I was told with IUI it was an 18% chance. Like you I felt like it was so low I shouldn’t try. We got pregnant our first try with our son. Remember science only goes so far and then a miracle comes ❤️

So your god performs a miracle after you fail on your own, and science offers a solution... that’s when god performs his miracle. Sigh. Gullibility (faith) is not a virtue and teaching this nonsense will literally stunt your child’s cognitive abilities. Love him more than you fear the unknown/ uncomfortable.

Amanda McGovern I can't tell whether you're bashing God or just faith in general. But believing in God and having faith is always the better option.

Wow. How heartbreaking that IVF is so expensive in America. Everything there is about money. Even having a baby. I live in France and IVF and fertility treatments here are basically Free. It is covered by the National healthcare system.

I think I would trust your OB. He sounds like he knows you and is comforting. The fertility specialist sounds like she may be trying to scare you. I would reach out to a second clinic before you spend any money, even just for piece of mind.

I’m 29 turning 30 in a month. Currently pregnant with my first. Me and my husband tried to get pregnant for 15 months before we conceive, with me ovulating every month. Our OB/GYN didn’t want us to go to fertility specialist he said that if we went another six months without getting pregnant they would consider it. Fertility is a huge business trust your gut always get a second opinion. (I also work in healthcare) don’t lose hope I know how disappointing and disheartening trying for a baby can be. I’m thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband!🙏

The sales pitch was my first gut instinct as well before you even said that I was thinking that! Especially because you just got pregnant. Levels change every month like you said, take those supplements, bring your numbers to a new clinic and see what they say. That’s what I would do. You WILL get pregnant girl, just know that. ❤️

We went through a lot of the same issues. My husband was fine but I wasn’t. I was ovulating but nothing... I did the HSG test my right tube was completely blocked and they couldn’t push any die through. The doctor actually said he wanted to stop because he didn’t think he should continue trying to push more through. I also took clomid and nothing... We saw a fertility doctor and the first thing they said to us was you’ll have higher chances of getting pregnant if you do IVF. I told them I didn’t want to go down that road. So I made peace with the fact that my son wouldn’t have a sibling and starting focusing on my health, taking supplements, my family, and my faith. After six months I was pregnant. I fully believe my baby girl was a miracle because my chances of getting pregnant was cut in half because of my right side. It took us over 3yrs before I got pregnant. It was a long, hard, sad, and isolating journey but I’m so thankful for my baby girl and to be able to give my son a sibling brings me so much joy. Prayers and well wishes

Naw Maddy you’re doing everything so well! I’d trust your gut and investigate further. You’re doing such amazing research as well and are so informed! You may have already found it if you’re on those supplements but one of the most helpful things I found on my journey was the book ‘it starts with the egg’. It was a really clear, well researched outline of improving egg quality and it made it feel so possible and exciting to be working towards something positive!! I also would recommend finding a good acupuncturist that works with women’s health, they can help support your cycle and it can also just be a really relaxing time (even though it may seem intimidating at first). Goodluck on your journey!!! Xx

So brave of you to share. Thanks for sharing. I have had a detailed discussion on having another child with my obgyn back in feb for my year visit. It is a miracle I had my boy who is almost 2 and a half. No lore kids for us because it would possibly kill me going through another pregnancy. I am lucky I went through this one and was ok.

My husband and I have been on the fertility journey for the past 7 years. I too had similar results and my husband did not want to go the ivf route, so we completed three rounds of iui with no success. What we know now I wish we would have saved the money and went straight to ivf. You have to do what is best emotionally and financially for your family. Stay positive!

@Chastin Siegel I definitely had times to give up but I know in my heart my husband and I will be blessed with a precious baby one day. As you will too! I completed our first round of ivf and it resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. It was devastating but I also had to think I finally got pregnant. It gives me hope it will happen again and be successful!

You just keep following that gut instinct through this journey. Over here in Australia, its the same deal with specialists- which angers me to think they are preying on the vulnerable. And lovely, the quote- 'things happen when you least expect it ' applied to four women i know of who was struggling with fertility and became pregnant when they least expected it. Sending lots of love and hugs and prayers your way Maddy!

I got pregnant with my first 2 on the first try in 2007 and 2011. We started trying again in 2016 for our 3rd. I had just come off of birth control and was ovulating regularly but dealing with cysts. I had 2 miscarriages within a few months of each other. I was doing everything possible but wasn't successful. After 9 months of trying with no success, we decided to stop trying and would eventually reach out to a fertility specialist once we wanted to start trying again. I just couldn't handle the emotional roller coaster anymore. Low and behold, I ended up getting pregnant naturally the month we stopped trying. I honestly believe that the stress of trying to get pregnant played a major role in my infertility.

New to your channel and watching my first couple of videos. I absolutely *adore* your intuition. Of course I'm biased because it's a lot like mine, but the whole time I was watching this I kept talking to my screen and I was like, "Don't believe that fertility specialist, Maddy, don't you do it! Something is fishy about this. Your OB has known your body for longer and does not have any investment in your numbers needing fertility help." Good on you for doing your own research, going in with a foundation of knowledge, and listening with an open mind but applying what feels right for YOU!

Thanks for sharing your story. I am currently pregnant thru IUI so I am familiar with both fertility docs and OBs. Please take some of how the fertility doc presents information to you with a grain of salt - they like to set realistic expectations balanced with you continuing to return to their clinic. You are absolutely right that this year is insanely stressful for us all and working on reducing your stress will help. Best of luck and all best wishes to you!

I might also look to a 2nd fertility specialist about everything. My gut is with yours about the fertility doc sounding like a bit of a salesperson. My fertility doc was nothing like yours - he insisted on taking the simplest steps first before going to IUI or IVF.

Stress is a major factor! When I was trying to get pregnant with my second son, my dad had cancer. It was very stressful seeing him go through that. After he passed away, I got pregnant. I tried for 6 months which is not too long but it felt like forever to me at that time. The stress from seeing my dad go through cancer did not allow me to conceive but I know it’s hard to not stress.

I would honestly try clomid. I too had a miscarriage and for 6 months we tried and nothing happened. I too was ovulating every single month, but I expressed my concerns to my obgyn and she had me do a blood test to determine how strong my ovulation was and although I ovulated it wasn't as strong as she wanted to see. I was put on clomid and the first month it worked and we welcomed our baby girl this past November. Clomid is not just for those who don't ovulate.

This! I would get a second opinion and see if they'll let you try a few rounds of Clomid or maybe Femara. My baby is an injectable IUI baby (I don't ovulate and didn't respond to either Clomid or Femara), and while it wasn't as hard work as IVF, it still was no picnic. I was injecting myself nightly and going in for ultrasounds every other day for almost two weeks. Plus, as you probably already know, the chance of multiples is high with Clomid and Femara, but nowhere near as high as on injectables. Depending on what the second opinion says, I wouldn't wait too much longer/do too many cycles of Clomid/Femara before moving on, but it's worth a few tries, at least. Also, FWIW, when I was in the fertility trenches I always heard "an OB/GYN is an expert in pregnancy, *not* in getting people pregnant." So I wouldn't necessarily take your OB's opinion as final.

I’m also 31. I’m newly single and I don’t have any children. I had endometriosis 5 years ago and had large chocolate cysts removed from both ovaries followed by 6 months of a medication that put me in a chemically induced menopause. I went to see a fertility specialist to look into freezing eggs and I got my ovarian count back this week. Your my anti-mullarian hormone is 0.2 (or 0.02? It was a blur) when it should be 1.22 at our age. He explained that means I essentially have the ovarian reserve of a woman in her LATE FOURTIES. If I want to have children, I need to freeze what little eggs I have NOW. And even so, because I have so few I need to go through 2 rounds of hormones and collection to get enough eggs. I’m devastated. Then, I’m basically left thinking I’m probably going to be going into true menopause in the next 5-8 years once my ovarian reserve is gone at the ripe old age of my mid/late 30s. Then when I start dating again at some point I’m going to have to explain I can’t have children the traditional way. It’s hard to deal with, especially without a partner and being newly single. I haven’t been single since I was 21. It’s just a lot

Also, I was thinking of starting some supplements to boost my egg quality since I need the eggs that can be retrieved as bomb and healthy as possible and I too was looking at these ones, especially the CoQ10. Thank you for confirming taking some supplements leading up to retrieval is something I should probably be doing. Going to sprouts today to pick them up :) I hope everything works out for you 🙏🏼

Thank you for the update! Always listen to your gut. Sometimes doctors focus on the worst case scenario because offering the best case and being wrong can cause emotional harm to patients. I also think they offer IVF because it IS scientifically the best option because there is more control over the fertilization process, but that doesn't mean it should be the only option they focus on, especially because it is so expensive and isn't 100% successful. If you feel like your doctor was pressing it for financial gain though, definitely get a second opinion. Good Luck! ❤😊

Take the advice from both doctors at surface level and do not stress the numbers. I struggled for nearly 3 years to conceive. My OB kept telling me I was fine so I sought out a fertility doctor who also said I had “unexplained infertility”. It was so frustrating but after all testing I decided to jump into IVF at 34yrs old, best thing I ever did. I had my daughter last year and now 20 weeks pregnant with my son. IVF is a hard choice and not for everyone but now I’ll have my 2nd baby before my 36th birthday. Give yourself a timeframe with supplements and do the best u can to stay positive and focused ❤️❤️❤️ wishing you all the best and please keep us updated on ur journey! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I’m so sorry this has been a tough journey. I would have to agree with some of the other subscribers & try clomid as well. I struggled with infertility for 10 years after a blighted ovum & our doctor explained that clomid will increase the number of eggs. I also ovulate but for some reason just never had a successful pregnancy before clomid. I also had a great HSG test that showed no issues. Give it a try. You have nothing to lose but just a few months. Totally worth it. Best of luck!

You are amazing for sharing all of this with all of us. I had my 1st son at 17. To young. He was killed a couple of weeks after his 11th birthday. My heart was distroyed. 8yrs later I remarried and we wanted to try right away. It took a couple of months and we had our 1st daughter. We decided to try again for another baby. We started 7 months after our daughter was born because we are in our late 30s. We were having troubles. A year went past and no baby. I was getting so stressed and upset. My husband and I thought okay we weren't meant to have another. So in my mind I gave up. 6 months later we found out we were having my 2nd son and my husbands 1st son and we were done. God, he has his funny ways. Hubby and I had the 1st night out and we drank a bit and on one crazy night got pregnant and not trying got pregnant with our 2nd daughter. I believe stress is a major factor in trying. Try to as hard as you can to just relax and take easy. I'm a panic stricken person, so I know its very difficult but just try to take moments of your day to try to clear your thoughts and just have some quiet time. Things work out for a reason and just have faith.

First off want to thank you for sharing your fertility journey. It can’t be easy making this public as you go through it. I hesitated on commenting just bc I think everyone has to be mentally prepared for deciding to go through IVF, (and really no one should talk you into it) but I remember my own experience at this decision crossroads you are facing. As a physician (not fertility), I would agree with your fertility specialist’s impression of your labs and their recommendations. To set context, Fertility specialists make so much money I don’t really think most of them need to coax you into doing IVF. (That’s why it takes forever to get an appointment with them.). I also took my time deciding on IVF, trying IUI, a few more months of trying naturally etc. I finally got pregnant after one round of IVf and 1 frozen transfer. I wish I hadn’t taken so long to get here, but mentally I needed the time to accept it. In your case when they tell you not to take longer than 4 months, I would not assume they’re saying that just to make money. They are talking about premature ovarian failure, not just based on your numbers but in the setting of a recent miscarriage, and a year of trying with successful ovulation every month. Ovarian health is not something you can reliably reverse with supplements. If you do IVF and get more embryos you can also secure the possibility of having more children in the future. Just some thoughts for you to consider.

Teresa Meyer telling someone to “relax” when their gut is telling them there is something wrong, is brushing aside and minimizing their feelings. I know you just want her to be happy and comfortable, but that’s not life. Life is uncomfortable and stressful and people need to be heard and supported, not told to relax. I can’t tell you how many times I was told “it will happen” in the 5 years I was actively trying to conceive. It’s like knifes in the heart. After 4 years with a specialist, 2 IUIs, 3 IVF embryo transfers, and 12 years of marriage (never using birth control) I’m finally pregnant. It didn’t just happen. I made it happen.

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been where you’re at and have gone through everything and more! Our insurance didn’t cover IVF but covered everything else but the procedure and transfer so we took out another insurance policy that did have coverage and had two policies. It’s called coordination of benefits. If you get to that point which I hope you don’t... research insurances!

Elizabeth S we spent months researching insurance and ways to pay for treatment so we didn’t go broke in the process. My primary insurance is Michigan and it didn’t cover any of the procedures but we live in IL where insurances in IL cover procedures.. just depending on how many per calendar year. She is young so hopefully it doesn’t have to come to the more involved like IVF or even iui. I’ve been through it all and the way I got through it was by watching you tube videos and talking to friends who gave me the ideas for taking out a second insurance policy. I had my first baby at 36 after years of trying and treatment and now we’re about to start again for baby #2.

Hey, Madison! So sorry to hear you are going through this. I’ve had 3 miscarriages and have been speaking with OBGYN’s, Fertility Doctors, and Acupuncturists that use Chinese Medicine. I’ve heard a lot of different things but I am someone that prefers the more natural routes most of the time. That being said, I’m trying to clean up my diet and eat whole foods, exercise regularly, and get my hormones checked. My acupuncturist told me that 9/10 times, a fertility specialist is going to tell you that IVF is your only option (bs if you ask me b/c like you said it feels like a scam to get more $$). That’s not to say that IVF isn’t the best option for some... Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture have been used for hundreds of years to help with fertility so maybe that’s something you might want to look into. I hope you and Joel get baby #2 soon! XO!

Just wanted leave you a positive note here. I was going through exactly what you were going through... ovulating normally, slightly lower (but not devastating) AMH levels, husband's sperm count was perfect, secondary infertility. We also have a daughter named Riley (!!), who we conceived on our second cycle, who turned 2 in May. We had been trying for 10 months to get pregnant, and finally went to a fertility clinic about 7 months in (approximately last April). When it came to trying treatments, here is what we did: month 1 (May), we tried nothing (except our HSG test). Month 2, we tried a medicated cycle + IUI (letrozole, HCG trigger shot and progesterone suppositories). Month 3 we decided to keep the letrozole and progesterone, but nothing else but have intercourse multiple times around ovulation, and boom, pregnant. For me, I have always suspected it is due to my short luteal phase (it was 9-10 days at MOST), so I'm thinking the progesterone did the trick. I should also mention I am 5 years older than you! My clinic also pushed IVF HARD. They see those dollar signs and they know your emotions are key to going through with it. But for us we just kind of knew it would happen. It just took time. Good luck to you... I hope it all goes well!

Ah, the ol' "70% success rate" IVF quote. I remember hearing something along those lines and feeling so confident in IVF. 3 years and 5 embryo transfers later... we have yet to see a positive pregnancy test. It has been a long journey. We are diagnosed as "unexplained" (no male factor issues, HSG and hysteroscopy clear, bloodwork and hormone levels ideal, ovulate on my own each month, genetic screening normal). Infertility is a complex issue. At your age, with your previous successful pregnancy and hormone levels within normal range - I would trust your OBGYN and get a second opinion from another RE. Diet, exercise, healthy lifestyle, timed intercourse, IUI, etc. There are a lot of paths to success before jumping into IVF. I wish you the best!

I would definitely get a 2nd opinion. As someone who has done IUI and IVF, the specialist’s goal is to get you pregnant, so they pretty much suggest the highest success rate procedure. If I were in your situation, I would get the 2nd opinion and start taking your supplements and give it the 4 months. Also, look into diet changes (I know you already gave up caffeine). I have PCOS and have low egg quality so eating low carb helped and also taking Ovasitol by theralogix.

Go with your gut. We went to one fertility specialist and had a similar feeling of the clinic just wanting to make money. Went to a fertility clinic at an academic medical center and had a totally different experience. They were wonderful. Did tests only when necessary and had a great bedside manner.

When I was 31, I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. I had numerous doctors, including a fertility doctor tell me it would be almost impossible to get pregnant naturally, and I would need to do IVF with a donor egg if I ever wanted to get pregnant. I told all of this to my boss, who is a Urologist and also has experience in hormone therapy, and he said let’s go ahead and get you started on tour hormone therapy to get you out of menopause and I’m confident we can get you pregnant on your own. I was still pretty doubtful because I had been told by so many others that it was a lost cause. Well, after 3 months of hormone therapy, I became pregnant. I’m not 21 weeks along and couldn’t be happier. Don’t get discouraged, if it is meant to happen, it will. Try your different vitamins and give it some time.

My husband and I need a ICSI treatment because I have PCO and my husbands sperm is so bad that an ICSI is our only chance to get pragnent. We’re hoping for the best now. We will start our treatment in August or September because in Germany we have to get a second opinion from another doctor before they can start the treatment so hopefully we will start very soon and we will someday have our little miracle. I wish you and your husband all the best. I know it’s hard and frustrating but you can do this 🌸

Agreed, I had a healthy pregnancy then 3 miscarriages did all the tests everything came back “normal”. I finally had my baby last August now I’m 12 weeks pregnant again. I used progesterone suppositories with my current and last which might of helped who knows. IVF for someone who was just pregnant is very drastic.

This video just reminded me of a video that rawbeautykristi did about pregnancy. It took her 15 years to conceive that she had made up her mind that she would not get pregnant ever and she and her husband were going to be fine. She through a lot meaning she was spending lots of money on treatments that were not helping. At last she got pregnant after 15 years of trying to conceive. She still thinks she’s dreaming because it’s a miracle. I love her honesty and she talks about these kind of videos that no one makes and everyone needs the truth not sugarcoat everything. Go see her videos she’s awesome.

I would consider iui. I have to pay out of pocket for all my meds and appointments and it's so much cheaper then ivf. Atleast try 2 cycles. With the meds it help increase ur egg count it's worth a try.or maybe try one more cycle with the supplements you have been taking and see if that helps. But ur first ivf is so expensive but it gives u a lot more answers too. In the end you gotta pick what works best for you.

I had a hard time getting pregnant with my first child. We tried and tried for years. I finally talked to my O.B., we had my husband tested, he was fine, they wanted to test me. I scheduled my tests, my husband told me to cancel them. He just knew I would get pregnant naturally. This is after 3 years of no success at all. The next month a got my positive test, but it ended a week later in a miscarriage. I was devastated, but also saw a ray a sunshine in the fact I had finally conceived. Seven month after the miscarriage I conceived my daughter who is now 13. When we tried for my next baby it took one period cycle. It’s very strange how things happen. Fast forward to 2018, I was watching your pregnancy reveal video for Ryleigh. I was crying, and I didn’t understand why I was so emotional. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant again, this time I somehow managed to get pregnant with an IUD, plus using condoms. How that equals into a baby I will never understand. Our girls are 6 weeks apart, and I love it. Everything happens for a reason, and I know it’s hard to hear. I went through it for 3 1/2 years before getting to become a mom. It definitely will happen. ❤️❤️

I struggled with fertility for 3 years, I did everything from changing diet to vitamins then a fertility specialist, I did the hcg test and everything seemed to be fine painful but fine, I did 3 rounds of iui and after being overwhelmed and just fed up of always having a negative pregnancy test I finally went for IVF and, after testing and seeing that my egg releases slowly and by the time I'm supposed to be fertile I miss my opportunity. I ended up doing egg retrieval, freezing my eggs and then putting it back in me. I got pregnant and have a healthy baby girl. The injections everyday is overwhelming at times the hormones sometimes stress you out , just breathe thru it and think of the outcome. Good luck and God bless.

Hi Maddy, I have been where you are and by your numbers that you stated I would definitely listen to the reproductive endocrinologist. Obgyns are not trained in fertility as extensively as reproductive specialists so there’s that. I started my fertility journey in 2019. I was 32 at the time. My FSH was 10.2 which is high on the normal range for the fertility practice I went to. My Amh was 2.30 and my follicle count was 27. My husbands tests turned out fine as well so we basically were diagnosed as unexplained infertility. We started with two rounds of timed intercourse that failed. I took 4 months off and then did my first IUI which failed. My second IUI I became pregnant and am now 31 weeks. After I deliver this baby I will be going back to my fertility doctor sometime next year to get new tests done to see what my levels are due to me being 34 turning 35 next year. Your fertility doctor is not sales pitching you as the numbers tell a story and do not lie. Please stay encouraged on your journey and like my fertility doctor told me “Your infertility journey is a marathon and not a sprint.” That helped me soo much when I received so many months of negative pregnancy tests. I believe you will get pregnant but you have to trust that these people know what they’re doing. Blessings to you and your family.

Madison! I wish you the best! I think everything will work out amazing and I have full confidence you will be able to have another baby!! My mom had my oldest sister perfectly normally and got pregnant first try. Once my sister was a little older, she wanted to give her a sibling. She needed up having two miscarriages. After that, she conceived my sister and gave birth to her!! My parents then decided to have a third baby and my mom once again had another miscarriage. My mom decided to get an IUI and had my other sister. After that, my parents wanted more kids and ended up having me, my younger sister and my younger brother! She had no more miscarriages with the youngest 3 and we were all conceived first try! I am praying for you!!! Love you!!! 😘

I could relate to you so much in this video! I lost my right ovary and Fallopian tube due to an abnormal ovarian cyst. Now flash forward to 2019 when my husband and I decided to start a family. Over a year went by of TTC and nothing was happening. I went to my doctor and we ran several tests. Turns out I have a low ovarian reserve (for my age 28) but that wasn’t te worst part. I found out I had two abnormal cysts on my left ovary again. I was devastated. so now I’ll be doing 2 rounds of IVF. Which includes 2 egg retrieval’s (praying for healthy embryos), then surgery to remove my cysts (praying to keep my ovary) and after that we can proceed with the transfer of our embryos! I’m praying for you and your journey for baby #2 🙏🏻💕

Also my AMH was .9 and I also only have 9 follicles as well. Even if I didn’t have my cysts to worry about we still would have done IVF. but I think you should keep trying before starting IVF or at least get another opinion.

I would recommend getting a second opinion. I feel like it might be something that can be fixed, without IVF. It seems pretty drastic to just jump into IVF, without trying anything else first.

Remember reproductive endocrinologist specialize in this so they are hyper focused on slight differences in numbers that your ob/gyn might just brush off because it might actually still be in “normal range” but not where it is needed for your body chemistry. They are both right! You did get pregnant and that’s a good sign that your body is capable of getting pregnant! So feel confident supplementing and trying with correct timing in mind for a few more months and then reconvening and deciding what to do if it doesn’t work (I hope it does!). Also remember it takes like 3 months for supplements to really kick in (egg maturity is about 90 days). Not an expert or anything but an infertility veteran with unfortunately 8 IVF cycles under my belt. I don’t think IVF is necessary at the moment or IUI. But in the end do what feels right for YOU and stay positive because infertility is a giant mind f$&k!! Haha
