Professor Slughorn used to be Head of Slytherin house before Snape. Despite being a Slytherin, Slughorn doesn't share the same believes. He doesn't care about blood status, but pure magic talent. The fact that Lily Potter was his favorite student is a proof of that. The thing about him is that, despite not having big aspirations himself, he loves being surrounded by the most talent and influencial wizards and witches (something that his parents always told him to do). Being him a professor, he taught many of those that later became famous figures in the wizarding world and kept contact with them and would organize many gatherings and parties. If there's one thing that is well-known is that, if you get Slughorn's interest, then you're set for life, as the professor would invite his favorite students to his gatherings and parties, where he would introduce them to his former students, what would eventually help the young ones in their future carreers once they finished Hogwarts. What Dumbledore meant by "collecting" is that Slughorn normally helps some of those talent students in their respective carreers and later takes advantage of that (like getting free Quidditch tickets, gifts...). Basically, it's like Slughorn is polishing a jewel to puts it into display... with that one being his shelf full of photographs of his former students that became influent people.

Ginny is great in the films. Of course she gets a ton more development in the novels, everyone and everything does, because it's simply impossible to fit everything into a two-and-a-half hour movie, but she is still lovely in the films and Bonnie Wright does a fantastic job playing her.

There is an additional layer to Voldemort choosing Harry over Neville. Magic in HP seems at least partially genetic. Voldemort's followers are blood purists, they believe that wizards should not mix with muggles as it weakens the magic of the bloodline. (Draco Malfoy throws around "mudblood" as an insult at people who are muggle-born.) Neville's family are pure wizards, while Harry is half-blood on her mother's side (both of Lily Potter's parents are muggles). Yet Voldemort chose the half-blood as his enemy; and this is because secretly Voldemort himself is half-blood (could be where his hatred for muggles come from: the muggle father who abandoned him.) He clearly saw himself in Harry, and considered him a bigger threat. Also Snape himself is half-blood and his mother's name is Eileen Prince; that's why the kids in school nicknamed him "half-blood prince".
@davebirch1976
@davebirch1976 Год назад
I suppose he'd also feel less guilty about killing a half blood than a pure blood.
@rafaelmatos5851
@rafaelmatos5851 Год назад
Snape's nickname as the "half-blood prince" was not given to him by the other students. He gave himself that nickname. And it was not a nickname, but rather a title. Snape hated his father, so he decided to do the same thing Voldemort did. Snape's mother's maiden name was Prince and Snape was half-blood, so he decided to call himself the Half-Blood Prince. In fact, in the book, Hermione firstly suspected that Snape's mother was the Half-Blood Prince precisely because she thought Prince could be refering to a last name instead of an actual nickname.

The newspaper wasn't referring to Draco's wife and son. It was referring to the fact that Lucius Malfoy went to Azkaban and the picture was of Lucius's wife and son (Narcissa and Draco). The memory said Voldemort split his soul into 7, which means there are 6 Horcruxes plus the piece of soul still in his body. They already destroyed two Horcruxes - the diary and the ring - which means there are 4 more that they have to find and destroy before going after Voldemort himself.
@nod_jawk

The fact that "dividing the soul into 7 parts" means that there are not 7 but 6 horcruxes - as Tom Riddle/Voldemort himself was the remaining 7th piece - was important to clarify, and when I watched this video (a few minutes ago) I hoped someone would have explained that at the time this video was published, to help this lovely couple understand it before they would watch the next movie. I still couldn't believe Dumbledore was dead for good. I was waiting for some sort of capacity of his phenix (the bird that can REVIVE himself) to resurrect Dumbledore, and I waited for that during almost all the next movie. I was certain that if the phenix was there, it was for a good reason, as the author always prepared her twists and turns a lot. Maybe she had planned something like that and then found that finally it was better that Dumbledore wouldn't be there around the end, making it more dramatic and epic (as he would have been too helpful) for the Golden Trio to be on their own?

One thing i wish they kept in the movie from the book was a B plot where Snape is trying to get Harry to surrender the Half Blood Prince textbook as he suspect harry having the book cause Slughorn kept praising Harry being so good at Potions and he knows full well Harry's actual capability from teaching him for five years, though Harry doesn't know why Snape is so interested in his textbook but gives Snape a normal version of the book which did not impress Snape. In fact, a lot of the hints that Snape was the Half Blood Prince were not done in the movie like the reveal that his mother's maiden name is Prince and she was a muggle i think making him half blood. I think Hermione had this whole B plot with trying to free the elves that work for Hogwarts but none of them took her seriously as they love working for Hogwarts also that was remove to not make the movie any longer. There were way more memories of Voldemort that we never get to see in the movie that gives you more in depth look of Voldemorts life and origins of his birth like his mother and father (who was drugged into falling in love with his mother) and his grandparents etc.

Actually Snape's father was a muggle. His mother was a pure blood witch. Like someone else said, the whole part with Bellatrix and Greyback at the Weasleys’ at Christmas was not in the book. The house never burned down. Stupid scene that I think they only added to give Bellatrix more screen time. The movies changed Ginny so much. She was raised with six brothers so was a bit of a daredevil and spoke her mind. There was so much more to her. She totally had a crush on Harry from the beginning but decided to see other guys since he didn’t see her that way at first. Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was a year-old toddler, Cedric at the hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying by falling into the Veil in the Ministry of Magic. Also, for some convoluded reason, they ommited an explanation of what a bezoar is in the movies: Bezoars are stones taken from the stomachs of goats that are used to cure most poisons. And I definitely felt like Hermione when Lavender was cuddled up to Ron. (When she said "excuse me, I have to go and vomit.")

Yeah, Ginny played the long game with Harry. Initially, she couldn't talk normally with him, but then Hermione gave her the best advice ever. She told her to start acting like herself around Harry, to try to be his friend instead, all while starting to date other boys. This advice was considered to be a win-win: either Ginny would be able to move on with her feelings for Harry or it would give her the confidence she needed to pursue Harry romantically later on. Not to mention it also had the chance for Harry to see her for who she was and possibly fall in love with her.

Details that need very close attention; it's not easy! Slughorn, who SAID he was hiding out FROM the Death Eaters, showed Harry his photos of former, now famous, students. I think he even said he had Sirius' brother "but would have liked the set," as if collecting cards. (Sirius was the only Gryffindor of a family of Slytherins.) And you didn't understand that Snape is a double agent. Bellatrix and Narcissa would never have visited Snape if he weren't trusted by Voldemort. Pettigrew would never be there if Voldemort hadn't ordered it. Narcissa wanted protection for Draco because Voldemort could kill anyone who fails him, even Death Eaters.

This is one of my favourite Harry Potter movies! Although it's probably the least loyal to the book too. I say this because there's a very important thing they didn't show at all in the movies and it's Voldemort's family history. Voldemort comes from a very disfunctional family. His mom was Mérope Gaunt, a witch constantly bullied by her family members as she showed to not have almost no magical powers, something that was a disgrace to her family, because let's remember that they were Salazar Slytherin's only heirs. In general the Gaunts were very violent and lived very isolated from the rest of the magical world. Merope kinda found refuge on her crush: a muggle handsome rich man that was living near her. However, her happiness would be ephemeral because that man, called Tom Riddle (yes, just like Voldemort) rejected her because she was too ugly (one of the reasons being the Gaunts intermarrying each other because they were obssesed with the purity of blood). Merope decided to use a love potion with him and after a crazy night Voldemort was formed. Tom Riddle Sr. rejected Merope's son. Merope gave birth to Voldemort and she died during the process (that's why little Voldemort was in an orphanage). Many years later, after Voldemort found out about Horcruxes he went to his father's house and killed him and used that to create the horcrux putting his first part of soul in the ring Dumbledore wears in the movie. I don't remember if this is mentioned by I think Voldemort also killed his dad because of what he did to his mother and because he was a muggle. Leaving this aside I also want to make two clarifications from the movie: - Draco was chosen for the task as a form of punishment for Lucius since he broke the prophecy when Sirius punched him. Voldemort knew it was an impossible task so he would have no scruples to punish Lucius by killing his son. - Dumbledore tells Harry to get "collected" by Slughorn because Slughorn is obssesed with brilliant students (or students with status). Harry was in his "club" because he was the chosen one. Hermione was too because she was very intelligent. Lilly (Harry's mom) was also in his club for the same reason as Hermione. Ginny was too, which is funny considering Slughorn wouldn't remember Ron's surname but had no issues remembering that Ginny's surname was Weasley. Oh! And Fenrir Greyback, the man you said you recognised from the poster during the attack in Weasley's house, is actually a werewolf, and he was the one who converted Remus Lupin when he was just a child.

I hoped that they would stick to the book as much as possible given all the info we get on both Snape & Voldemort. I liked the movie, but I was really disappointed that they completely ignored the entire backstory of Voldemort's parents & didn't bother to explain WHY Snape is the Half Blood Prince. Those were the two most important & interesting plots of the book - WTH? Well, just remember that not all is as it seems to be on the surface. In regards to the prophesy, Voldemort didn't mark Harry because he heard Harry's name first. It has to do with the fact that Voledmort's views on half-bloods & muggle born caused him to choose Harry over Neville. Voldemort prized "blood status" & since Neville's parents' were "pure bloods" he didn't want to spill & waste magical blood. So instead he sent Bellatrix & two others to interrogate Neville's parents by using the Cruciatus Curse until it drove them insane. He figured that since Lily was muggle born (& had fought him before) that her son would be the one that the prophesy referred to. Voldemort chose Harry as his target, who was, like himself, a half-blood, rather than the pure-blooded Neville. Voldemort chose Harry as he believed Harry was the most danger to him. But it could have easily gone the other way & Neville would've been "the chosen one". Lily Potter was the only witch in her family, so that made her a "muggle born" exactly like Hermione, who is the brightest witch of her generation.

This is a real conflict for me. It is probably my second favorite movie of the Potter series, but the left out several great scenes. 1. The back story of Voldemort and the ring (wich has backstory on his sister, his father, his Uncle, hid great uncle and others) 2. The ongoing mystery of who the half blood Prince is and why he is called the half blood Prince and 3. Probably my favorite bit of all the books, when Dumbledoor meets the Durlseys. In addition to why Harry has to keep comming back and why they keep taking him back, they set up for Dudleys reduction arc (that was somewhat filmed for Deadly Holloes 1. It had to be cut, It's hard to see why Dudleys hugging Harry and standing up to Patuna all of a sudden. And for those who are yelling SPOILER, I'm 8 months late to the party. I'm sure they have seen the next film). Also, if I recall correctly in the books Voltimore threatens to kill Draco's father if he doesn't complete the task. Which gives Drako a little bit more sympathy.

One thing that confuses those that only watch the movies is the number of Horcruxes. Tom Riddle asked Slughorn about splitting his SOUL into seven pieces, which means he set out to create SIX Horcruxes while the seventh piece of his tattered soul remained in his body. When his body was destroyed after his failed attack on baby Harry the piece of soul that was in it fled to the forests of Albania where Quirrell encountered it before the events of the first book. Dumbledore explained it to Harry in chapter 23 “Horcruxes” of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. “He made seven Horcruxes?” said Harry, horror-struck… “…no, Harry, not seven Horcruxes: six. The seventh part of his soul, however maimed, resides inside his regenerated body. That was the part of him that lived a spectral existence for so many years during his exile; without that, he has no self at all. That seventh piece of soul will be the last that anybody wishing to kill Voldemort must attack - the piece that lives in his body,”

The Half Blood Prince title comes from something that Snape called himself while in school. His mothers maiden name was Eileen Prince and she was a Muggle.and his dad was a wizard = Half Blood Prince. And yes, there are 7 Horcruxes to find. Tom Riddle’s diary was one, the ring dumbledore destroyed ( which blackened/burned his hand) was another, so that’s 2/7 down! They had the lead on the locket as the third, but it was a fake and R.A. B. took the real one.

Deathly Hallows is the last book. they couldn’t fit everything from that last book into one movie, so they split it and made it into two. I actually read the books before I saw the movie, because the movies didn’t exist at the time. But when I read about Dumbledore‘s death in book number six, I was so shocked. There was a rumor that in the sixth book someone would die and I kept thinking who could it be, who could it be? And I my thought was anybody, but Dumbledore, and look what happened. There’s so much more to learn in the next two movies. Hang in there I think you’re gonna love it.

Not sure how exactly the whole blood system works but from what I read is that Harry is Half Blood since if both of your parents are magical and one of them is a muggle or muggle-born, then that parent isn't really "pure" enough for the kid to be pure. Yes there are 7 horcruxes but only 4 are known as of this movie: Tom Riddle's diary, Marvolo Gaunt's Ring (Voldemort's grandfather), Salazar Slytherin's locket, and the soul within Voldemort as the 4th.
@Kolious_Thrace
@Kolious_Thrace Год назад
Correct! To be considered “Pure-blood” your bloodline had to be pure! Generations and generations of great-grandparents of wizards. Marrying to a muggle-born or half-blood could break your pure-blood line and make you a half-blood. The racists pure-bloods we see in the films (and books of course) were witches and wizards that they remained pure-bloods for centuries! How’s that possible? Intermarriage!!! Yes, a lot of pure-blood finalise like the Blacks used to marry their cousins to keep their bloodline pure!
@rafaelmatos5851
@rafaelmatos5851 Год назад
Half-bloods are called like that because they have Muggle ancestry. That's why the children of muggle-borns with a pure-blood are called half-bloods. If a half-blood marries a pure-blood, then their children will be considered a half-blood as well. It has been a very popular belief in many pure-blood families that having Muggle blood would contaminate their bloodline and generate squibs. That of course is just rubbish, because the very existance of muggle-borns proves that is wrong, as muggle-borns most likely have wizarding ancestry, possibly through squibs that had abandoned the wizarding world to live with the Muggles. However, pure-blood fanatics justify the existence of muggle-borns by saying they stole magic from another wizard, despite the clear fact that magic cannot be stolen.

You know, it's too bad that, in the movie, we were cut short of the memories that Dumbledore gives to Harry to see. In the movie, we saw how Dumbledore met Tom Riddle and the latter's conversation with Slughorn. But actually Dumbledore showed much more memories to Harry, explaining Tom Riddle's life. Like... the first memory was actually about Tom's maternal side of the family (the wizard one), where we met his mother, uncle and grandfather. In that memory, we got to know Voldemort's mother was mistreated by her father and brother and that she used magic to make Tom Riddle Sr. (Voldemort's father) to fall in love with her. The fact she used magic to force him to fall in love with her and then have a child together is partly the reason why Voldemort is the way he is. After Voldermort's mom lifted the magic that was keeping Tom Riddle Sr. in love with her, she hoped he would stay with her after knowing she was pregnant, but he left her, leaving her in extreme poverty and depression, ending up dying and leave her child in the orphanage. The chid, by consequence of the nature of his conception, was incapable of feeling or understand love.

The movie cuts Riddle's story short. But here it is. There were 3 people left from the Gaunt family (descended from Salazar Slytherin). Merope (daughter), Marvolo (father), and Morfin (son). They were from a very ancient and proud house, but over the generations due to inbreeding had become insane and impoverished. This locket (the one that was faked at the end of Half-Blood Prince) was the only thing of value they still had. Merope was not a very powerful witch, and not beautiful, but she loved the local squire Tom Riddle. I can't remember all the details, and may not have this exactly right. But Morfin ended up in Azkaban for terrorizing muggles at one point, and both he and his dad went there for attacking Tom Riddle due to Merope being in love with him (he was a muggle after all). Without them abusing and terrorizing her, she was able to pull together the talent to make a love potion and ran away with Tom Riddle for about a year after she got him to take it. She became pregnant. Nobody is sure exactly why, but she stopped giving Tom the potion at that point. He left her when it wore off and went back to his parents. So Merope was pregnant and on her own. I believe she sold the locket and then died giving birth to her son, whom she named after his father and grandfather, Tom Marvolo Riddle. Tom Jr. would grow up to kill his uncle and grandfather when he was a teenager as well as his father and his father's family. The second part happened at the home you saw at the start of Goblet of Fire. That was the old Riddle house. The caretaker who got killed at the start of Goblet of Fire was the RIddle caretaker. He was accused of their murders and at the point that you saw him, had just finished a lengthy prison sentence and gone back to the Riddle home. Going back, Tom Jr. did well in school and ended up working as a clerk at Burgan and Burkes (where Harry ended up 2nd year in the floor powder accident, and where Draco found the vanishing cabinet 6th year). This was a surprise to many as Tom was so talented and ambitious. A job as a store clerk seemed beneath him. But it put him in the way of some interesting ancient artifacts and gave him time to build a following and develop his powers. He also tried for a job as the defense against dark arts teacher at Hogwarts, but Dumbledore denied him. Tom then cursed the position so that nobody could hold it for more than a year. And nobody ever did up until this point in the story.

As others mentioned I'm sure, there was a reason the book was titled Half Blood Prince. Snape's backstory is important. The 1st glimpses we saw were when he was training Harry to block Voldemort from his mind, but why he called himself that nickname was an even darker part of his childhood. His mother Eileen Prince was a witch who fell in love with a muggle. She kept her powers secret until eventually her husband found out. He was already a bad husband, drinker, verbally abusive, & when he found out her secret it drove him mad with jealousy & anger. Eventually he abandoned his wife & son. This partly parallels Voldemort, who glosses over the fact that his father was a muggle too. But his mother used magic to make him reciprocate her feelings & once she was pregnant she made the mistake of thinking there had been enough time for him to truly know her & love her, & that he wouldn't abandon her & the baby. She let the love potion wear off, he realised she had done something to him because he never loved her. He abandoned her & went back to his muggle life & family. In her depression & with her limited magic skills she wasn't finding much way to make money. She gave up on life, collapsed on the orphanage steps where she told the woman in charge that her son was to be named after his father, gave the name (& the impression the dad was dead too I guess, so they didn't try to find him & give him the baby) & died right after birth. Voldemort & Snape both hated their muggle fathers, but truly Tom Sr was totally a victim while Snape's dad was an abusive ahole.

Technically, there are six Horcruxes. In Slughorn's memory, Tom Riddle had an interest in dividing his soul into seven pieces, as the number seven is considered to be the most powerful number. By having seven pieces, he would have six Horcruxes (as the seventh part of his soul would be in his body). In the book, Dumbledore is able to give Harry a clear image of the possible Horcruxes, thanks to the memories he collected and through some theories. In the movie, you get to know the diary was one, along with that ring and the necklace. Both the ring and the necklace (the real one), used to belong to Voldemort's maternal family, with the ring belonging to his grandfather and the necklace belonging to his mother and originally to Salazar Slytherin. In book 6, we get to know what the rest of the Horcruxes are, but I won't tell anything to not spoil the next two movies.

@Kolious_Thrace
@Kolious_Thrace Год назад
The journey comes to the end… can’t wait to see you watching it! Well, the half-blood prince might be my favourite book but the film wasn’t that great! They didn’t make it Justice to the book! I’m the book we read sooo much, it was such a mystery. Plus, the students had to study for their next very important exams called N.E.W.T.s Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests. They studied really hard for that and Hermione helped them a lot as always. Harry had some important time only with Hinny that year and not with other girls… Also, in the film they spent hours for silly loving stories like this of Ron’s and Lavender’s… and we missed other things! Let’s start explain that yes, Harry was a half-blood! To be pure-blood was enough only your parents being magical. You had to have generations or pure-blood ancestry! The Potters were a pure-blood family but Lily was a muggle-born! At the beginning of this book we had a nice conversation/explanation of what was happening between the muggle and the wizarding world. From the muggle world only the current Prime Minister knew the existence of the wizard-kind! Since his/her election, people from the Ministry erased the meteorites of the former Prime Minister and the Minister of Magic was paying a visit to the knew Prime Minister informing him/her of their existence and the need to keep it secret and that they didn’t want to harm them in any way! Dumbledore was around 115 years old when he died! He was quite old! After the events at the Ministry, Lucius was imprisoned and Narcissa and Draco were in a very difficult position. But, they managed to convince the Court that Lucius was under the magical influence of Voldemort and he didn’t want to do all that… so, he was free. But Voldemort was very disappointed from him! He didn’t trust led him anymore for important missions and he asked from Draco that task to punish Lucius and Narcissa, knowing that Draco couldn’t succeed and could be in danger! He said that after Lucius failure to bring the prophecy orb to him, Draco had a serious task, to kill Dumbledore! If Draco failed his would kill him! His parents knew that this was impossible and their fears of Draco being killed was Voldemort’s punished to Lucius for his failure to the ministry! That scene with Snape and the Black Sister, Bellatrix and Narcissa was sooo great in the books! First, Narcissa made the questions to Snape, not Bellatrix. After the first time Snape said yes, the bond around their hands took the form of a fiery rope, at his second yes response, the bond became a fiery chain and finally at his third yes response the bond became a snake biting his own tail! Slughorn’s “collection” of students wasn’t like Voldemort’s Death-Eaters. Slughorn was taking pride for being the professor of important members of the Magical Community! On his shelf there were ministers, famous wizards that invented important magical objects, the publisher of the “Daily Prophet”, famous quidditch players… etc Famous celebrities! Collection them was like I known them, all these important people were my students and now are my friends! Dumbledore told Harry to let Slughorn to “collect” him and come close to him so in a friendly way persuade him to give him the true, mom tampered memory! Actually the butterbeer in a real recipe from medieval England. You can try it at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter parks around the world. They make a non-alcoholic version! Drinkable for children. Luna always supported her House, Ravenclaw in quidditch matches wearing an Eagle Hat! Only when Ravenclaw didn’t payed, she supported the team playing against Slytherin! During matches Gryffindor Vs Slytherin she was wearing a lion-hat eating a snake! Yes, Nymphadora was married to Lupin and they also had a child later. That man with Bellatrix attacking the Weasleys was Fenrir Greyback. He was a werewolf and it was him who attacked Remus Lupin and “infected” him with the “Lycanthropy virus” making him a werewolf!!! Now, why I’ve said that this film showed us so many unnecessary things and not focusing on the important ones! Dumbledore showed to Harry seven memories about Tom Riddle, in the film we saw… 2?! I think… We saw how Tom Riddle killed his biological father and framed a member of his mother’s side. Then, went to his mother’s house to see her being abused by her father which he also killed. We saw the memory of Dumbledore first meeting him at the orphanage. In the films they made him saying that “… I can make bad things happed to those who are mean to me” making us feel sorry for him…WRONG! Tom from this young age was VICIOUS! He enjoyed causing pain to innocent people! No Childers was taking to him because they were afraid of him at this young age! He didn’t let others to harm him, he terrorised the other children of the orphanage! We also saw another memory very important for the plot but I cannot say much because I will spoil things… I’ll just say that young and beautiful Tom Riddle visited a rich lady that she had at her possession some very important magical artefacts. He convinced her to give them to him and he killed her, framing her house-elf for the murder! We also saw that after some years Tom visited Dumbledore at Hogwarts to ask the post of the Defence against the dark arts teacher. Dumbledore denied the post and Tom curse any future teacher! That’s why every year something happened to the defence against the Dark Arts professor and he had to go!
@Kolious_Thrace
@Kolious_Thrace Год назад
That moment of Ron nearly dying wasn’t that funny! They just spoiled the moment putting Ron making fun of the event saying those girl are gonna kill me… Most importantly, JK Rowling said that at one point decided that she had to kill one of the trio, Ron! For a long time she was convinced that Ron had to die but at the end she changed her mind on that! She didn’t want that much pain for Harry because there would be much pain at the end… That scene between Harry and Draco at the bathroom was thrilling! Harry used the spell he saw in the book without knowing what it does! The spell was “Sectumsempra” with the comment “For my enemies” That was a dark-magic spell created by Snape himself! He created this spell for his enemies = James, Sirius those who bullied him! It was dark magic because the spell was like a magical sword slicing the opponent and the scars were not heal-able! Only Snape knew the counter-spell because he created the original spell! Harry was stunned seeing Draco bleeding to death! A poltergeist of the castle named Peeves saw that and he screamed “Murders at the bathroom!!! Potter killed Malfoy” Snape heard that and he run to save Draco! He was the only one that knew the counter-spell. Without him Draco would be dead! Yes, Tom split his soul into seven pieces, creating seven horcruxes! Harry said that we have to search like any tiny rock for the Horcruxes but Dumbledore told Harry that Voldemort was from a young age cocky! He wouldn’t accept his important magical soul to be hidden inside common and unworthy objects! He searched for important magical artefacts to make his Horcruxes! That’s why he stole two important artefacts from that lady that Harry saw in one memory! The objects that Voldemort chose had significant importance to the magical world or special meaning for him. For example the diary was a proof that he was the true heir of Salazar Slytherin. The rind belong to his mother which was a pure-blood witch descended from Salazar Slytherin (wanting to hide the fact that his father was a muggle) The locket was a personal belonging of Salazar Slytherin and the location of that cave where he hide it was the place where he practiced for the first time magic torturing two children! When they took that boat to take them to the other side, Harry saw dead bodies floating on the water! They are called Inferi and they are corpses of real people used as puppets by Dark Wizards. Using Dark magic Voldemort used the corpses of his victims to make them guards of his horcrux! They weren’t alive but after their death, a dark wizard could use a spell to use their bodies as puppets! Dumbledore told to Harry that let’s hope they won’t wake up, but if they do they are creatures of the night! They thrive in cold and dark places so creating light and warmth (fire) could repel them. But Harry forgot that and he used spells that could not harm already dead corpses… The potion in a crystal basin was the Emerald Potion also known as the potion of despair. It could induce the drinker with intense pain, fear and guilt for his actions and extreme thrist! Draco and Lucius were Death-Eaters. Of course Voldemort made Draco a Death-Eater to tease and punish Lucius. Narcissa though never became a Death-Eater! She was in this situation because of Lucius, her sister Bellatrix and the rest of her faking (the Blacks) being followers of Voldemort! Snape fashioned this nickname for himself! Snape was a half-blood that’s why he called himself half-blood. Prince was the surname of his mother! His witch mother was Eileen Prince His muggle father was Tobias Snape. So, Half-blood Prince! The potion book belonged to Snape. Being a gifted student, Snape made a lot of corrections to the potion recipes! That’s why everyone was failing to potion, but Harry, following Snape corrections was making great potions! In the books, Dumbledore’s Phoenix sang a wonderful sad song before Dumbledore’s corpse, then he left Hogwarts!

In Prisoner of Azkaban, when Snape enters the shrieking shack and has a little sassy conversation with Sirius and Lupin, it’s mostly Sirius and Snape going back and forth and Sirius says “why don’t you run along and play with your chemistry set.” At that line you can visibly see Snape get annoyed like it hit a nerve and not just because it was coming from someone who would pick on him in school. In the wizarding world science class for all intents and purposes is called Potions. In the muggle world, our world, it’s called science or chemistry. It is either assumed that Sirius is aware of Snape’s blood status or it was legit written in the books (it’s been a while) so Sirius knew that would put him off a bit. Imo, it’s a Easter egg drop from JK Rowling that I haven’t seen a lot of people pick up on.

"Avada Kedavra" is the etymology of the modern word "abracadabra". It's an ancient Arabic curse meaning "Let the things be destroyed." In the Potterverse, it's just one of the many misremembered pieces of information in Muggle culture from the time before the Wizarding world went underground.

Wizard Genealogy is like this if you’re parents are both pure blood then you are too. If one of your parents is a Muggle or Muggleborn you are considered a half blood. If you come from a Pureblood family, but have no magic you are considered a Squib. The guy from the wanted poster is named Finrier Greyback he is a werewolf who has reputation for attacking children one of his previous victims was a very young (3-5 year old) pre-Hogwarts Remus Lupin.

Draco would have likely died had Snape not shown up to rescue him in the bathroom. The spell Harry used, Sectumsempra, has the effect of delivering deep slashes to the area the wizard pointed his wand at. Because it is powerful dark magic these can inly be healed properly with the counter curse Snape used. So Draco would have bled out had Snape not tailed him. This is one of 7 spells invented by Snape before he was even a legal adult, subtly showing off how powerful of a wizard he is!

To answer the question about the horcruxes: Voldemort spilt his soul into 7 pieces since 7 is the most magical number, splitting it anymore would be dangerous and damaging. He made 6 horcruxes, and the last piece kept in his body. That's the piece that was like a wondering spirit prevented from dying after his body was destroyed when trying to kill Harry as a baby, then a parasite that was on professor Quirrel in 1st movie, then in the 4th movie that piece is the same that gets another body that Voldemort now has. So again, there are 6 horcruxes. The diary and the ring are both now destroyed, and the locket is somewhere unknown. There are 3 other unknown horcruxes somewhere also unknown. Sorry for the long story, I love your reactions ❤️

Avada Kedavra is actually the origin of Abracadabra. It's in Aramaic and it used to be a healing spell. It means "let the thing be done". Dombledore's death from a storytelling point of view makes sense. In order for the trio to fully take up the mantle in this fight, the old crew has to go. You cannot present as a writer Harry's journey if you don't allow him to get out from under Dumbledore's shadow. That's also why Sirius had to die. And just so you know, the book has a lot less of the teenage love drama and a lot more essential information, a few more incursions into Voldemort's past through different people's memories.

For the horcruxes question, after Harry sees Slughorn's true memory Dumbledore shows him the Gaunt Ring (the horcrux that Dumbledore himself destroyed) and the Diary from the second movie (which Harry destroyed). Dumbledore at that point knew there were multiple horcruxes, after the memory though he finally had a possible number for how many were made; 7. In the 6th Harry Potter book Harry is shown other memories from Voldemorts past and from those Dumbledore starts working out what they are, just not necessarily where they are. At the beginning of the movie you guys seemed to have a little bit of confusion about the newspaper headings. They read: " Azkaban's Latest Resident" with a photo of Lucius Malfoy underneath. If you noticed in the 5th movie at the department of mysteries, Lucius was knocked out, so he was captured by the ministery and tried as a death eater and found guilty and sent to azkaban. (he is also sent to Azkaban in the books). the second article says: "Fallen from grace: Malfoy's wife and son leave the trial." with a picture of Narcissa (Malfoy's wife) and Draco (Malfoy's son). I think you might have thought Draco had a son or something? As Harry always calls Draco, ''Malfoy'' instead of his first name, I can see how you might have been confused when the newspaper referred to Lucius just by his last name.

36:40 "Why?" Voldemort's quest is ... IMMORTALITY (for himself) ... and he is going over as many dead bodies as he needs to. - drinking unicorn blood from the first movie - the philosopher's stone can turn lead into gold AND create an elixir that stops ageing - the diary of Tom Riddle can basically "resurrect" him at the cost of another's life (which could be repeated forever) - the other Horcruxes are simply "life insurance"

Probably someone else has already said this, but what happens with the Draco/Snape plot is that Voldemort makes Draco a deatheater and makes him kill Dumbledore (the cursed jewlery, poisoned drink...). But his mother Narcissa is too afraid for him and so she asks Snape to look after him. Then at the Astronomy Tower, Draco just can't kill Albus, so Snape is the one to do it. Personally, up to this point I believe Severus is on the bad side. Another thing, actually there are 6 horrcruxes; Tom divided his soul in seven parts - 6 'objects' (horrcruxes) + his actual body = 7. Two of these are destroyed (diary and ring). One of them is found (locket), though it's not the real one. Now they just have to find the real locket plus 3 more horrcruxes.

Half-Blood Prince is explained in the books. Snape is the son of the pureblood witch by the name Eileen Prince who was dis-inherited for marrying the Muggle Tobias Snape, a poor, drunk and violent man. Therefore Snape is a Half-Blood and a Prince from his mother's side.

• (About Half-Bloods and Pure-Bloods) The number of generations is what separates half-bloods from pure-bloods. A pure-blood cannot have any muggle-born or muggle ancestors for at least three generations. • (Snape shooing away Wormtail) A little catharsis going on here. • (Luna finding Harry) It was Tonks. Switching Tonks for Luna means we didn't get the reveal that sometimes a patronus can change forms to reflect who they love. (In Tonk's case, from a jackrabbit to a wolf.) • (Attack on the Burrow) Didn't happen. But I suppose "I promised to be a good boy and not wander off" wouldn't have made an exciting scene. • (Ron being poisoned) Slughorn was just as helpless in the book, which I always thought was a stupid reaction for someone who clearly knew a lot about potions. • (About the horcruxes) Harry makes that same mistake in the book, too. Dumbledore corrects him by saying there'll be six horcruxes because the six soul pieces plus the one still inside Voldemort is seven. • (The Killing Curse) BTW, "Avada Kedavra" means "Let the thing be destroyed," and is what used to be chanted to get rid of illnesses. Through mutations in pronunciation, the modern phrase is "abra cadabra".

Why Voldemort chose Harry is explained in the books. It wasn't because he heard name first though. Dumbledore was 115 in this book/movie. In the book the trio *did* use the invisibility cloak when they followed Draco (who was alone. Not with his mom). Lucius was never Voldemort's right hand man just a follower and he was in Azkaban during this one. Voldemort was *not* happy about him letting the prophecy be broken. Luna's glasses are called Spectre Specs and I own a pair. 😁 You get to "see" a lot more of the memories about Voldemort in the book. 😉 The scene at the burrow is the scene I despise most in this movie. My niece actually stood up in the theater and hollered "That didn't happen in the book!" It's something they put in for gratuitous action while leaving out a really great action part of the book. Harry only drank a tiny bit of the potion and was saving the rest fir something else. Later on it saved Ron, Hermione, Neville and Ginny's lives. Luna's too I think. Voldemort made 6 horcruxes. One piece of his soul remains inside Voldemort. They destroyed the diary and the ring. They still have to find the real locket and what & where the other 3 horcruxes are.

It’s funny that so many people said Harry was half blood because, as others I believe have suggested, blood *purists* would consider him “half blood.” I can’t think of any other reason to consider someone with two magical parents HALF blood, when clearly they are by no calculation 50% magical lol. It’s simply if you think that a wizard or witch doesn’t count and is 0% magical that it would make sense. Or rather, one side is not from a long lone of witches and wizards. So it makes sense that Bellatrix called Harry that, though he isn’t. As opposed to Voldemort who actually is, his father being a muggle.
@NoelleMar
@NoelleMar 7 месяцев назад
(And it’s true the half blood prince could be harry referring to himself because he is for some reason a “racist” or someone who is “racist” calling him that, but also for some reason giving him the complimentary prince title. Unless it’s sarcastic…)

Dumbledore - Half Blood Voldemort - Half Blood McGonagall - Half Blood Snape - Half Blood Harry Potter - Half Blood ( notthat I think Harry is extremely powerful - he is very great at DaDA) I think it was Rowlings way to make sure to show that "inbreeding" (like sacred 28 - Pure Blood families) sort if isn't a good thing.
