Something that I’ve done since my income varies now. I pay my bills/expenses with my first check in full instead of splitting it like I use too and then with the second I do my sinking funds like the stuff I don’t need immediately if that makes sense. That way I’m not stressed if I get destaffed or something later in the month. You got this girl! I hope this doesn’t stress you out too much. ❤️
@yahzea

Thanks for sharing. I will try this this month. 🙂
@lynninfinite
@lynninfinite 5 лет назад
Yes! That is what I do. I made all my credit card and bills to be due in the first half of the month and then I use my second paycheck (I get paid on the 1st & 15th of every month*) to pay off my student loans. Using this system, I’m officially one payment away from being student debt free! I get paid on the 13th of this month and that’s when I’ll be student debt free! 😱

Try the KISS Impress nails! Theyre my fave. They come in so many styles and you can get them at Target, Walmart and other drug stores. They stay on for about a week but I’m pretty rough with my nails. I’ve had them stay on for 2 1/2 weeks before. Saves so much $$. I was spending $30-40 every 2 weeks for my nails now I spend $7 every 2 weeks!

So sorry to hear about the stress surrounding your income. As someone with an income source that very much varies based on the time of year, I totally get that stress. To balance that though, I've basically made my budget 100% Sinking Funds and save up for each of my expenses from each paycheck. (For example, savings always has a set amount going towards it,, and Pandora gets $5 from every paycheck when I am getting a paycheck even though it gets charged once a month so I always have funds available even when I don't get a paycheck.)

Katie Palmer many times, you can do this method and instead of withdrawing the cash for those bills, you can leave it in the bank, or transfer to a different bank and have all of your bills come out of that one.

Just started my cash envelope stuffing journey last month. It has really been helpful. The only stressors I find is when I go shopping! 😭 It would be awesome to see a 'shopping with me' video as I went to the store and used 4 different envelopes. So I did 4 different transactions, but how do you check out when you have to go to the store for multiple different things? I.e. dog food, toiletries, groceries, clothing
@lindseymuse1591
@lindseymuse1591 5 лет назад
Cindy Zamora I felt this same way!! I work 3 jobs and don’t have time either. If you do a grocery pick up and just add and subtract what you need until you get it to work it’s way easier and saves so much stress!!

All of my bills are paid online. How does this work? Do you take the money out of the envelope, deposit into the bank account and then pay? That seems like a lot of going to the bank to me. Love your videos!!
@alyssamakesamigurumi
@alyssamakesamigurumi 5 лет назад
All of my bills that are paid online are in the “transfer” category. I transfer the money to my capital one account and it’s automatically paid from that account. I do this to keep it separate from what I can access with a debit card (so I don’t actually spend my bill money). It’s been working well for me and doesn’t involve me going to the bank any more often than 2 times per month (when I get paid)

I wish I could do cash for gas but Costco gas is cheaper than the other gas stations but they don’t take cash!!! I suppose I can stop at $X amount at the pump but I feel like a full tank of gas goes by slower, if it’s not a full tank, the gas goes out by like 2-3 days lol. I need a Prius
@caligirlyelcaleno8173
@caligirlyelcaleno8173 5 лет назад
Lynn Ly if you ever get a Prius, don’t get the C. Highest efficiency and the smallest model but starter batteries are exclusive to the dealership, $300 and under the backseat.... pain in the neck to jump. If i were to get a do-over- my Toyota echo got 50mpg freeway, was cheap and easy to maintain

So with envelope stuffing, do you cash all of every paycheck? If so, what goes into your bank accounts to be proof of income in the future if needed for like a car purchase, getting approved to rent a home. Things like that. I have always been told that without your money in the bank you don’t have a “proof of income”. So living as a waitress I would deposit money regularly just to have that to fall back on when I will need to prove it.
@alyssamakesamigurumi
@alyssamakesamigurumi 5 лет назад
I still get a paycheck deposited into my bank every two weeks, so that is my proof of income. It doesn't need to sit in my account for any period of time. Maybe it would be different if I was actually cashing a check? But it's a direct deposit so it's a bit different.
@ayshahale8496
@ayshahale8496 5 лет назад
Alyssa Herbert so you’re taking out enough to stuff your envelopes instead of cashing the whole check?
@kaitlynsiver729
@kaitlynsiver729 5 лет назад
@@ayshahale8496 yes! That's why she makes her slip for denominations for bills and pulls enough out for her envelopes that require cash, and she leaves the rest of her money in the bank
@alyssamakesamigurumi
@alyssamakesamigurumi 5 лет назад
Aysha Hale the entire check gets used up. I have my $1000 emergency fund in my bank and that + my biweekly direct deposit is perfectly fine to satisfy the requirements for my bank.

You can tell a difference when adults do these vs kids. Your priorities are off kido. Your putting to much aside for "gifts". Why would you put aside almost $200 for your boyfriend's birthday. Is he really that type of guy who wants stuff for his birthday? So much so you feel the need to put away $200+ for him. $50 max should do it that's the difference between a kid and a man. Not being harsh but just giving insight. You need to be putting that money away for a emergency since you are not going out and finding a new job and allowing this one to push you around. Your sitting over here worried about not getting paid but are paying for nails, Spotify, putting a rediculous amount away for gifts ect. Your kinda doing this wrong your still in the phase or doing what feels good instead of thinking about the future. However, I'm glad you are contributing to savings that's a start. Again not being mean IV been there done that. I watch Dave Ramsey on a daily and these videos pop up and just have to watch them. Great video tho. 👌🏻

her priorities don’t have to be your priorities. she’s also stated she already has an emergency fund set aside like dave ramsey suggests and aside from having one of those, saving money with no direct intention of spending it is frivolous.
@axbrey8144
@axbrey8144 5 лет назад
Obviously you’ve never watched any of her other videos. She puts huge chunks of savings aside EVERY paycheck. She mentioned she has savings in case her jobs fails so she can pay her bills for at least 6 months I believe. She’s not here to tell you how you should do your cash envelope, just to show you how she does hers. So she wants to spend 200+ on her boyfriend? Let her. Obviously her bills are still being paid, she still has good ass savings, so gtfo her ass. She’s responsible enough to be saving and budgeting. She got rid of her car to be more financially responsible. I’m pretty sure she’s an adult dude. Not everyone is as childish as you making assumptions based off one video.
@ilovekennethN
@ilovekennethN 5 лет назад
You should learn the difference from ‘you’re’ to ‘your’ in addition to saying things with constructive criticism and giving her a solution instead of tearing her down. Also she has put them to the side for a while so why would she dip into other categories and undo the work she’s been doing?
@saraashkir5793
@saraashkir5793 5 лет назад
I understand where youre coming from, as my personal priorities wouldnt be so focused on gifts or nails, but this is a journey, and people have to enjoy it at least a little bit to keep going. The bare minimum that youre talking about would be something to maintain for maybe a month or two. People cant live for a couple years following a bare minimum budget if they dont have to, because most will get annoyed and go on spending sprees instead. Allowing for room in the budget to get nails, spotify, treat friends/family, etc keeps people happy enough to continue budgeting but not overdo it. I personally think its more mature to do it this way as its balanced rather than extreme.
