MY K1 FIANCE VISA INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE 2024 | US EMBASSY MANILA | PHILIPPINES | Fil Am Couple 

It was a very frustrating and very long wait. In the beginning, a lot of people I know, here, in the states told me to just have her come on a tourist visa and then marry her and file an Adjustment of status and she will be here in 4 months, but Gly and I both agreed we wanted to do everything the " right" way, so we filed the K-1. After you file, its nearly impossible to get them to allow her to even visit because shes allready shown intent to immigrate by filing the K-1, so we had to wait long periods between me visiting her over there, and all in all, the " right" way took us almost 2 years for her to finally get her visa, while everyday I watched illegals come right over and get rewarded for doing things illegally while those of us who did everything legally were punished. The system is definately broken.

I agree. I joked with my wife that if she was from Mexico or South America she could just walk across the border and I would just pick her up.

You can do it. The US embassy interview is just a formality. It goes really fast and they are very friendly there. The CFO interview is the scary part, lol. You will be ok. :)

Hello, This is Erik. Thank you for your support. Gly and I had the same problems during our process with the language in other peoples vids and she would have to translate everything for me. After that, she decided to take the extra couple days and add subtitles to all of her videos so other couples could watch together and hopefully help them in their own journey. @@glianderik Very much appreciated. My fiance's interview is next month, so this video was relevant, updated, and extremely informative. I had never heard of the "CFO" until this video, so super thankful she mentioned that. Guess that is one more thing to get before we finally get to be together after almost two years of dating and one year engaged.

I dont think we even checked CEAC after the interview. We chose to pick up our visa in major city, Davao, and it took about 5 days. Can take up to 10 days, otherwise.

Hello @gravillaester7632 This is Erik. Gly asked me to reply on how we did it all ourselves without a lawyer. The best advice I can give is on a resource that made it all so much easier for us. I found this website called VisaJourney.com and we created a free online registration there that gave us a monthly estimate on when we could expect our application to be accepted and it had a huge forum and community that answered all of our questions as we went. No matter what question we had, there were many others who ran into the same questions before us and I could easily search the forums to find the answers we needed along the way, and the absolute best part for me was that the website is 100% free. I never had to pay for access to anything there. I also spent a lot of time on you tube researching along the way even though sometimes the info on you tube was outdated or false. The process is a very expensive one to go through and a lawyer only adds another huge expense to it all. When you add that to the fact that the lawyer will make you do all the running and document collecting yourself anyway, it just didn't make sense to us to pay for an attorney as well.

I hope we know this before he paid for the process for k1 visa to the agency last week. 😢

As long as they have a U S embassy in China, you have nothing to worry about. You should be ok :) We did all of our own paperwork and used visajourney.com anytime we had questions about anything in the forms. Its a completely free site and community of people who have gone through or are currently going through the immigration process. when we search their forums, we found other people all ready asked the same questions and we found the answers we needed.

Getting closer :). After NVC it all starts going much, much faster between steps.

I did not see it on my fiance appointment letter, I saw some on some examples and contacted ustraveldocs thru chat, and they updated it, and the interview appointment letter got the DS160 confirmation number on it.@@glianderik

I hate to break this to you. My wife and I also opted for the CR1 visa route ( will turn into an IR1 in a month). We did our I-130 in May 2022 and it got approved 3 days short of 1 year. We went to the NVC stage right away, we were documentarily qualified in the middle of June 2023....we have been stuck at the NVC since then, its been 9 months of waiting for the US Embassy in Manila to send an interview letter. At this point....we are stuck at the NVC stage...and there's a lot of people like me who are still waiting.

s9391 That's ridiculous. Hopefully you will get your appointment soon. I can just hope the embassy in Hong Kong won't take as long. I would rather not have her go back to the Philippines, especially if they have that kind of wait time.

@@bigdog6598 I say look into the wait time of Hong Kong, and if its shorter go there if its possible...If not, you'll be in the same boat like hundreds of people like me waiting in the Philippines. There are a lot of people who have been waiting for an interview since June of last year, some are May and April but majority are from June and later months of last year. Some people from March and April of last year just got their interview letter last night.

s9391 That's crazy. I don't understand why they would be so backlogged. For married couples there should not be a wait like that.

@@bigdog6598here is another tidbit of information that will really make you mad. The US embassy in Manila processed 320K non immigrant visa while they only processed 30K immigrant visa. A couple of months ago, January 2024, the US embassy in Manila only issued 4 CR1 visa. You read that right FOUR!!!!

Hello, this is Erik. It will probably be fine. If anything, they will just continue the interview and then wait for you to bring in the original before finishing it all, but they seem to be alot more accepting of scanned documents in 2024 than they were in the past.
