MY HSG TEST EXPERIENCE! | 2 HSG TESTS IN 1 WEEK! 

I'm so glad you shared your experience. I had an HSG last year. I was fortunate in that I experienced more discomfort than actual pain. But it took me months to get up the nerve to actually go through with the procedure. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe what a crazy experience you had. Props to you for pushing through it and enduring the test a second time. I had an hsg done about two years ago when we were trying to conceive my daughter, and interestingly they gave me a single dose of misoprostol to soften my cervix to help with the catheter. I didn’t realize that everyone didn’t get that! Wishing you luck conceiving after the procedure!! ❤️

I’m so sorry you are going through this and you had such a bad experience with the HSG the first try. Thank you for being so open about your miscarriage and infertility and the fertility testing process. I went through two miscarriages and then fertility testing in the span of about a year and we are now just over halfway through our pregnancy with our little rainbow baby. Going through the process, I turned to videos to know what to expect. I love that so many influencers are being so open with talking about their experience with miscarriage and infertility. I had an HSG done over 40 years ago and it was worse than childbirth! That SOB hurt like hell. I already had horrible period cramps but this was on another level. I had 2 kids with NO pain meds or epidural but that HSG was a nightmare! I can’t believe in all these years they haven’t improved the way the procedure is done. When I saw your previous video about the difficulty you had had and that you were going to have to do it again I was so sorry for you. I’m glad you didn’t faint but for anyone who has never had one she is not being dramatic. It hurts like no other. Happy for you it’s over and you get good news from your doctor 💓

Hi Madison I went through 9 months of not getting pregnant finally I had an hsg test I went through the same as you with the pain, the next month I found out I was pregnant. I'm just really grateful that you have decided to share your experience because there are so many who want to be mom and are having difficulties, and maybe one bad experience like the one you had on your first test appointment * which could be really really painful for some * might scare them and prevent them from trying again for a while. It sucks that it happened to you and it pisses me off that someone that is not proficient at something doesn't have the humility to accept that and seek assistance, specially when they are working in healthcare. Having you there for that, long oh man... I would have called the clinic and demanded a refund at the very least. They should know to better train their workers before leaving them treating (more like mistreating) people on their own. ok, rant over... I had this HSG test done years ago in San Diego at the military hospital..I wanted to listen to your experience because your right, it isn’t talked about much.. I had the blockage of tissue and it did hurt for a few minutes but then it was over.. I had a successful pregnancy after . I wish you the best 💕

This is bringing back all these memories of when I had to go through IVF. We’re about to start another round( frozen embryo transfer) for baby #2. All the tests and labs are so overwhelming and if you have to proceed with fertility treatment, that can feel very overwhelming but once you’re pregnant and have that baby in your arms, it’s all worth it and you quickly forget all the poking and prodding lol.

I had two of the HSG tests because of my endometriosis and I have to have my third in August to see if anything changed. The joys of TTC... I never had a great experience with the test and I'm always very crampy due to having a blocked tube. I'll keep you in my prayers for that dream of a second baby to become a reality! ♥️

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had an hsg yesterday.Things went smooth until the contrast went in and then like you said it hit like boom💥 insta-crazy cramping pain. I also had a partial blockage which took 3 rounds of contrast to push it through. I nearly passed out as well afterward. I only had a tylenol before,but wish they could've given me something. I agree with you everyone's body is different. Had I not had the partial blockage the pain would've been bearable. I have a high pain tolerance and this test pushed me over the pain scale. I'm just glad it's over. I'm so sorry you had to go through a fiasco to finally get yours done correctly.I can't even imagine.I wish you all the best with getting pregnant.

I had a complete right tube blockage. I had to have surgery to remove it. You're so lucky the dye worked to unblock you. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing!! yes this procedure is not talk much about. I went through my HSG testing a few months ago and mines was PAINFUL too!!!! the doctor pump 4 times of the dye! it was painful that I don't want to go through it again. I have similar post HSG symptoms like you.

I'm an x-ray student, and we help assist in these procedures! I'm currently doing a small research paper on this, and this was extremely helpful in helping me understand the HSG through the patient's side! Im happy I found this video and helped me understand this procedure more better.

I’ve had an hsg test done, but I wasn’t prescribed any kind of meds for it. It was a bit uncomfortable while it was happening, but no pain, no bleeding afterwards. I’m guessing that maybe it depends on fertility center procedures. I do wish you the best of luck in your ttc journey!!

The pain makes sense. Ectopic pregnancies hurt really badly, too. I haven’t had one but the expanding Fallopian tube made me think of that.

I had an HSG this week and I literally was shocked by how much pain I was in! Didn’t even think it was going to be that bad but woooooow!

Ouch. This test was one of the worst parts of the entire infertility process for me. Super painful, zero insurance coverage, got good results, but the good results also solidified the realization that there was nothing wrong with me.

I had the same pain with my HSG and got pregnant that same cycle after trying for 18months..my tubes were blockedvand were forced open by the procedure....now that my little onevis a year im wondering if I ll have to do an HSG again ...don't know if the closed again.

This put my mind at ease. Thanks so much for making this video!

My thoughts and prayers to you! It is painful! I went through fertility treatments for 2 years. I now have a beautiful baby girl! But with my hsg test they told me my tubes were good the dye went through perfectly and not until I had a ectopic pregnancy later on and they had to remove one of my tubes, they found out my tube was bad the whole time. So the test was pointless for me.

I had an HSG test today and it was SOOOOO PAINFUL! I literally cried it hurt.

I had mine done two days ago, my obgyn didn't tell me to take painkillers beforehand the procedure!!! I wish I read about it before going in but I assumed it was like a smear test boy was I wrong 😩 the pain was nothing like period cramps, it felt like they were cutting my insides without sedation, it was only 5mins, dr immediately said the dye went through nicely and my tubes are open, so I think the pain has nothing to do with if your tubes are open or blocked. My HSG was awful, and emotional because that’s when it was discovered that I have an abnormal uterus shape (unicornuate) and the tech was less than pleasant. But two kiddos later I’m glad I had the test and had the information I needed to move forward and be successful!

I just had mines done today and it was a total fail. The doctor told me that I had tissues and they couldn’t t get the cartridge tru.. I’m so pissed because it was painful.. 😩😩😩

I had a hsg done 2 years ago and had no blockage and not much pain. I got one just recently and it was a little more painful because mucus and debris was blocking my left ovaries. The cramp pain was much longer the 2nd time. The other thing I noticed was the first time I got 3 days of antibiotics and 1 pain killer. The 2nd time I got 1 day of antibiotics, 1 strong pain killer, and 2 pills that stop an allergic reaction to a dye. 1st procedure was done in California and the 2nd was done in Florida.

I had this done last month and my Ob gyn couldn’t go through with it because my cervix was closed, I was so anxious because it was so painful I almost fainted and had an anxiety attack. So she stopped and now I’m traumatized and don’t even know if I want to do it again😭😭😭

I had one done today and doctor could not get the catheter in either!! I just called my OB to see what can we do next. Please wish me luck😬

I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies. The first time I was having twins. One twin was in the right tube and the other in the left tube. 15 years later I had another one in my right tube. They ran tests to see why I keep having them but can't find anything wrong. I'm going to try the HSG procedure before we do IVF. Has anyone had a successful pregnancy after an ectopic pregnancy because of the HSG procedure?

I’m so sorry you had a bad a experience. Definitely file a complaint. No one should go through unnecessary pain during an already painful procedure

I had two hsg exams and it almost sounds like completely different from yours! The pain level, anyways. The details are obviously the same, but both times it took over an hour and was SO painful! I’ve got a super high pain tolerance level and that had me almost crying.

I had one done about 40 years ago. It was different then. They actually attached something on my iterus and that hurt so bad I had tears running down my face. They put the dye in and I had no blockages. I hurt the rest of the day.

I had this test today. I was terrified from listening to other ppl. So I called my dr and requested pain medication! I took an 800mg Ibuprofen and I didn’t feel anything but small cramps from the liquid and I felt him pulling the balloon part out. It was virtually pain free! Afterwards I wore a pad bc I had spotting and clear liquid coming out. I had a radiologist do my procedure too. Take you pain meds one hour before and just try to relax.

Crazy I just got my first yesterday and it was the worst pain I've ever been through and my husband almost passed out watching it all 😅 I'm glad I did it though and my results were good I hope it helps us in our fertility journey 🌈 would never do it again though lol

Aww i have pcos and are currently trying with no luck so far.

So I watched this video before I had my HSG (brought me some OJ just in case I felt faint too) and I just got it done today, for me praise God it was not painful! It was a bit uncomfortable and I felt pressure/minimal cramps but it actually didn’t hurt like my period cramps (which are really sharp and around my lower back). To any of the women who might be anxious like I was, I asked my doctor for a pill for anxiety and 800 mg of Ibuprofen and I was good! So far no pain after the procedure just feels a bit weird down there lol - if you are in Houston visit Dr. Appleton and Sarah at Texas Women’s Pavillon 💕 and best of luck to all you lovely ladies...our day will come!

Your experience was exactly like mine, I fainted also, I drove to the appointment myself and ended up knowing it was unsafe to drive home as I was sweating, in paint, fainting. People need to know the extent of this pain, I was clueless as my doctors didn't say anything about how I might feel, honestly a bit traumatised after it. I had it done yesterday and I am going through you tube and googling it because I felt there was something wrong with me as I experienced so much pain and I take severe menstrual cramps. Nothing like period pain. The pain was soo intense I cant get over it. Made me question whether I could even handle giving birth

Ugh I hated the HSG test it was so painful for me.

The faster they push the dye in, the more it hurts. If you said "ok it's not so bad, just a little crampy" they most definitely sqeezed it in faster. It also explains why there was initially going little through and then more. I seriously doubt it was due to the semi-blockage on both sides. I had HSG tests done too and no matter how much I tried to stay relaxed, the dye injection brought me to tears 🥺

I had mine today and the worst of the pain was only a 3/10. I did take the max dose of ibuprofen and Tylenol right before. Don't psych yourself out.

I had my first HSG test done in 2016 that pain was crazyyyyyy the cramping so terrible unfortunately my tubes are blocked I just recently started taking these serrapeptase pills and chinese herb teas from Amazon I’m definitely going back for another test I pray they are open🙌🏻🙏🏻

Omg I had a similar experience! First attempt at the hsg the dr told me he couldn't get through and that I have cervical stenosis and that's the cause of my infertility. I had never seen this dr before. I cried and was so depressed for the rest of the cycle. Then my obgyn did it successfully next cycle and didn't have any trouble! I was so upset that I went through all of that and was so freaked out.

I was screaming & crying!!! I felt like i was gonna pass out!! I kept grabbing my stomach😭😭

Mine hurt way worse than I thought it was going to but I’ve never had a baby before so my cervix was so small they were having issues. The catheter didn’t hurt but when they put the dye in I literally started sweating and feeling like I was going to vomit. He said mine was normal but it felt absolutely awful.

I just got this done this morning and the worst part for me was the balloon. That was the worst cramp for me. I didn’t have any blockage so it could be why u didn’t even gauge the balloon becuase the dr told me it would hurt if I did have a blockage. Thank you for sharing your experience

I did this dilation with the cathter and it kept falling out. The pain i wenr through and he clamp my vaginal wall and it stung. Now im doing my HSG this Friday. 😭

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I wish you the best of luck with your next baby. Also I had an experience where I had a new family practice dr. I have no idea how new she was but, she did a normal pap and tells me I can't find your cervix. Say what? Never went back to her.

I had an HSG yesterday under light sedation and felt no pain at all. Mild cramping post-procedure and I'm almost normal now. Why suffer if the option of sedation is available? It makes the procedure more expensive but it's totally worth it.

Had my own HSG test an it was not as bad as l expected it to be it was actually like normal period pains.

My hsg hurt so bad I cried and begged for them to stop. They said they had to dilate me . All I know is I had the hsg done on the 12th of this month and still feel cramps. No odor no discharge no sharp pain nor fever so I don't think its an infection. However my husband and I did the baby dance everyday after and the cramps didn't start till day 3 after the hsg. Idk. I'm gonna have to call my doctor . I hope I get pregnant. Been trying for 3 years. He's good I'm good ... btw...my tubes weren't blocked !!! Everything looked good . So idk why it hurt so bad

Oh girl! No way! I can’t .. I’ve always been so scared of having a catheter.. I have a titled cervix, and deal with having cyst on my uterus and ovaries. I’ve dealt with it since having my daughter. Went and had a pap & that’s how I found out. I dealt with years of infertility.. years of pain after intercourse and just random pain throughout the years.. doesn’t feel good at all when they burst . My heart goes out for you . The women who go through IFV & all these different procedures and test.. but what a story to tell to their kids someday. Whether that child be through adoption, surrogacy , or being able to conceive, finally after everything.. I pray for you & hope everything works out, no matter what or how it happens..🤍🤍
