First thing I always check on a fuel injected KTM is fuel pressure. Taco moto sells a pretty good gauge, or you could make your own. 48.6-52.9 PSI is spec.
Check the water pump vanes. They are plastic stock and can break off or deform enough to lose effectiveness. Quite a few billet after market options to address this.
Hi, for lower heat, try higher pressure rad cap w/quality DB rad fluid. For more drive, adjust the dds preload. Unsure about lean condition, but maybe mapping or re-initialize ur CPU for ur elev (no touchy touch throttle during initializing procedure).
TPS is huge. I would 100% adjust it whenever you have a chance. on my 2023 KTM 125 any little change to it would make my bike run funky. I will have to clean out my injector and fuel filters next time I am doing major maintenance.
I got an in tank fuel filter (I think from slavens). It sits just below the gas cap and it's shocking the amount of junk that it catches. I'd definitely recommend getting one as it'll drastically reduce the amount of times you need to deal with the other fuel filters. I have 140ish hours on my KTM and I've never had to change the inline filter.
Hey Kincade! About the chain tensioner. After this many hours it may be a good idea to check the camchain for wear (and also the guides) as overtime these stretch. If it is stretched the tensioner has difficulty keeping enough pressure on it as it has to extend (almost) all the way
I'd suggest you go back to a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. The water is a better transferer of heat than just straight coolant. OEM use that mix for a reason. Hope this helps with your issue.
I have a ‘23 350 SX-F. I data logged it yesterday during several motocross sessions with the CUO and temps were between 167*-177*. Hope this helps. I have no fan BTW.
i've had 3 350's (18,21 and a 24) euro models so the EXC/XCW with a trail tech fan at 82 degree celsius 180 fahrenheit at it's on a lot on all the 3 bikes.also running around 200 F in race conditions or mud races never had any issues in over 400H of total running time due to heat. That being said the fuel pump is a known issue on the 350's i also have had a few bad injectors. hearing your bike and thoughts i think definitely a fuel issue.
My 2019 ktm 350 had a hole in the in tank plastic fuel filter. Very small hole lost fuel pressure and would lean pop/run like a bad carb 4 stroke. Drain the tank down low but not empty look into the tank and you’ll see spray edit seems like you already changed it out!
I noticed a difference on my 350 after changing the fuel pump and filter. It might hit 50psi when dead headed against a closed injector, but can it maintain the required pressure when the injector is open?
I'm having that exact issue on my 24' 350xc-f as well. I reached out to twisted development about an ECU flash and they said KTM tunes their ECUs really lean for emissions. I haven't had mine flashed yet but that is something I'm looking into. Could help you as well.
My ktm 250 had the same problem and we changed fuel pump in the gas tank and that fixed it but then a few weeks later it happened again but me and my dad looked at it was the hose to the gas tank if it ever happens again check for that
i have a 2022 xcf 350 i do not run a rad fan and i find if im not riding it hard it runs very hot i have a friend with a 2017 sxf350 and he has the same issue
Most 4 stroke bikes run at 200° unless you’re riding hard enduro I would take the fan off. You get more air flow with just the fins on. It will channel more air. But yea my 250 runs great at 210° im sure the 350 will be the same.
i have the same problem but in a 520 exc 2002 that its carburated, i have cleaned it a bunch of time but this like bad trotthel that its almost the same bad response that you get when you are geting the bike out of idle its really weird
The cam sprockets should have markings; don't know exactly how Yamaha has their engines set up. I'd get a manual. But the cam lobes will be facing a certain direction. You can also put a screwdriver or something in the spark plug hole and if the piston is at the top, you're good to set timing. I think those Yamahas have lines somewhere behind a plug in the ignition cover that show you you're correct as well. If you already have the top end apart, the valves are already closed. So you just have to make sure to reinstall the camshafts correctly to be at TDC.
Just an FYI, but .378 V instead of .400 V will lean the bike out slightly. Might be worth your time to adjust it to .400 V just to rule that out. The leaner it is, the hotter it will run. It is also probably worth your time to confirm your temp readings are close with an IR Temp gun. I assume your just going off the fan temp gauge and I've seen the Tusk and Trailtech temp senders vary quite a bit. I had a Trail Tech that read way low.
Love the '25 ktm looks, but still unsure bout all the electronics added, so stick n w/my carb"d ktm for now and surf n the beta RR RE. That said, I'm sure I'd happy w/any new Katoom 2 or 4 stk. Also, please let us know if all ur issues on the 350 were resolved & the fixes
Definitely time to do a coolant flush, water pump check/replace, and clean the radiator fins out as dirt for those harder races are well as just riding behind buddies can build up between the fins and hurt performance of the radiator for sure.
I would check the impeller for the pump. Also, might be worth it to put a laser temp sensor in your pack and verify that the temp gauge that turns on and off your fan is correct. I'd hit the sense at the rad and make sure it matches. I know I have a tusk fan on my bike and it seems it can be wonky. I was going to do this. If you don't have one they are pretty cheap to pick up.
flush the radiators and use engine ice its a good idea to check the water impeller at the same time as they are plastic and can get tired over time. also getting the ecu remapped isn’t a bad idea as it only cost about $35 i got my 350 remapped and i don’t even run a thermo fan doing enduro now + it gives you more power. if neither work check you radiator fan is calibrated properly using a temperature sensor on the radiator next time you ride. love the vids btw 👍
@@christianasher5563 why are you guys spamming me about skipping an obstacle on a race a month ago? Yes, I didn’t start hitting that tire until 4 laps to go. I couldn’t get over it the first lap, I was sick as a dog, and I was trying to survive that race. What exactly do you want? What are you trying to accomplish here? What do you want me to say?
I have had very poor experiences with Rockey Mountain. I have ordered a few small parts which arrived as the completely wrong item. Luckily I only needed them for spares and they were only small gaskets, but still, this has happened multiple times. However, I ordered a Works Connection, aluminum skid plate for my 2013 CRF450r for around $100 which stated it was for this bike and would fit. It was for MOST CRF450r's however my bike already had a factory skid plate when it was new. This is something I didn't know or think of at the time. The factory mounts for the bolts were welded to the frame. The skid plate itself was long gone by the time I had bought the bike. The new skid plate I bought arrived and I attempted to put it on, only to find out, the mounts for the original plate did not allow for it to be installed since they were in the way of the mounts the new one came with and could not be used themselves. I also noticed one of the new skid plate brackets (which did not have anything in the way of it) would not, under any circumstances, go into its assigned spot on the frame without being cut down with a grinder or simply TAKING THE ENGINE LOOSE and picking it up about a quarter of an inch to get the bracket in place. I obviously took the item out of the package to attempt all this. I called RM and informed them of the issue. I also took detailed pictures and sent them to customer service. They informed me it was not their problem and since I was dumb enough to open a part I bought instead of leaving it in the package and simply never opening it for use (apparently this is what they think people do with items they buy), there was nothing which could be done. I spoke to a manager and a few other people who said they would allow it to be returned (probably since I was ticked off and wouldn't leave it alone). I sent it back, paid like 30 bucks for shipping, and a month later or whatever I got $17 for a return. I called again, furious, and they told me they had no choice but to charge me a restoking fee and a damage fee. If I would have known this, I would have simply kept it and drilled different holes and made it work with the original mounts somehow. What do I think should have happened....? Well, as a company who CLAIMS to care about their customers which has a MASSIVE operation, after evaluating the problem, they should have ate the cost. Not me. I am out, including tax and shipping, over $120 and have NOTHING to show for it. I make every effort to buy elsewhere now. Sometimes I have no choice, but seriously, this giant company could do so much better and chooses not to. Nope. I don't like Rockey Mountain. Just something I had to warn people of. Kincade, love your videos man. But tell those .....people.....at RMMC to do better.
Rocky Mountain is by far the best in the industry. I've ordered thousands over the years with zero issue. You couldn't figure out how to install a skid plate so you cut it up and drilled holes in it and it's somehow their fault? No man, that's on you. I've put that exact same skid plate on the same Gen CRF and it was tricky but it fit. Maybe you should invest in some mechanic classes down at the local community College before you go bashing the best in the biz.
@@KTM.Dealer.770-p4f So I'll take a second to clarify my statement which may have been confusing. I did not cut, grind, scratch, or in any way damage anything. I simply pointed out that the bracket on the front left of the frame would have had to get some help in one of those ways to be installed. The item was "opened" and therefore "used" and unable to be re-sold as new. That is automatically a "damage fee". This is the explanation I was given. The restoking fee is simply for returning it outside the normal 30 or 60 day timeline. Don't remember the exact number of days but that is irrelevant. The plate and mounts were never damaged in any way. Yes, RM is one of the biggest companies out there. True. So, they cannot make mistakes?? They are obviously angels because they are the "best in the biz". Interesting opinion dude. You sound young with limited life experience. Can you tell me how long I have been riding, working on and building bikes..? Your suggestion of classes at a community college makes me think that's where you are at the moment. Take some advice and slow down before attacking the keyboard. Yah, I had a moment and felt the need to share a story which still irritates me a bit. Why not? In no way does it attack anyone personally, nor will it hurt the company's reputation really. It's a short story on a RU-vid comment section. As for whose fault it is, it's probably initially Works Connection for overlooking something, simple, honest mistake realistically. I'm sure RM advertised what they were told by the manufacturer. Or at least I hope so... Let's assume they did. Okay so the part doesn't fit. BTW they acknowledged this, I sent pictures remember genius. The response was "yah that's wrong and definitely won't work". So, who eats the loss? Works Connection? Probably should because they made the part and assuming they advertised it to fit a 2013 CRF450R, they are the initial problem... BUT! I didn't buy it from them. I got it from RM. So, did RM know about the issue when they were selling it to me? No probably not. Again, we at least hope they didn't lol. But nevertheless, I spent money out of pocket for an item which did not fit what was advertised. It was purchased from RM. RM acknowledged the issue and told me to kick rocks....Why?? I am the customer. All I did was believe what they advertised! Now there is no forgiveness for me? The biggest, "best in the biz" company wouldn't fix a mistake which was beyond my control even though they, the huge company could easily do so. Noone would be laid off if they simply gave me a real return or even store credit. That is not how you do business. That is how you piss people off and earn a bad reputation. So, before you get rude on the internet, go down the hall in your community college and take a business class.
Just saying, if you change multiple things at once, you really do not know what helpled and what didn't. Good luck in the hunt for the real problem of over heating.
Yeah I'm sure it would run that good if that was true. 🤣 also he said he just adjusted the valves so I'm sure he would have noticed. People who maintain their bikes don't have issues like that.
