My Honest Review of Tower of God: Great Journey 

The real bottleneck in the game is the "chance to upgrade" mechanic. You can blow through 2 million gold without leveling the gear you picked for the upgrade. I mean sure the game doesn't want you to level up fast it's understandable, but if it had a pity mechanic that if it failed than the chances will improve a little bit, it would be a cool QOL change

I was definitely was turned off by it being an afk game. I would like to see a tog game where we can pick their moves and be more involved in the combat. It just feels less immersive.

I was at top 20 global server for the first 2 weeks, dropped it now bc of the super simplicity of the game, there's really not enough activities to do... but it really opens the door for other TOG games on the future

Since it’s free and I have been exited for it I will give it a try. I have played auto battlers and don’t hate them so a ToG themed afk game might interest me as long as it’s not too P2W where you are perma stuck

Im like top 10 in pvp and was able to get into the top 15 power, tower trial etc. The bottlenecks are very rng dependant and you can sometimes skip through if you get lucky enough to get sachi or evan or something. They are giving out a free yuri jahad with her ignition weapon currently in her event which is 2 legendaries so now is a good time to start.

They're fixing the text speed with today's patch! But I agree with you on some of the gripes. I've been playing since Korean launch so the resource nerf Global got is really painful. It eases off a bit like two weeks in but only crazy people like me would keep on climbing the Sisyphus gacha mountain to get to that point lmao, most people would quit pretty quick. I wish they'd make materials and currencies a LITTLE easier to get.

Diehard fan of the manhwa. Had the lowest expectations about the game. But I tried cause of a friend. Now week later I can’t stop playing it and midmaxing everything I can

Been playing since launch and honestly it’s my favorite afk style game, second or third favorite gacha game. It’s definitely not for everyone and there are some valid problems some people have pointed out but most of them boil down to the global release being slower and less user friendly than the Korean version which will only really matter if you’re a gacha whale.

Been seeing a lot of good reviews from friends of mine and it really pains me to know I still haven't played the game yet 💀

So i experienced what you talk about where its hard to make progress in fact I reach that point quite often and one of the things I like about this game is its strategy element. If you have enough characters and you know what all of them do then sometimes you can progress a bit further by changing around some characters or switching their position. ofc there are some points where you cant progress even if you do this

I already have Arknights as my daily grind game, but i agree that the artworks are just incredible

Can we get reviews of the new TOG chapters?? I feel like the hiatus was really good for SIU, the creativity in both story and artwork is noticably improved. And we are back to a more cold/violent setting. They are some really good chapters and like 10 of them

I wasn’t a big fan of the auto battle function for everything. If anyone has played brave frontier before, their auto battle system was really nice. I could play manually through with turn based combat or I could use the menu and program each character and how they specifically auto battle, how many times my game will rerun the same dungeon before stopping, how fast the animations were(could go up to like 5x speed)

I tried played and got Ehwa. Unfortunate couldn't get her ignition weapon. Gonna try again when released SEA, I won't trying to get Ehwa and just saving up to any future characters and their ignition weapon. I want saving up enough for pity both character and weapon.

Was kinda hoping for it too be a Rpg style game, but it's good for what it is. I LOVE the art, every character looks awesome. I do my daily missions still for now.

It's a good game with a lot of room for improvement, as a free to play im rank 60 with 210K BP and I have a lot of fun playing. If they add better gold, summoning tickets system, and add afk farming for Tower of trial it's gonna be epic. Also family wars would be fun.

When's the Towers and God's character event? I need my 5 Star Damien. 😂

So I’ve been playing the game since launch and I have to say; any other gotcha game I’ve played I’ve grown bored with quickly. For some reason this game grabbed my attention and I’m still playing it. I can’t say I’m free to play as I spend about 15-20 Canadian a month. It’s perfectly possible to play the game entirely free to play. For and idle style gotcha game, this is definitely one of my more favorite time wasters.

Till how far does the story mode progress?

I've been playing since release day (currently lvl. 97) and I have to say this review remains pretty accurate as you reach midgame. Once the initial beginner rewards dry up summons/diamonds get harder to come by but it is partially made up for by better rewards in other areas. In the recently ended Yuri event and the ongoing Endorsi event the rewards are pretty solid and you can clear them out in about a week so you can buy up all the gold with the leftover points. I personally did hit a very hard gold and skill book bottleneck at the transition to midgame, but after the events broke the gold bottleneck and I got high enough in the tower that keys were netting me enough books, progress became sped back up (obviously not as fast as the start but I made progress in some aspect/mode daily). I have been pretty lucky on my 5* pulls so that may be part of it but I honestly think the bottlenecks aren't nearly as pain inducing as some other mobile games on the market. I'm not the most avid player of mobile games overall but as a massive fan of tower of god I would agree with this review and recommend at least trying the game for a week or so. Happy climbing peeps :)

It's a decent side game, I treat it like a tamagotchi just like every Idle game I play. Obviously I won't spend a single dime on it lol.

Ive been playing eveyday since release. I think its a pretty fun gotcha and I just love that Tog has a mobile game. It could use some improvements on progession and loot but nothing major.

Having read the reviews I'm kinda turned off a lot on it... I've been playing a LOT of AFK-style games since the pandemic and know they're a massive time sink... *sigh* I guess I'll give this a shot lol

Personally not a big fan of this type of game, so I'm really not the targeted audience. I'm just praying that one day we get a console/PC TOG fighting game.
