There’s the official K-On! Anthology Comic and K-On! Story Anthology Comic you could talk about. There just compilations of chapters written by a bunch of different Mangaka. Can’t imagine there’d be that much to talk about though. It’s more standard K-on stuff, except it gets weirder and gayer sometimes because they’re essentially fanfics.
I mostly like Shuffle for the focus on making music. It’s actually somewhat educational. I do wish we had more College. I liked it and it felt incomplete.
OH! I have a ridiculous idea! Next year you need to rank and review EVERY SINGLE K-On song. The in-universe songs, the intros & outros, the image songs, the B-Sides, the Death Devil songs, all of them. I definitely may have missed 1 or 2, but all together there appear to be 69 fully recorded & unique songs in the entire K-On franchise. No I’m not joking, that’s actually the number. I have a list. There are some really under appreciated gems here, especially in the catalogue of “Image Songs” Whether or not you actually make the video, I know that I’m definitely going to do that ranking sometime in the future. Sounds super fun.
@@Totaraum Well those are all the ones available on streaming at least. That’s the extent of my knowledge which I guess I should have known was incomplete
Reading the manga's a strange experience for me, while reading it the anime versions of the characters are stuck in my head but the manga doesn't give the cast as much charm or depth imo. I felt similar to feeling exhausted after reading except I pretty much checked out after K-On College. It better come to you dropping the greatest AMV alive next year.
The manga is read that way because it is written in a yonkoma style. It is essentially a "short story" comic structure, a la newspaper gag comics: (panels)1-setup, 2-buildup, 3-climax, 4-conclusion It is still mind blowing to me that they made a full storyline based on essentially many gags one after the other lol. Makes sense on why the anime is a slice of life one though.
great review!! rlly insightful and fun!! i mostly agree on the k-on manga points but i gotta give the manga some praise cause some things in it i rlly wish were animated (like the friendship moments between characters we’ve rarely see interact together - and more senior moments from first year although and azusa’s manga introduction since she was more motivated there to join) but the anime did rlly good on the musical portions and im thankful for that, though there are some things the anime did in comparison to the manga that i didn’t fully agree with but if i could combine both of the anime/manga aspects together for full effect then yeah pretty good, so k-on manga wasn’t rlly short to me at all although i can understand how it could be as for your reviews for k-on college and high school, i absolutely agree!! i hope they both get animated someday, whether it be as a special or some kind of timeskip movie!! haven’t read k-on shuffle yet but i will one day, also will absolutely check out your yui quote video!! also amv and review of all the songs in the future would be great too!!
I found this channel in early november 2021 after finishing K-On. I saw both previous videos and said, "Guess I'll wait to see the next one." And I happen to find this video by chance. Time flies
It sure does, it feels like it hasn’t been even close to a year since I uploaded the movie video. Regardless, it’s cool that RU-vid decided to bring you back here after so many months, welcome back!
I read the manga and I agree it isn't as relatively weak as for example DigiBro (I think he's Ygg Studios now) made it out to be, but I'm still feeling the KyoAni improvements. The art aside, the ability to not be forced to prioritize cheap punchlines every 4 frames really help. For example, there's this joke about how after Azusa was so impressed by the live it turns out Yui at that moment had forgotten how to finger C again - though Yui is meant to be a ditzy character, there are still some jokes you can't do after a point in the narrative without denying the growth a character has made, and this is one of them. I'm so glad KyoAni "forgot" to adapt it. I don't think you can really "unsee" the anime after you've seen it - your mind starts backfilling what's missing in the manga panels (this also works for light novels) - and that's why even weaker series get a one-cour these days. Which may be one reason why Shuffle doesn't work - without the anime helping, it just can't get over that hump. And I suspect without the anime, K-ON manga would be similar for me. Having said that, I've also read Bocchi the Rock's manga. I think overall the K-On manga is less reliant than Bocchi on the anime to carry it. Though I did like the anime, fairly or not I just can't maintain interest in the Bocchi manga.😔
I mean, of course you are free to have your opinion and I probably can't even say you are wrong generally speaking, but I think it is kind of strange to make a point out of a 4koma manga being made in a... well, a 4koma style. It's supposed to be diverting just as light novels aren't supposed to be as intricate as War and Peace or Crime and Punishment.
I have the omnibus and yeah the show is better. Loved the little letters the author left showing his instruments ( left handed ) and saying mio was their favorite.
I had watched k on when I was younger but I forgot abt it and just watched the 2 seasons in 3 days and I rlly wanted to watch the movie but I rlly want to watch the dub and I’m a bit sad cuz Ik it wont come back but I didn’t know the manga, and I can never handle new characters taking place for original characters it’s just feels like it would never come back and I’m very late to rewatch lol and I’m so late but I still love this so much and I’m dumb 👍 (idk why I said this I just wanted to say something ig but I rlly do love this anime I can’t let go something I love idk why..)
I actually preferred the Azusa high school sequel over the college. One. That would probably helps that I like Azusa the most out of the main five and I actually like the new characters. They are more than the ones in college
I remember in 2021 i bought 5 of the books, 1, 2, 3, 4 and high-school, (it was a pain to find them all and they arent good quality but ah well) But honestly i just have a gross feeling reading the manga, its way more fanservicey and just not as good as the show.. which is weird cause im the kinda person that would praise everything about k on! It's literally my favourite show ever lol. Bleehh Its icky, the manga i mean
Anime being better than manga?... Shoooooooooooooocking but fair game.... sometimes, all you need is just some cuteness, a few song and relax....cuz world is gone to FUKO!!! xD
I really liked the cameos! Just didn’t find a place to fit them. If I remember correctly, the original four are only in one panel, but Azusa and sawako get full scenes
yes they do 😭 in k-on college, yui says she and azusa talks on the phone regularly while in k-on high school, azusa calls yui twice for advice and gets rlly happy over the phone with her there’s also this official art by kyoani which shows the girls reuniting with azusa in the clubroom (wearing the college outfits kakify put them in his original chapter cover art)
