I have the Ninja AF300. I’ve had it for a year now and I haven’t used my gas oven since. The 300 model has slightly smaller drawers but I still managed to do myself a Christmas dinner in it last year for myself. Half a chicken in one drawer with the pigs in blankets and stuffing balls. Then in the other drawer my roast potatoes and roast carrots and roast parsnips and one of those ready made Yorkshire puddings. Did my veg in my steamer on the hob. Christmas dinner done in half an hour 😃 I love my air fryer. If I want to do a whole chicken I cut it in half and put half in each drawer as my smaller model not big enough to do a whole chicken. I do pork chops, steak, salmon in mine. I love your videos. Keep them coming xx 💕

First of all would like to say your comments are fantastic, you don't shy away from the bad stuff and you post your not mistakes but things that don't quite turn out perfect , good job, we had a cosori before and it was great but the twin with the probe is on another level. We have tried roast's Whole chickens with the probe and all of these dishes turned out perfect, we did keep a watch at certain times to check the cooking temps and I have to say we are very happy. All that's left to say is keep up the good work, we love this channel. Thank you.

What a wonderful review! I purchased a Cosori Dual basket air fryer instead of the Ninja because the temperature goes to 450F and the Ninja didn't, and for the recipes I use the extra heat does the trick! Each drawer has a viewing window so you don't have to open the drawer when its cooking. Very pleased with my purchase.

Hi, I have just discovered your channel and subscribed. I have had a Ninja foodie for about three years now, it’s the smaller version as there is only my husband and I. I use it mainly for slow and pressure cooking. I have recently bought the dual drawer, the same model as yours. I’m still learning how to use it but most recipes have worked so far. I can do a complete meal as there is only two of us. One of my daughters has the same machine and they are a family of six. She uses it daily as she has to do different meals, the younger two children have food allergies. I still use my oven, hob and microwave as well. It depends on what I am going to cook. Thanks again for the videos and keep up the good work x

A very fair assessment Lindz. In some ways I envy your 2 drawer version (like cleaning), as I think you know, I've got the Multizone and I think, all thinks being equal and hand on heart, the Multizone is the better option for me and for instance, would make feeding 4 persons easier. Using these machines is easy and quick ..... we haven't used our oven at all since we bought it. They obviously do save money. I'm so pleased I found you on RU-vid and you just inspire me so much - just love your delivery and long may you continue to knock out good honest grub. My only concerns with air frying are that I can't really see how I can do Chinese or Indian stuff. Take care x

Hi Lindz, thank you for your helpful reviews and recipes. I recently bought a Tower T17099 Vortx, which has 2 drawers 5.2l and 3.3l. I'm new to air fryers so didn't want to splash out on the Ninja but needed a decent size for our family of 3. It's amazing - cooked a 1.5kg roast chicken no problem with roast potatoes and microwave steamed veg, all on the table in well under the 1hr 35 mins it would have taken in the oven. Absolutely love it and think it's a great cheaper option if you need the larger capacity ‐ I got some accessory racks so I can double up cooking 2 layers of food in one drawer. Nina
@LindzandLife
@LindzandLife 7 месяцев назад
Hi Nina 👋 I actually looked at the air fryer you bought before I decided on the ninja, and I must say I still like the look of the tower. The idea of having the 2 different size draws is handy, and Iso glad to hear you're happy with it. Thank you for being here and happy cooking x
@ninjac8866
@ninjac8866 6 месяцев назад
Thanks Lindz, I've revisited your video as I've some more thoughts after using the Vortx for 6 weeks. It's a great slightly more budget option if you need a larger dual drawer for the family (£69 bashed box on Amazon) and I've cooked lots of meals in it. However it takes longer to bake meals from scratch (Tower says add 5 mins) and you need to parboil chips first otherwise they don't cook well. I use my Sistema rice cooker pot to boil them in the microwave. Roast meats are great, though I have had to butterfly very large chicken breasts otherwise again they need finishing off in the microwave. Baked frozen snacks like sausage rolls, nuggets, mini samosas are fantastic - the pastry tastes way better than when I've done them in the oven. The Tower website has a free recipe book which I've found very useful too. Really appreciate your videos as a novice air fryer home cook. Nina

We have the next one up with the round dial in the centre. The most annoying thing for me is setting the timer, if you keep your finger pressed on the button the timer drops in 5 second intervals until it gets to 15 then it drops to 1. most things i cook are for either 8, 10 or 12 minutes. It is in fact cheaper to use a gas oven but it doesn't crisp up as good. Definitely cheaper than using an electric oven though unless you have a lot to cook. All in all they are an asset to the kitchen. I do struggle to get decent chips compared to using a deep fat fryer.
@daverees986
@daverees986 8 месяцев назад
Shumai Cariad. Interesting video regarding, using different energy utilities for cooking, and we 're all feeling this now and it will only get worse. What ever fuel you use there is a difference in price between electric, and gas. Only what a lot of people get misled on is your oven may it be electric or gas is thermostatically controlled, the biggest energy consumption is when you turn it on, after a short time the thermostat will regulate the temperature for the duration time of the cooking. Its the electric or gas hob that sucks up your energy consumption. If you have to use your hob, buy a stack system of pans, so the primary heat travels through the other two tiers of the sauce pans. Saving on energy and money. ( Ps the Ninja works the same way think thermostatically controlled. (Me again from South Wales.) Your video's are down to earth, educating, and help a lot of other people.🐑🍀 Still cant find a Daffodil.
@LindzandLife
@LindzandLife 8 месяцев назад
Hi Dave 👋 Thank you for that wonderful explanation much better than I could have explained it. Same principle as an oil filled radiator that I'm currently sitting beside. Heats to the selected temperature and then turns off until the temperature drops a little so it's not constantly pulling its kwh. I think a lot of people get confused by the ins and outs of the energy ratings. I have plug in energy meters and love to see how much things actually cost to run. Enough babble from me 🤣 I can't find a daffodil either x

Hi Linz love your recipes just like Mam used to make so,all very familiar which means that I can replicate my favourites in the in the Ninja . Re-liver etce, I always use flour on the slices,it holds the flavour in and helps with the gravy. Streaky bacon cut up in small pieces helps to cut down on oils sweated first helps then continue as normal.( if you like the. smoky bacon Wow) it’s a treat).😊❤

Hi Terry 👋 I just had a search as I didn't know chefree made a 2L. I think once you start using it, you'll love it, and once you're used to it, they do make cooking and clean up a lot easier. I think it all depends on what you want to use it for and how long it lasts. I bought a Russell Hobs Satisfry as I wanted it mainly for baking. It is amazing, not particular quicker but must be cheaper to run than my main oven which I have not used apart fro. Xmas Dinner since I bought it. I also have a R.H. Well done my Lully I can see you’ve really thought this out. I have a Tower twin door with lights in both compartments and a windows which I find very handy. I also thought about all the time I cooked normally ie without an Oven lol maybe it’s a sight of the times. All I would need would be a built in 4 or 5 ring hob giving more space for wifey to store yet more junk (she a hoarder 😀) if we don’t see you before have a lovely Christmas x. Hi Linz, i bought the ninja 30lt oven and it's a nightmare to clean! Ninjas cleaning advise its totally inadequate. The nonstick coating is like trying to get blood out of a stone, literally, it cant be done. I resorted to oven cleaner and even that didnt work.! 😢 my advise, buy an air fryer oven with a stainless Steel interior. Definitely going to try The Pink Stuff, thanks Linz ❤

i was extremely lucky, about 3 months ago 2 sisters from USA whom i've been facebook friends with over 10 years gifted me the little brother of your Ninja after i'd been trying to make my mind up for the past 2 years. it has totally changed my eating habits. fresh bread rolls in the morning if i want them , more proper meals with mostly chips or tater tots, meat or fish. i mostly do my veg in the micro zap box as being single i find frozen veg cheaper and can have a larger range to choose from. i am hoping to get a new kitchen next year with more room and even more storage as the cooker will disappear. i shall get an electric double hob cooker thing that i can put away if not needed so more free counter space. atm my counter space is so small that the ninja lives in the sitting room (great for midnight snacking) . i think my ninja is amazing and i hope it will live as long as me, not just because of the replacement costs, but it is a very very special ninja for me :)

One new item we love is an induction hob........ Tefal single portable hob which will powerfully boil a huge stockpot of water while also taking up very little space. 13amp plug so no hard wiring and stick it away in your cupboard when finished. IKEA also do a single as well as a twin portable induction hob which is slightly less powerful. Just bear in mind that you need metal pots that will attract a magnet otherwise, they won't work!

I’m about to pull the plug on a ninja and thinking of the 300 smaller version which I believe you can get a 1.6kg chicken in. On the cost front if you consider a conventional oven which runs at 5-6kwh the ninja runs at about a third if that so for an hour of cooking you’re looking good at about 80p as opposed to nearly £2.50 for a normal oven.
@LindzandLife
@LindzandLife 7 месяцев назад
Hi lovely Mines, a 400 model, and it's a snug fit with a 1.2kg chicken so I'm not so sure there'd be proper air flow for a 1.6kg chicken in the smaller draws of the 300. Thank you for your calculations. I hope you have a great 2024 x

I used to use my oven almost every day, because 'put thing in hot for a while' is about the extent of how much cooking I can do (disability stuff) on a regular basis, so having an air fryer is definitely using less electric, I'd say, for me. I got the same Ninja as you in the black friday sale, after a year with a 5.5l Cosori and it's definitely better, not that the old one was bad! I considered getting one of the cheaper dual drawer options, but they all looked a bit of a false economy, really, or at least like there was a decent risk of that.

The Ninja AF451 max wattage is 2470W, my Bosch A+++ oven is 2990W. Using 1 Ninja draw is probably 1235W vs 2990W for my oven. One Ninja draw uses 59% less electricity than my oven and using both draws uses 17% less electric. In most cases an air fryer doesn't need pre heating and take less time to cook the food adding to the energy savings. To run my oven for an hour it costs 2.99x26.86p = 85.5p, for one air fryer draw the cost is 1.235 x 26.86p = 33.2p to run both draws 2.47 x26.86p = 66.3p. all prices are subject to 5% UK energy tax making the oven 89.9p per hour and the Ninja between 34.9 and 69.6p per hour.

Hi Lindz, great video. Had our 451 a month now, only used main oven once which was last night when we had a full sized pizza! Brilliant for us doing frozen chips, frozen fish fingers in fact any thing frozen, full Sunday chicken roast dinner( chicken upside down 30 mins, turn after 30 mins) was excellent. Ribeye steak beautiful, lamb steaks same. Gammon joint amazing, put crackling back in for a bit longer and it was fantastic. Roasted potatoes were ok but not as nice as in oven, complete fail on poached eggs but both these were probably down to me so will persevere. It does tend to cook things dry so it’s best to keep an eye on things like bacon Overall well impressed but it is a case of trial and error and if at first you don’t succeed!! Hi Lindz, I don’t have the dual drawer, but I have one of the 1st grills and the xl grill. I put the splash guards in the dishwasher, they come out a treat. I do not like the non stick coating as it is very thin and scratches very easy. I have never used metal utensils, only silicone. I do have a speedi, and much prefer it. You can do a whole meal at one time in around 15 minutes. I have seen that a lot of people complain about the cleaning of some of the ninja products. I would not buy anymore ninja products, because I think they are too expensive for what they are. I do have an instant pot which I like. I much prefer the stainless steel pot. To save yourself a few pennies or in our case cents, if you can, get yourself a portable induction hob. With a whole chicken, there isn't a lot of space between the top of the chicken and the element, so the bag only has to balloon a small amount and it will hit the element. A friend did exactly that, piercing the bag in a few places, but it still ballooned enough that it stuck to the element. That is not something you want to be dealing with! 🙂

An air fryer is an additional aid to cooking and should not be treated as a be all and end all item. I have 2 air fryers and one air fryer oven, one of my air fryers allows me to slow cook or pressure cook and I have camping gas cooker so most of my cooking is covered by these. You can not cook a full Sunday dinner in an air fryer so your Christmas dinner, unless you are having turkey parcels, can not be cooked in an air fryer, some times a normal oven and hob can't cope with that. They have their place and I think any one who says that they haven't used their oven since buying one is just living on fast food meals and not enjoying real meals that have variety if ingredients. No air fryer on it's own is big enough to feed a family of four with real meals without some compromise. I know one video vlogger who makes a meal for 4/5 or 6 but has to use her oven to keep things warm whilst other things are cooking and she quite openly admits that that is what you do.

We cook a whole chicken and roast potatoes in our Ninja AF400 twin with vegetables done on the stove top which feeds five when grandkids are up. Normally just the two of us and hardly use our double oven anymore as the airfrier is so versatile for preparing most foods. We don't live on fast foods.......

@@fabianmckenna8197 As you said normally just the two of you but what about a family of 4. Surely you don't give them mini portions. And you are using your stove top.

I have a Nija speedi, and we don’t have takeaway food ever, and I’ve never turn my oven on since last March when I bought my speedi, but there’s only the 2 of us, I am considering buying the Nija dual, and taking the speedi down to our caravan, just to have the 2 draws, one for meat and pots and the other for roast veg. I haven’t used the speed. Option as much as I thought I would, as I was showing being pre diabetic , so I’ve avoided Pasta and rice. I’ve used my induction hob occasionally, but it’s a cheap one, and no where near as good as my Bosch that I put in my last kitchen.

You need to not use your oven for 530 hours only for itself in electricity savings. Average 34p per hour cheaper than an oven. At 1 hour a day of oven use you need to the air fryer for an hour a day instead for 18 months to break even in costs. That’s if the air fryer cost £180 to purchase.

But by saving 50% cooking time than an oven you can half those figures.
