Can I get some kudos for getting Ka2? Playing like a super-GM?

Instructive middlegame analysis. It's always difficult to mix these aggressive and defensive moves. Interesting to see how Firouzja protected his king before winning in the attack. One thing could have been added: the need to take cd4 immediately. Many amateurs (and i'm myself one) don't know why this is essential.

I notice you only cover games with ian nepomniachtchi that he loses. It shows your bias. 🤬

@andrewroberts8139 he is not "ridiculous", *you are.* Nepo beat Ding in a brilliant game that could have been shown, but it wasn't.

@@spartanthe300ththermopylae4 That was in round 10. The format on this channel is that one game is reviewed per round. Nepo got unlucky that in round 10, Gukesh played more brilliantly, or at least it was a flashier finish (...Nc8!).

Crazy game, crazy tournament. I guess we'll see who's nerves hold up tomorrow. Wijk always seems to start the year off right.

A round where most games were decided by blunders. Even the world champion blundered in a rook endgame. Fortunately for him his opponent blundered back. Wijk aan Zee is always interesting. My favourite tournament. It shows that super GM's make mistakes too. Thank you for your good comments.

I have a serious question: in some games, Firouzja blast opponents, and on other games he is getting crushed. I am not a great player nor analysis of the game, but sometimes I feel he does not understand what is he doing. Can you please give me a deep insight on that? May I kindly as for your opinion about this Daniel?

Speculative attacks carry risk. Most players do not have the instinct and skill to make the most of such attacks. Even the best players can't always make a risky attack work. But they are difficult to defend against a player like Firouzja. Of course.
@hardcorecode

It's pretty simple really, he is a very sharp tactical player that had a crazy streak cumulating in him winning the 2021 grand Swiss. Then he plays the candidates and the top players choose dry openings as is a long tournament ( double round robin) in order to pace themselves and have energy left when they need it towards the ends. What did Firouzja do ? he played his sharp tactical chess against the big boys and suffered a few losses and quickly lost desire to compete leading to some comical losses towards the end. He is talented but he has a long way to go before he can be a serious threat in the candidates, but look he made the candidate again! maybe this time around it will be different
