Meet my host family!!

Yes we put sugar & chocolate on our bread, but at least we don't deep-fry our candy bars ...

I always had the bread toasted. The butter melts and the Hagelslag melts a little too and the whole thing is warm and comforting. I was always served cocoa w/ it too. I love the salt licorice. Dubble Zout is the best.

My mom always used to dunk her speculaas in her tea :D Or with stroopwafels you can put them on top of your tea cup so it warms and softens up a bit before you eat it.

The mom unveiled the secret right there. The trick is to have your stroopwafel soften up while you place it on top of your cup of coffee, and dunk it in ever so slightly after it's gotten sufficiently bendable.

The speculaas is great dunked in koffie is super and the stroopwafels you can put 30sec in the microwave, not to hot just warm or as i do i put it on top of my just poored kub of koffie and let the hot steam warm it.

Stroopwafels you Can place on top of a hot tea cup. Let iT get warm and then eat. Dont dip...let iT steam

Or put it in the microwave for a few seconds. That way you don't get all these crumbs in your tea.

a stroopwafel you don't dunk but you put it on top of a tea or coffee to make it melt the toffee layer abit it gives it a bit more aroma that way :) if you buy them at the weekly market generally iits fresh there still hot from the waffle iron its made on.

Not much of real food ;-) But very Dutch and delicious all of them :-) So how about have them eat Stamppot Boerenkool met spekjes? :-)

That is more difficult, lots of ingredients you cant buy in the states. As example, you can make a "gehaktbal" but the herbs are not widly spread for sale in the usa. To do that she would make a several hour drive

@@atarvos8686 Which herbs (or spices, whichever you meant) do you think they can't get in the US? Not trying to be annoying, I'm genuinely curious

@@B-Meister the problem why the herbs are not in the usa...is because but almost no one sells them, because no one buys those. Just as the usa has a lot of herbs i can not but here (that easy) With as example for the bbq. A nice one is savory, or marjoram

Those are not "pepernoten" but "kruidnoten". "Pepernoten" are really tough to chew.

Mischa T. Superleuk! Als het mogelijk is om dit te doen zou ik het zeker aanraden!! Mijn ouders hebben een groot deel betaald en verder heb ik gewerkt om geld te verdienen. Succes!
