I can't wait to share this comment with him! And the other comments about not seeing the horses---my husband missed them too. One day I will ride a scooter. . .
Best video ive seen on RU-vid so creative Youre hubby should be so proud of you , he should let you get a scooter with sidecar for scooter and you and him , and do a updated version
This video is fun, Vespas are fun, Lambrettas are fun too, scooters are fun full stop, the scootering way of life is fun, I hope you get that Vespa and really enjoy yourself having fun!
Another idea (husband for Vespa) to think about. . . About the horses--- There really are horses! However, if one only has eyes for long (really long) legs, then one will often miss the horses in the background of life! (My husband missed the horses too!)
I know someone who bought a Bella off of ebay. They are fixing it up and they love it. I think the are beautiful too---especially if it was burganday! I will check into Scoot! Quarterly---thanks.
Excellent vid. I was without a scooter for a few years, and it felt like i had lost my legs. Once you get bitten by the Vespa bug,it stays for life. Tell your hubby, you are your own person, not an extention of him. If you want one,and can afford one, THEN GO BUY ONE. If he leaves never mind, you meet some nice people on scooter rallies anyway.
I had a 1968 Vespa 150cc and I sold it because I was sick of pushing it! I spend thousands on it and it was still crapping out. It had been done up in Vietnam, Viet-style (wires in drinking straws and other such nice suprises). I got fit pushing that thing. Now I got a Honda Joker 90cc. Goes great, looks great. Just a shame about the plastic. And I know... It ain't a Vespa.
Cougargrad, in the politest of senses, sod your husband and go for it... Best decision you'll ever make. Fast, easy, cheap, quick, great for avoiding traffic, and the folks at the clubs are great, too. Don't lets forget the style aspect as well... Besides, put the other half on yours and I'm pretty sure he'll forget all his worries and go get himself one! By the way, my '73 50 Special is called Gino.
O.o ohhh Ducati is a nice machine.. goes fast too.. :) Thats funny though.lol I cant quit laughing over that.. sounds like something I would hear from my wife.. ;)
Begging for money for a Vespa? A good cause indeed!!! I saw your "Orange "Bomber"----she is beautiful! I'm not sure you should have sold the other Vespa to get a BMW. You probably should have opened a paypal account---I would have donated to your "Help me keep my Vespa" cause!! Thanks for the link, I really enjoyed your pictures!
Great advice. One of my friends got a scooter from China and loves it. Though I think he is trying it out and will be getting a Vespa in a year or so. . .
I say get one. Why work for 1/3 of your life if you don't get what you want? I bought my first scoot 3 years ago. A Vespa P series ( it's what the stellas were modeled after ) His nickname is Grampa. It's a great bike, and you should talk to your husband about getting one. Even if you get a vespa, and then decide not to ( not sure how. )The resale value is amazing. I worked for a vespa shop for 2 years until they sold.
It is painfull wanting a scooter.BUT once you get one,you end up with a garage full. Cant fault anybody for buying one.classic styling, good economy, and if serviced would last a lifetime. Ride safe my friends from FORKBENDER S.C SHEFIELD.
I had a 1956 Bella R201, it was beautiful, burgandy paint, electric start, 12" wheels. You should be different, You should get a Bella or a Heinkel or a Harley Topper and subscribe to Scoot! Quarterly - good reading and great pictures.
I usually get my way. He's just very worried that I might get hurt. Of course I could get hurt just crossing the road. Maybe I will just have to put my foot down!!
Ahh Seattle just north of me about 3 hours.. lol. Seattle would be a good town to buzz around in a scooter.. Driving my van up there was a nightmare. So I just parked it at the motel and walked everywhere. Some nice marine museums and such up there. your husband is fond of you, cant fault him for that. However I would say he should get scooter educated. I should talk I "make" my wife drive a full size(not mini)Van. Of course she wont approve of me getting another motorcycle either. lol
Go have fun! I drive mine in Chicago in the winter... cold enough to make you cry! Tell your husband you wanted to save some money on gas. weak I know. Worth a try!
i have two lambretts and a vespa , i love them all , but if someone broke in to my garage , i hope they would take the vespa and not the lambretts lol ,,, nuff said
I should do that. We now have another corgi, his name is Teddy. I could take both of them and the hubby could stay home! OR I could take him----I guess. Still---I need a VESPA!
@oystersfearme Yep.. the drug of having a lot of money left after buying my scoot... It's funny cause we had a nice ride today, and it was ME on my cheap chinese scoot that had to get a Vespa running. Had to swap my battery into his scoot, He is on his 4th battery due to some electrical problem the dealer cant find.
Trouble is with a lambretta you'll end up spending a fortune to keep it on the road because they break down every 50 miles lol. Vespa are far more reliable and better looking..sound better too!! ;-)
Just kiddin with ya .....kinda lol! Thanks for the compliment on my age..being a scooterist from th eearly 80's uk revival thats very nice of you! Love both lammy's and vespa, but not so keen on any twist and go..not really scoots to me! Liked your rally vid btw some real nice machines there..
Oh dear!! I have a friend that is quite adamant about that, too! I liked the black one with the sidecar! Have you looked at Baja Cheetaks? I have oodles of pics of scoots ... email me, and we can coordinate my sending them all!
Better yet---I'll get a scooter and you guys can come out here for a longer vist! On the way you can show my Crimson loving cousin Washington State University! You know she would love it!
Horses?... Other observations (or lackings thereof): --That was a swell video. --Zündapp Bellas are superb. Go ahead and get your Vespa...THEN get a Bella. I know what you'll be riding more...
Getting old does suck. A Vespa would help though! Thanks for the comment----thanks to all of you. I am still working on my husband who loves me dearly.
Buy a newer, used PX150 or an older P200 and you'll be onto a good start. The Indian LML vespa clones are ok (sold as the Stella in the USA) but you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a real Italian one. Just make sure it was originally imported into the USA and whatever you do stay well away from any Vietnam "restorations". You will need a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license to ride anything over 50cc. Take a motorcycle saftey course and save yourself some hard knocks.
He told me yesterday I could get a scooter if he could get a Ducati. I told him we could save a lot of money and get two scooter. Then I would buy a Ducati sticker and put it on his scooter. I don't think he liked my plan. . .
@locolizard38 I am thinking I gave a lot more in the bank after my purchase than you do. I have had decent experiences with mine. Lots of good miles, and no serious issues. And I payed very little money. Sounds like a good deal to me.. unlike spending $4K+ on a high end scoot, that does nothing that mine doesnt do... If your too worried about a Chinese brand then get a Genuine Buddy 125/150 they are about in the middle price wise, and made in Taiwan.
I have 2 my 2006 Dual Sport and Wildfire 150 scoot. No major problems with either, paid $900 for the Motorcycle, and $500 for the scoot new in a crate. There ARE good machines from China. It depends on the plant it was made in and the quality control. A scoot will look exactly the same but one will be shit the other decent. Maybe I have just been lucky but both were purchased from a wholesaler I trust BTW the Genuine brand IS really good. Why would I need a shop to fix a scooter ?
tell hubby that i was in the exact same situation with my wife when she wanted a vespa,my biggest worry was the wanker car drivers, not my wifes abillity to ride,my wife ended up getting a PX200E great little bike,i rode it alot too,and i did have a honda hornet,it was fun to ride the Vespa, she did sell it after a couple of years i do miss it,she went on to a Kawasaki ER500,then she lost the passion and she just drives a car now,SAD HEY?/ good luck,:o)
First have you ever ridden a 2 wheeled vehicle before, if not take the MSF class in your state. Next I might suggest you get a cheap Chinese scooter first, to see if you really use the thing, many get bought and then sit in the garage unused. You can pick up a China scoot for as little as $800 new. Yeah its not a Vespa, but it will get you into the scooter lifestyle... or you will find that it too sits in the garage. You may find you want more power/speed etc and move into motorcycles anyway
What a great Video! OK, you MUST get your Vespa! Start a website, I'll donate a few paypal dolarines to the cause! Check out my scoots on flickr, search for digitaldion... You'll see my two orange bombers!
You knew it was 4:23 long before you clicked on it. Or at least you should have seen the length of the video. I am wondering why someone who does not like Vespas (death machines) would waste their time (4:23) watching a video about Vespas. Compared to some of the Worst Videos Ever---mine is far from cheesy!
why dont you satisfy your need with a quality chinese knock off? I bought a tahiti 150. it looks just like a retro vespa, but its all brand new and a lot less expensive. but if you really want the brand names, you should talk to your local scooter club. Im sure they would dig your enthusiasm and help you get one
I say yes. but then I am not your husband. Why do you have to ask your husband can't you think for yourself ... or is he paying for it? My wife does what she thinks is right for her. She tells me afterwards so do I.
Puggs your truck is a cover for you tiny genitals, I driven my scooters since I was a brat and am not dead yet. Plus I look cooler than a Polar bear in an italian suit. Lambretta- because 10 inches is enough for anyone.
Well If I were your husband I would say yes but then I would never a women who thought she had to ask permission to do something like a scooter in the first place, I'm attracted to independent women that if they want to sky dive they go they don't ask permission they just go. they post corny questions on u-tube but then why am I reading this good day.
If i was your husband i would say"yes of coarse you can have a Vespa"! I'd want you looking cool and that's the solution. Nothing cooler than a scooter. Threaten him with divorce and that you'll be taking that cute little dog with you. HAHAHAHA only joking!!
get a lambretta , it goes up in value , so if you get fed up with it you make a profit ,,never buy chinese cheap crap , no style , , dont buy a bike , people that ride them smell lol ,, wotever ride safe , from the uk england
