My Lady Carey's Dompe is one of the earliest surviving Renaissance musical pieces, most probably written for lute and harpsichord.
A traditional English dance tune, it was written c. 1520s by an unknown composer during the time of Henry VIII of England, who played various instruments, of which he had a large collection.
"Dompe": a 16th century english term to denote a mournful or plaintive melody or song; also a tune in general; sometimes apparently used for a kind of dance - Oxford English Dictionary
