How many times have real kings, presidents or eras been portrayed through literacy or movies or comics in a new fantastic way. That's art. As to why... I personally don't invest that much on the matter after all, just making conversation here. I just believe that many people through time have enjoyed such materials as Troy, Robin Hood and King Arthur (depicting eras) or Simpsons and 300 (depicting real people in imaginary situations or fantasy settings such as this). Sure, not all where good but many gems occurred through this tactic. I can see the fear of secret (or not so secret) agendas behind some comments but most times than not when this is true the whole thing crumbles under it's non-existing value and barely becomes a meme. i believe we need to stop underestimate the critical thinking of the average person and think higher of the value that spending quality time with our children has to evolve that critical thinking rather a trash show on tv. For the record, that specific series was a fine comedy. Little boring at some parts, low quality in some others, but all and all fine.
