As far as cooling the superbird, you're overlooking something kinda obvious. The radiator position doesn't really change when they put the nose cone on. There's very little vents for airflow to reach in through the giant air pocket the cone now creates. So sitting on idle, that cone becomes a place hot air can stagnate. Unless you modify a way to get more fresh air in on idle, you probably won't solve that issue. The car was designed for nascar racing after all. So that cone is perfect having minor venting, great for wind resistance and during races, superbirds would have fine air reaching the radiator. Race cars dont just sit and idle much. It's a flaw from the factory basically.

@plektosgaming
@plektosgaming 2 года назад
@@alildashoffire758 I remember seeing a video years ago on some site where they compared a stock fan's airflow versus an electric one and it was orders of magnitude less for the electric one. That all means a speed shop and custom fabrication. The list goes on and on. It's the kind of long-term project that drives people mad, because if you want to race it, it's a mess of regulations and modifications done *right*, and then it still handles pretty much as bad as any race car CAN handle on a road course. Or you turn it back into a cruiser - and returning it to stock is... we're talking frame-off levels of time and expense, since so much was changed and cobbled together by the previous owner. I would sell it and avoid the trap.

May be right, but not so sure about that one. I've actually had the chance to sit in a Countach and a Diablo years back, the owner (yes, he also owned both of them) just saw me basically drooling over them and took the time to chat with me about them. And I came down there in a clapped out BMW E34 I bought for 500€ because that's basically all I could afford. I felt like buying a Lambo really is making your childhood dream come true, you don't care that much if it's not that great to drive or breaking down constantly. Ferraris are more the expression of some sort of a social status I would say; and you won't see Tyler put "Dumbest" plates on his F355. Weirdly though, and still only in my experience, the ones at motorshows / events who really didn't care at all about being "on par" were the guys at RUF. Didn't expect that to be honest, they were just pure petrolheads.

He finally showed up with a D tag a week or so ago. That means he is a KS. licensed dealer which means he can insure the tag itself and transfer the coverage to any car he puts it on. Its the only way to go with a lot of cars. Otherwise if a non dealer each car has to be individually licensed and insured. A lot of D tags just attach with magnets so a dealer can slap it on any car a customer wants to drive in the lot. He may actually buy the cars as a corporation. I am sure he writes off the repair expenses on his taxes.

Most dealers don't title the cars in their names, they have an "Open title". Hoovie surely knows all this. He is running a virtual used car lot. Some dealer plans have a reporting form where the dealer has to update the value of cars on the lot regularly like quarterly. I am a commercial insurance broker since 1984. One thing is not to drive those cars often, but if you dont have their engine running atleast a few times a week, then all sort of issues will pop up... You need to run a mechanical fan on the superbird no fan clutch either. They were known for overheating back in the day for airflow issues. I'm willing to bet that the electric fans aren't pulling enough CFM to properly cool the radiator. Put a mechanical fan on it with a fan shroud. There should be duct work or a closed in port running from the opening up front at the bumper/nose cone to the radiator as well. The 80's Camaros and various corvettes were known to have overheating issues because the duct work Infront of the radiator would get all jacked up from parking curbs

Hi Hoovie. Regarding the super bird. I had a similar issue with a big V8 and it overheating in traffic. I had big radiator etc etc and I finally cured it with an electric water pump. When the engine idles the flow rate through the normal mechanical rpm driven pump was to low leading to the overheat. With an electric pump the higher /needed flow rate is guaranteed and therefore gets the coolant through and out the radiator where it’s cooled.

I laugh every time Hoovie talks about money, because the thing with the Countach is that the value will only continue to appreciate. It's an iconic car and it will be loved for a very long time, especially with the gated manual. If you care about money that much, you should know how dumb it would be to sell either the Countach or the Diablo at this point, because 5 and 10 years down the line you're going to look at the prices and cry at how much money you threw away. There are not all that many cars that are easy to obtain that are appreciating assets, and to throw away one because you see it's up slightly is just silly.

Yes that SC430 might be a bit of a odd ball, as my GS430 might be as well but boy are they well build. I suppose it takes owning one to appreciate how amazingly good those engines are. Smooth, quick and dead reliable, something which it's German rivals(as you've shown) weren't so blessed with. from that small time frame when quality combined with technical advancement where still the leading markers in building a car. Mid Zero's cutting cost an quantity sadly took over.. For that they are widely appreciated though, they hold their value well. Even high mileage ones aren't cheap.

I'm the proud owner of an SC430 and I agree it's a bit of an oddball. But the car is 20 years old and the styling still turns a lot of heads. The engine has over 150k and still runs like a fine watch. My biggest complaint (easily fixed) is that it is too quiet! Other than that I would say it's a bit stodgy and perhaps even boring to drive, especially compared to a Lamborghini but it's hard to beat the reliability and hand-built quality of this car. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it from my home in Oregon to Miami today! Try that with your 20 year old German car.

@@edmcbee1020 that's why I have cut-outs installed just before the last mufflers, near silent to enjoy it as it was ment and sporty but not obnoxious when I want to hear all 8. And yes so well thought out and smooth it's might be somewhat dull(though opening the cut-outs and and setting the trans in sport makes it a intirely different annimal) it is what if find appealing about it. Very much like with other JDM top brands for example Honda or Yamaha it's a direct result of the perfectionism Japan is known for. Every brand has a certain appeal in that way. Italian stuff is about emotion - a experience. Germans value the driving qualities and luxury etc. There's argument do be made for any one of them.

Im grateful i was able to have driven a Countach S back in the late 80's a couple times. I had the same issue as Hoovie, not fitting in the car very well because of my size and the fact that i had to take off my shoes because the drivers side footwell is squished that my size 14 wide shoes ended up hitting the gas and brake, as well as the clutch and brake at the same time. Other than that is was a fantastic car.

Hoovie, love your channel. A nickel’s worth of free advice - sell the Countach. Too many dollars chasing too few hard assets have inflated car values - and you’re seeing it first hand at Barrett Jackson this year - reminds me of ‘07 when Superbirds and Cudas were selling for $1 MM - we know how that ended - different times, but same results will follow soon enough. Besides you built this channel on losing money on bad decisions to rehab cars we love - we’re living vicariously through your mistakes. RU-vid doesn’t need another exotic car collector telling the same old stories, none of which we can relate to. Keep up the great work.

I second this. In 2-3 years, the bubble will burst for all but the truly few rare cars. And that's not a 30 year old Lambo. Take the money and cash the check before they change their mind. The same with the Ferraris. Pick ONE to keep. Pocket half a million dollars and enjoy your new cars. HOW do I know this? Even things like a 6-7 year old Mustang... A bog standard Mustang... are selling for 75% of their NEW price. This is a bubble for sure and when it blows up, it's going to be an ocean of tears for those investors. And a very few people who sold out at the top (NOW) who have piles of money to get things at a bargain.

Learning about the problem with very collectible and very expensive cars, you feel like driving them less to protect them as the price and collectibility goes up. Makes it harder to enjoy them, and gives you anxiety. I enjoy seeing a Countach more then I would ever enjoy owning one.

The only Countach I found at a car place once that let me get into it, and I was thinking how uncomfortable it was. It would probably be so cool to drive though regardless just because it is THE poster car for a Supercar & Lamborghini.
