in him mostley because he of course can't have the singularity happen to him.

AFO the true empath knowing exactly how to crush absolutely everyone emotionally and use everyone's emotions however he pleases

Looks like the power of friendship won in the end! Although it wasn’t in the way some were expecting. It wasn’t Present Mic’s love for his friend that ended up getting Kurogiri involved. Nah, it was the mutual love for Tomura that tipped the scales of the battle. The fight with Tentacole last episode may have been lost, but the battle for ultimate victory has only just started!

Alright just another big combination of the battles. I’ll just dive in we all know this train is going to be nonstop for a while. Spinner after…well not LOSING but not winning to Shoji either just goes back to his main goal of breaking into the hospital to go get Kurogiri for the villains. Mind broken or not he’s still harnessing the mob well until they make it to the hospital. And a very important factor just needs to be said. There’s historically MANY riots like this one. And when it’s for the right cause the anger is justified but still FAR TOO MUCH damage to ever be worth it. And that’s what’s so terrifying about them. Here? The anger is justified, but the target could never be LESS justified to be angry at. Angry at the heroes/police/public for how so many treat you on their biases? Attack the hospital. And it dawns on them IMMEDIATELY when they enter. They just went about this in the WORST way. This high tech hospital has helped so many people and the doctors are so devoted they won’t even listen to protocol to leave. There’s a reason attacking hospitals and essentials for civilians is a war crime. You’re messing up WAY too much. And Spinner makes it to Kurogiri’s hospital room RIGHT when he thinks he’s made it to be “SOMEBODY” with these people at his back. And is met with no one to praise his accomplishment. Just Present Mic trying to put an end to Spinner since there’s little he can do to quell the riot. Shoji and the doctors have done more than anyone can. Those that saw the lines of doctors slowly turn around and say their words. They can’t bring themselves to continue. It’s not worth it, even with their justifiable anger. It just has to stop. And when everyone has stopped, the liberation that remains is easily singled out as those that want to hurt and nothing more. And all that’s left is to put a stop to what is going on in the hospital. Mic EASILY defeats Spinner. Shattering his armor and leaving him unconscious. And Mic has a task of insuring Kurogiri can’t be used by the villains. To do this, Mic has thoroughly removed thinking that this is in fact Oboro Shirakumo. And goes to put an end to him once and for all. But he hesitates from his memories, and he makes a crucial error. Spinner garners ALL the will he has to stand up one last time and wakes up Kurogiri, and we even get to see a haunting image as Shirakumo who looks CONSCIOUS from within, gets recovered and becomes Kurogiri once more. The villains win back THEIR ally, THEIR friend as the hero can’t bring himself to truly reach out to his humanity and takes the quicker path. And now we have a warp gate ON THE VILLAIN side. Good thing there’s not 10 trillion options to filter THROUGH it both as weapons and people organization A LOT LESS favorable to the heroes. And now back to the weather. The host doesn’t like AFO while others are too afraid to support her. And the weather is going CRAZY from the Todoroki’s collective firepower. Touya wanted to continue his plan of eliminating Shoto and bringing him to Endeavor like AFS used Bakugo for Deku, but his body is not any sense of stable. He can’t fight them both. So he moves on to fight Endeavor. And THIS guy traveling ANYWHERE would cause HEAPS of collateral from mere proximity. And now that Kurogiri is back in the game, Touya can go straight to Endeavor. So it’s not just untold collateral flying to him, but he’s still able to FIGHT like this. And Burnin is just dumbfounded this is POSSIBLE with the one of the BIGGEST things we know of Touya. He has a firepower greater than Endeavor, but the weak constitution of his mom. And the Doctor even said that Dabi never should have survived THIS long. He never should have made it to the events of MHA. And one of the BIGGEST mysteries in the show has started to show its face as well. The hand that Tenko was gifted ALL THESE YEARS later survived Deika, survived Endeavor, survived the war. And now? We know. The ONE hand that didn’t fit the others. The 5th bonus hand AFO unexplainably offered Tenko. A trophy from the past. Not Tenko’s but AFO’s. A microdevice in Shimura’s hand. Not Tenko, not Kotaro. The ONLY hand that would be relevant to give him is RIGHT OFF THE BODY OF NONE OTHER THAN NANA SHIMURA. THIS is why she appeared in the AFO vestige realm in S6E4. And that has one other question. Why is it in the SAME CONDITION as the hands of the FAMILY. And the new organization is complete as you’re left wondering the unimaginable. Dabi makes it to Endeavor, a fight we know he never would have won. And Twice comes back from beyond the grave destroying Hawks efforts to end him because Toga loves him, and is obsessed with him now. And one is holding Tsu’s goggles. Hawks has a new target to go after. As AFO just TAUNTS while a warp opens behind Monoma and Aizawa, the two we NEED to keep this fight even between Deku’s OFA and AFS. And now? AFO. AFO PRIME is left with no opponents. There are NO circumstances worse in this scenario. But we HAVE to learn how it got this bad 1st. Gang Orca is fighting the high end and confirms it doesn’t have super regeneration. MOONFISH IS STILL IN PLAY HERE. And Toga is prancing through the water to get back at those that rejected her feelings AGAIN. She has no way out with numbers lowering. So all she has is to bet on the stock of blood. An attraction for the Nomu, getting to copy Tsu for them to hesitate with Tsu CLEARLY injured, and then…30-40 MINUTES of sad man’s parade. How bad is this? 17 seconds is all it takes uninterrupted to make 130,000 people anything longer goes WAY BEYOND THAT. And with Kurogiri? There’s WAY too many places that are unguarded for the duplication to spread to its MAXIMUM. To put it simply? All hell has broken loose.

I like how everyone questions why people would be watching midnight news in America. But after a second to process (definitely not staring at a certain weather lady) everyone *immediately* understands why...

The fact that Spinner was able to take TWO full out screams from Mic is wild. His insides should be mush 😅

Dabi did it to destroy Endover, Toga likes it or not does mean anything to him.He did a bit of all of one. He likes toga in somesense because he likes evil.
