so there are 2 possibilities: either the food was not cooked properly (ingredients were substituted, therefore not tasting as authentic) or the richness of eating one dessert after another was too much for the palette. maybe the banana used was not as ripe hence the bitterness. i mean, it is rare to get leche flan wrong because it is quite basic to make to be honest.
Cesar, I am your Filipino Kababayan from the Philippines. I am an International Cheffe. . . Turon is not supposed to be bitter. Maybe the caramel was overcooked or cooked in a very high flame, so the burnt caramel tasted bitter. Or maybe the Cook failed to cut or remove the imperfections of the bananas. He/She was supposed to check every part of the bananas to see whether there were peculiar dark spots. Maybe the raw bananas used were organic and the tree where it came from had a disease. No offense meant, but I suggest. next time, you purchase from a more reputable restaurant that has high standards of Quality Control. Just by the look of it, the Ube Biko was not authentic since ube or purple yam does not look vividly dark purple when incorporated with another dessert. Maybe the cook just used an Ube flavoring and used it as a food coloring and not as the real thing. Fresh root crop is supposed to be pre-cooked as Ube Halaya before incorporating it with Biko. On the other hand, the Ube Halaya that you rated 10/10 looks authentic since the color is lighter. If that Filipino Resto was a fast food resto, definitely the Ube Biko was adulterated or fake and NOT an AUTHENTIC UBE BIKO. Authentic Ube Biko is expensive and seldom sold in fast food restos. . . BTW, people have different taste buds. Smokers' taste buds are different from non-smokers. As a Cheffe, my favorite Filipino dessert aside from Halo-halo is Authentic/Unadulterated Leche Flan (without cornstarch or any added extenders).
bruhhh the sri lankan dude is disappointing aff 😭😭 Being indian, fucking love lumpias- remind me of samosas. But damn leche flan is pretty common i’d say in other countries like mexico 😭 Like its just pudding with caramel how can you hate 😭 But everyones got different taste buds.
and to add, the two lovely ladies weren't offensive at all. There were a couple of desserts that they didn't like but they were very polite in expressing not liking the food as much. Anyhow, that's just me and my opinion. The quality of the video though is very very good.
i think the sri lankan guy was expecting the food of Filipino should be the same as their food in Sri Lanka hahhaha. He was judging it based on the foods in sri lanka, unlike the two Koreans they actually judged it based on the actual taste of Filipino foods.
As far as I know leche flan is yummy🥺 what happened? Most filipino desserts do taste good, even when I reacted to other nationalities, maybe the way those food are made?
You never had Sri Lankan food and when Filipinos go to Sri Lanka as you csn see them vlogging, they all want to tell Sri Lankan men tp become a model or celebrity in Manila. Sri Lanka has a very beautiful culture. Dont attack an entire nation just because someone didnt like the Chinese Food that you think is so Filipino.

I'm Filipino from the Philippines..We use spoon and Fork most of the time here though but if there's nothing else to pick our food with were Ok eating with our hands... I'm also OK eating with Chopsticks 😂
If you cannot do Filipino food properly don't do it at all. MSG? Oily, Have you seen Indian food and the amount of clarified butter you put in? This video does not do Filipino food justice. NO Thank you.

Why is the turon sour? What did you put in it? Did you use saba banana? It's supposed to be sweet. And the bitter taste?you might have overcooked it that's why the sugar got bitter.
