So glad you are feeling better! We've missed your reviews and the beautiful scenery, so happy you are back! What an incredible knife, all business! Boy, is it slicey, nice clean cuts on the tomato too. Thanks for the review, such a brilliant design! 👍
The sliciness of this surprised me! Just a fantastic allrounder. Like the M95! So happy the flu is out of the way, I just hate been longer periods inside. Thanx for watching my friend, have a great day!
Im so glad the flu is finally done. Hate to sit around inside, particulary this time of year. One of the top times to be outdoors. Thanx for watching my friend, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲
Interesting seeing the birds, amphibians and animals all enjoying spring in your introduction. I did a small amount of research on the whitetail deer that I see in your videos. They were a gift to the Finland people from Finnish immigrants from my childhood state of Minnesota in North America. 1935 seven fawns were imported to Finland a few years later more were imported to give more genetic diversity because only one of the original males had lived to mate with does. Now there is a thriving population. I grew up eating meat from these beautiful animals. It was a milestone in a young man’s life to have successfully hunted harvested one of them. I enjoyed your walk up the little creek to the lake. I also have spent many happy hours following creeks and rivers, they seem happy to have someone checking in with where they come from or where they are going. I like the shape of the of the little knife, am hoping that the blade manufacturer will soon sell the blade only so that I can make my own with birch bark handle. I am not interested plastic handles or sheaths, they don’t have any soul, in my opinion. I am old fashioned, I like horses, wood boats & canoes, log homes, bamboo fly rods…..the list goes on and on. I was worried about you, afraid that you had stop filming RU-vid videos. Glad you were able to successfully defeat the flu. My wife brought back a flu bug she picked up in the Netherlands. We stayed away from each other or wore masks, I was lucky and did not get it. Thank you for your good reviews, I enjoy them immensely.
Oh yeah, they brought them here from there, remember reading about that. We have three different deers nowadays here where I live: white-tailed deer, roe dee, some european fallow deers. A bit northern from here lives the Finnish Forest Reindeer (which is different than the regular reindeer) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cm3Kb6xTCJQ.html I like your old fashioned way! I very much like that too. I grew up only using wooden handled puukkos with leather sheaths, thats it. This is one of the only kydex sheaths I own. And WOW, always wanted to have Bamboo rods. Love them! I have some vintage Orvis Graphite rods. Thanx for watching my friend, have s great day!🌲⭐️🌲
Nice introduction again. Looking forward to seeing the cranes here again. They are back, I have heard their dinosaur noises but not seen them yet. The toads reminded me of Unni (though hard to tell they weren't frogs, I think I need glasses 😂). She caught one on Karhunkierros, it tasted disgusting, she wouldn't feed that even to a human. It's a great little knife. I am sure we will both be carrying them a lot this summer. Glad your feeling better mate.
Thanx man! Oh yeah, this is just one of those knives that I see me grabing with me very often. Well already am. There's just not much not to like about this one. Thanx for watching my friend, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲
I have to say im surprised how much I like this. Just about perfect neck knife design imo. From the blade design, materials, grinds to sheath. Going to be a high use knife for sure. Thanx for watching my friend, have a great day!
I've watched this about 6 times today! LOVE that M23! Got to get one! What a knife, love it! Especially the "pointy" tip, it can get into some very tight nook and crannies when you are carving, plus 80CrV2 steel, my FAV carbon steel!! Can't wait until they hit the US! Other than my Puukko's, most all of my knives are drop point, nothing as "Pointy" and precise as this blade! Also love the neck sheath, particularly in the winter with heavy layers of clothing can make access to a belt knife rather limited! With the neck carry, you know right where it is with minimum fuss! In the summer, when roaming around it shorts and T-shirt, the neck sheath is out of your way and so lightweight, you hardly know it's there, yet still at your fingertips! 👍👍
For sure, the pointy tip is awesome! One of my most precise blades! Totally awesome. Everything just works. You see it has been designed by somebody who has used knives all their life. And is enthusiastic about them. He knows what works. Thanx stopping by, cheers!
Nahe perfektes Neck knife. Peltonen weisst wie man höchst benutzbare Messern designt. Danke für's Zuschauen mein Freund, hab einen schönen Tag!
Beautiful spring scenery. I was wandering do you use any mushrooms for your cough/cold? . That's a fantastic knife from Peltonen, they really hit the perfect spot.
Thank you! Yeah I use Chaga mushroom when I have cold. Im actually surprised how much I like the knife, see this becoming a high use kkife for me. Such a workable design, from the grind and specs of the blade, to the super comfortable handle! Thanx for watching my friend, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲
nothing like getting back in the woods to calm things down those jp penlatons are nice group of knifes I love terva jarakka pukkos also alot of the same qualitys but the heat treatment might be a hair better on penlatons maybe what's your thoughts
I like both of them, but definitely think the JP Peltonen is superior in design, fit & finish and heat treatment. But both are great! Thanx for watching, have a great day!
@@OldForestBushcraft do you know about pepperoni rolls? It looks like that but with sliced meat and cheese. Sometimes people put peppers inside too. They were invented in West Virginia for miners to take to lunch. Easy and convenient in the woods too
@@piningbuck no, but that sounds fantastic! Sometimes we put also things like pickles, ham, eggs, cheese, tomatoes also inside. Its called Lihapiirakka, Liha = meat Piirakka = pie. So a Finnish minced meat pie.
Ei mutta tulee olemaan ikein hyvä siinä. Tykkään käyttää muita kuin ns. "oikeita" sienipuukkoja sienestämisessä. Olen tehnyt näin jo 30 vuotta. En pidä perus sieni veitsistä.
@@OldForestBushcraft kaveri tilasi mulle yhen Kuusamoon, koti kotoon. Kulen aika keviästi jote ei mene käsimatkatavarana. Mutta se on hyvässä jemmassa.
This comment doesn’t have anything to do with this small fairly expensive knife. This is the only way I know how to contact your You are also the only Finnish fly fisherman that I feel like I know, so here is my question. I would like to know if you have any knowledge of a a Finnish Salmon Fishing Fly called Vihree made with brown bear hair, green hackle, and gold, red yellow fly tying materials. I would like to know more about this flys history, plus anything else about this fly. I would be happy to communicate in some other way. Text or email, but I don’t know of what those ways would be. I don’t even know your name. I do know that we share a lot of the same things in common.
Hi, I did some digging and it appears to be designed by guy named Juha Järvinen, a professional fly fisher. If I understood correctly it was designed specifically to the River Teno, border river between Norway and Finland. One of the biggest salmon rivers in Europe. Funny enough I started my Fly Fishing in that very river in early 90s. Though Im more of a trout and grayling fisher. Looks nice the fly! Please check my instagram account, there I share much more other stuff. And it great way to chat and share things. (My name is Ilari btw.)
Thank you for telling me about the origin of that fly. A friend of mine in Minnesota sent me a couple of Vihree Flies and instructions on what materials were needed to tie it. He couldn’t remember where he got the original recipe for it other than it was from Finland. He also said it was an excellent trout fly in smaller sizes. In 2019 I made a road trip to Northern Finland to Utsjoki on the River Teno to see the famous Teno River Boat. Spent a few hours with the builder and his wife, beautiful wooden boat, expertly hand crafted by him. They have a nice internet web site Tenon Vene if you want to see his boats. I would love to have one to use in Alaskan Rivers but getting one over here is beyond the limits of my financial ability. I too am mostly an Arctic Grayling and trout fisherman, dearly love to float a Klinkhammer dry fly to rising Grayling on the nearby rivers. Thank you for you videos and information provided in them. Have a sparkly day!
@@RichardBarnes-nb6nz oh yeah, Klinkhammer js a fabulous fly. I might even say that Grayling is my favorite. Heading to kitkajoki (maybe my favorite river in Finland) in late summer for one week to fish graylings (well big trouts also). Thanx for sharing, sounds like you had a great time in lapland! Have a great sunday!
How could you get bored watching this interesting review of this new knife. Not my kind of knife by any means (I don’t like modern materials for handles or sheaths) but, for many of us a close enough rendition of the almost perfect knife for real life uses. Very few of us are daily fighting bears, man eating cats or Rambo fighting thick chested men. This knife is really all we need.
