Arturo Barba Sevillano (www.arturobarba.com) live at Esteban de San Juan historic Organ (1784), Parroquia de San Andrés, Valladolid - Spain 2013 My Lady Carey's Dompe. Anonymous English Renaissance dance. XVIth Century.
Charme des Orgues Ibériques, avec jeu d'anche en façade: Chamade. Merci à Arturo BARBA, pour ce bon moment musical, et pour la mise en ligne de cette belle vidéo !
John Renbourn's version is my favorite. This one's played @ double tempo, so the listener get a what I call audio blur. I appreciate the virtuosity of the key board musician.
Ancient & stately. This piece was written for a minister's wife and was set to paper in 1525. In Tudor times this could have found its way to Spain as the Tudor family had musical ties to the crowned heads of Europe. (Tudor monarchs were: Henry VII, Henry VIII, Elizabeth l, ending in 1603).
This is quite wonderful - and what a Master of this art is Aturo Barba! I thought I would find this in my copies of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Books . . but no! The nearest I could find, in Vol. II, is on page 236 'The Irish Dumpe' - again anon. I was sure I had Lady Carey somewhere!
