rubber boots, rain boots or old school grandparents called them Gollashes. That's what we say here in Canada.
@lwest5686
@lwest5686 2 года назад
Central Canada here - most often rain boots but agree we may also call them rubber boots whether rubber or not but never Wellies. I always thought galoshes were plastic or rubber covers for shoes or boots. My dad wore the rubber slip on ones that just went around the base of his good shoes but my galoshes were plastic covers that went over the full shoe or boot.

*- American here in Michigan.* Yes we say _rainboots, but not often, b/c we're not as particular about what kind of footwear is worn during rain. Some might say rubber boots, as that is the material used - sort of. It's synthetic, but no one bothers about saying that. I suspect if anyone has a _proper way to call them, it would be New Englanders" who are the only ones practical enough to have entryways called _Mud Rooms_ designed to accommodate boots, shoes, coats, umbrellas and any gear that might be wet or muddy. I think you'd love it.

Y'all are too funny! You know even though I grew up in Texas we always called the boots "galoshes". But as an adult I've adopted the "wellies." It's just fun to say, and my father's family came from England, so I feel entitled. 😁

After a lifetime of Hunter boots around the barns, forest and (God forbid) town in the rainy season, I have switched to Chameaus ! I love their softness and durability .A pair of Hunter boots used to last 3-5 years, in the last few years when they started cracking half way through mid summers ,season after season. These failures doubled my boot budget. .I ditched Hunter for good For Chameaus. So far ,so good ,my cloudy day blue Chameau talls have lasted three years !

As a New Yorker who lives in the countryside I can say that some people including myself do wear wellington boots or wellies. Most Americans call them rain boots, muck boots or galoshes. I call them wellington boots or wellies but I embrace my British heritage so I'm not typical of an American. So, yes, some of us do wear wellies here in the USA. They are quite popular for hunting and countryside walks. I have a black pair that I wear with jeans.

American person - I say rain boots, when it's absolutely necessary to distinguish them from other types of boots. Usually, I just say boots. I don't have a special pair of rubber boots just for rain, and neither do most other people I know. Maybe because the climate here is less rainy than the U.K.? Here, it's more common for kids to have special rain boots, since kids like to jump in puddles a lot.

Here in New England we definitely call them rain boots. Or just boots, as in if it's raining or muddy you put your boots on. If they're expensive rain boots, manufacturers will call the Wellingtons.

We used to have hippies jumping our fence to get into the pasture for the "funny" mushrooms - with the herd bull standing there!!! Luckily no one ever got hurt. I had to holler down to them that he was there. I don't think they understood the threat.

As a child in 1976 to 1978, my dad who was in the U.S. Air Force was stationed at RAF Woodbridge as a helicopter mechanic. We lived in leased housing in Melton. Our next door neighbor was the first British person we actually got to know well - and she was the first person that I ever heard the name Wellington boots from. Before that, we always had referred to them as rain boots...

I cook my mushrooms in one sick of butter and a little EVOO. I also put garlic and pepper on them. I'm Italian so I garlic almost everything. The other thing I like to do with my mushrooms is mix them with potatoes that are fry and if I have any green or red peppers I put them in also I also like to put a little onion in them. This comes out to be a really hurting meal. Something quick and easy and something I learned to do for leftovers. But even still I did forget to tell you that when I cook just the mushrooms I also add in a little onion just for flavoring not a lot.

Also, several varieties of mushrooms grow in our yard. I pick them by the bagful so the old dog doesn't eat them. She eats them and then vomits so I think they aren't meant to be eaten. . I literally picked a huge bag (plastic grocery sack) full one day and they were that many more a few days later. They are all kinds of shapes and colors. I need that identifying app.
